After a minute passes you hear a scream from outside the room. Everybody is startled, but Krauss, clearly still shaken from his father's death, jumps to his feet and runs for the doors. Presumably in search of the sound.

Rudolf and Kyrie quickly get up and head after him.

You exit the parlor after Rudolf, Kyrie, and Krauss. Behind you follows Gohda, George, Battler, Natsuhi, and Jessica. However, Natushi begins coughing partway down the hallway.

Jessica and Gohda stop to help her as the rest of the group, either oblivious or ambivalent, continue on.

Gohda asks her, "What's wrong?"

In between coughs, she responds, "I haven't been feeling well this week. It's nothing serious, just a chest cold."

Gohda and Jessica continue to help her, and you continue following along after the group. They head to a door near the main staircase in the front hall, which leads down another rather thin hallway with numerous closed doors on either side. As the group reaches the end of the hallway, they arrive upon Shannon standing in front of a door that has been opened into the hallway.

Krauss calls out, "Shannon, what's wrong?"

Shannon stutters, and has to clear her throat a few times before she can get out clearly, "O-oh, it's Kumasawa...!"

At this point, you (and the others of the group) can see Kumasawa lying motionless on the floor of the room. Krauss moves forward and checks her pulse.

He doesn't say anything; it's pretty obvious that she's a stone cold cadaver.

While the group is in shock, mumbling among themselves, you have a chance to inspect the room cursorily. It's rather small, with no windows, and only one door. There is a bed, a wardrobe, a small dresser, a variety of feminine hygiene and/or beauty products in the room, and a bedside table with a lamp, filled glass of water, and a phone atop it.

You catch up to Nanjo, before he's about to enter the mansion door. To your surprise you see that Rosa and Maria are also with him. They both exclaim their surprise as you enter the front hall of the mansion, to see the group running to the side door hallway.

Everyone who was just with Ozaki follows him as he heads down the hallways, where they find the group outside Kumasawa's room. Ozaki quickly grasps the situation upon arrival. Nanjo rushes into the room and begins to examine the body.

"How horrible. She'd been complaining about a bad back, but... something like this," Nanjo states. After that, you both notice that Kumasawa's back appears bent in a way that would be kind of an odd angle.

Nanjo mutters, "Two in one day..."

Krauss responds, "Only the master keys can open the servant rooms. There are five in total; one for each servant."

The door looks the same as every other, with a dead-bolt lock.

I do a closer examination of the door; closing and opening if it necessary. I check to see how much space between the door frame and floor is to the door when closed.

After I would then open the wardrobe and check the contents.

Assuming I understand what you're asking, in that you're determining the dimensions of the door frame and door separately, you would determine that the door system is a very tight fit of very expert design/craftsmanship. When closed, there is virtually no space whatsoever between the door and door frame, and likewise for beneath the door. The hallway it opens into is fairly small and the door nearly touches the other wall of the hall when it is opened. Nothing more than a sheet of paper could fit beneath the door at any point, and not even a single sheet of paper could fit between the door and door frame on the sides and top at any point. If you have checked or do check any of the doors in the mansion in the future, all of the doors are of equivalent expert craft; the entire mansion is very expensively designed and built, after all.

When you check the wardrobe you would find multiple servant uniforms, other miscellaneous outfits, but nothing of particular interest. It all appears sized for Kumasawa.

Besides the information Nanjo already discovered, Kumasawa appears to be wearing a nightgown. Rika can find no other wounds without removing her clothing.

"Oh, yes it was locked. I used my master key to open the door," Shannon says, while still looking shocked by the whole affair. The bed is a mess with sheets flung aside as if Kumasawa had just fallen out of it. Under the bed Rika can see a large stack of magazines, recipe books, a syringe, and a small shoebox.

I crouch down and carefully take the syringe from underneath the bed. I then show it to the others and ask whether they have any idea why Kumasawa would have such a thing.

Krauss opens his mouth to respond, but from the hallway you hear a feminine voice, "Why is everyone here?"

Eva and Hideyoshi have arrived. Battler informs them of Kumasawa's early retirement.

"Oh my! How did this happen?" Eva exclaims.

"She must have fallen and broken her back," Nanjo quickly states as he rises from kneeling over her.

"Why is everyone gathering around, then? This is disrespectful. We should leave her with Nanjo," she continues.

Krauss nods. "Eva's right, we should head back to the parlor and gather everyone."

Everyone more or less agrees. Nanjo lifts Kumasawa's corpse, placing it on the bed, as he did with Kinzo. Both Ozaki and Rika are then ushered out of the room, along with everyone else, and Krauss locks the door using Kumasawa's master key, which he pockets after. Unless either of you stop to say anything vitally important, the group begins heading back to the parlor.

Before heading back with the group I will do a quick survey of the hallway. I check if any of the other rooms are unlocked and for any windows in the hallway.

Ozaki finds that all the doors in the hallway are locked, and there is only one window at the very end of the hallway further down from where Kumasawa's room is (which is also shut and locked). The group heads to the parlor, where they find that Gohda, Jessica, and Natsuhi are standing in the hallway in front of the parlor. Natsuhi appears to have completely recovered from her fit.

"What happened, dear?" Natsuhi immediately asks Krauss.

"More importantly," he begins, "Are you alright?"

Natsuhi shrugs slightly. "Oh, I'm fine, don't worry about it. Just a cold."

Krauss then informs the three of them of what happened to Kumasawa. After, he directs a request to Gohda. "Could you retrieve Genji from the kitchen."

Gohda nods his understanding and heads down the hallway to the kitchen door which is still in sight of the whole group. His next action - the act of entering the kitchen - is perfidiously interrupted by that ever-awkward thump of walking into a closed door that does not open when one expects it to. Gohda can then be seen checking the door handle if it's locked; it does appear that he is locked out of the kitchen.

He can be heard saying, "Genji, are you there? Open up." He waits a few moments, but there appears to be no response to him. Before anyone else can say anything he takes out his master key and unlocks the door.

It is at this point that Gohda almost falls on his ass out of surprise, because a large quantity of smoke roils out of the kitchen as it is accessed.

Krauss, quickly jumping to take the initiative, begins heading over to Gohda.

I run up to the room and attempt to see inside it. If I can't see because of the smoke I'll try to feel my way inside and make sure the other door and the windows are secure and locked.

You enter the room, and crouch your way through the room to find the back door and the windows shut and locked. Gohda enters the room, and heads over to the stove and removes the food from the hotplates and proceeds to put out the fire on the stove. He then calls out to Krauss to open the windows.

Soon, the smoke begins clearing out enough for you to see the rest of the room. Your attention is drawn to the floor between the sink and the island, where you see Genji in a pool of blood, with a knife lodged into his abdomen.

You would see that on the central island of the kitchen there are vegetables and other ingredients laid out - some have already been prepared - but the rest are un-cooked. A variety of instruments - y'know, namely knives - are on the island to cut and prepare the food. The stove boasts some pots and pans that used to contain food that was probably in the process of being cooked, but at this point it's all just a charred, disgusting mess. Krauss and Gohda are in the room. You also notice that there are three keys on the ground beside Genji's corpse.

Krauss picks the keys up, pocketing them, stating that they appear to be Genji's master key, the key to the kitchen and a key to the study.

Upon unlocking and opening the back door a murk of water and mud enters the room, mixing with the blood and water already on the floor in the room.

Outside, you would see the forest which you stumbled your way through the first night. You are saved from the rain by a small lip on the roof of the mansion. Nothing else of interest appears to be outside, beyond, y'know, lots and lots of rain and crappy weather.

Upon searching the cabinets, you find dishes and pans and stuff that are clean and ready for use. Nothing is odd with them. Except maybe a few in a cabinet that caught fire or something, in which case those ones would be kind toasty, but there's nothing of any noticeable value. The same can be said for the sink, which contains soapy water, submerged dishes, a loan sponge that took a long dive off a tall counter on to the floor, with a pink and frilly plastic container of dish soap sitting next to the sink. Somebody like ballet themed soap.

You find that the locks on the doors and windows have not been tampered with, and they work as intended.

Gohda responds, "Besides the master keys there is only one other, which is the one Krauss took from... Genji. It only works on the kitchen's hallway door, not the exterior door; that one doesn't have a key, it only can be set from the inside."

Beside the blood on Genji's corpse, the pool beneath it has muddled with the grime in the room, and it's been washed across the floor with the rest of the mud. In particular, everyone's shoes and the sponge by the sink are obviously dirty.

Krauss realizes that something should be done and takes a step to the left. He asks everyone to leave the room, and then addresses the group from the hallway. He explains to the rest of the group that Genji has been murdered and that the others might have been as well. He takes a moment to inform everyone that Kinzo has passed away, stating that there's no point hiding it now.

Following this, everyone begins to gather water bottles and canned food from the kitchen, following a comment Eva made about the food potentially having been poisoned. They make a stop in the dining room, where Krauss opens up an old antique display case containing three Winchester rifles. Krauss, Rudolf, and Eva take them, respectively.

Finally, the group enters the parlor, closing and locking the door behind them. A quick questioning reminds everyone that the phones are down and they have no way off the island until the storm ends and the ferry boat's captain returns for them.

It is at this point that Jessica pipes up. "Wait a moment. Where's Kanon?"

A short inquiry around the group reveals that nobody has seen him since last night. Natsuhi, apparently being the last person to see him (shortly after leaving the dining room), says, "I told Genji and Kanon to search the beaches in case anybody else had washed up."

Eva asks, "So, in other words, Genji was the last person to see him - but he's now dead?" The question is rhetorical.

Rosa meekly suggests, "If he's the only one missing... then... do you suppose--"

Jessica interrupts, "No, impossible. Kanon could never do such a thing."

"Well, she has a point Jessica. Everyone was told to gather in the parlor and he hasn't shown up yet. So, either that, or he's dead," finishes Kyrie.

The conversation dies out after that, and everyone just sorta loafs around the room waiting for something or quietly talking amongst themselves, but not usually for very long. George, Battler, Jessica, and Rika are sitting around a table by the window, while Ozaki sits over by the fireplace with Nanjo, Gohda, Rosa, Maria, and Shannon. Finally, Eva, Rudolf, Krauss, Natsuhi, Kyrie and Hideyoshi, closest to the door.

While the mood is quite sombre indeed, you could still ask them questions or create conversation.

After a few minutes of silence, I attempt to start a conversation with the cousins.

"Um...I'm sorry, I'm terrible at knowing what to say at times like these. But, do any of you have any idea what could be happening here? Kinzo-san and Kumasawa-san's deaths looked like accidents, and Genji-san could have committed suicide, but...why all on the same day? Do you think that someone might have planned this somehow?"

Jessica responds relatively incoherently. She shrugs, and says, "I don't know..."

George frowns. "Suicide? I saw a glimpse of Genji's body... I didn't think he'd be the type to do that."

Battler appears in heavy thought. "Hmmm." After a few brief moments, he answers, "I don't know about the servants, but the old man probably had a lot of enemies. Wouldn't it be possible for one of them to sneak onto the island and assassinate him during the night? Although, that doesn't explain why they would have to kill the servants."

There's another pause, before Battler continues. "I can't believe this is happening. I return, and after all this time, everything decides to go to shit now."

I pause, considering. "Do you think that this could have anything to do with Kinzo-sama's dramatic announcement yesterday? Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he imply that none of his children would succeed him? Perhaps someone wanted to end his life before he could declare that in a formal capacity..."

I then trial off, realising that my argument implies that the cousins' parents would be the most likely killers. "Umm, never mind. I'm just thinking out loud, that's all," I conclude awkwardly, looking away from the others.

"Ah, I didn't see Kumasawa at all last night after... just before dinner, I suppose. When she was with Gohda," Shannon starts. "After dinner I was cleaning rooms - mainly the guest rooms. I went to sleep around... between nine to ten. I woke up at seven, like always, and after getting ready in the servant's room I encountered Natsuhi and Krauss, where I continued to the parlor with them."

Battler and George both respond to the first question. The former starts, "I could see it being possible, but I don't believe that anyone here could be a killer."

George counters, "I think you may have a point, Rika. I dislike it just as much as Battler, but I can see it being possible that someone reacted violently to what he said last night."

To the second question, Jessica responds. "Well, unless he had a will that said otherwise, wouldn't that make my father the head?"

George continues, "I guess that is what would happen, but at the moment, with a murderer on the loose, we're not really in a position to be thinking about that, are we?"

The conversation kind of just dies off after that, unless you continue.

"Well, I went to go check on Maria last night, as she was supposed to sleep with me in the mansion but she wanted to sleep with the cousins in the guest house instead. After that I went back to the mansion and slept. I don't really remember what time it was."

She continues, "In the morning, I woke up to a call from Battler. Apparently, Maria wouldn't get out of bed unless I came to get her personally. I got her and came back with Maria, and Nanjo joined us on the way back to the mansion. That, of course, is when you showed up."

As you approach Nanjo, you notice that he is ruffling through his medical bag. As you come upon him he closes it and turns to face you.

"Yes, I was in the guest house lobby the whole night. Apart from you and Rika, I also saw Rosa leaving the guest house at some point shortly before Rika questioned me," he responds.

"And, yes, that is one of my personal syringes. I didn't want to say so right away, you see, because I didn't expect that I'd be missing one. Last night, I took an inventory and nothing was missing -- but today, there is one missing."

He pauses briefly before continuing. "It doesn't make sense, though. If she was killed with a drug, she wouldn't have succumbed so rapidly. In fact, the only time I've left it unattended was when it was with you and Rika this morning."

"Maria, you and the other cousins were playing games in the guesthouse last night right? Do you remember if anyone left to go do something else, or take a break from games?"

As you walk up to the group of adults you see that Kyrie is speaking to the group. "From what I've heard, the majority of these deaths seem to have a connection to the fact that they were all locked rooms. If we assume that all of them are indeed murders, then we must ask the question: why was the third different from the rest?"

The group responds with interest, urging her to continue. "Kinzo's room isn't a problem due to the fact that you can just hold the door open -- thanks to the automatic locking mechanism on the door."

At this point, however, she is interrupted by the pointed shrill of Eva. "That doesn't matter, though! Don't you remember how overprotective father used to be? Whenever he used to leave the room, you could see that he was watching over the door like a hawk, making sure nobody entered before it closed."

Rudolf nods with a sound of affirmation. "Yeah, I remember the old bastard doing that all the time."

Kyrie resumes, "Well, let's consider the state of the bodies more important than the actual locking of the room. Both Kinzo and Kumasawa were damaged in a way that could seem like they were killed by simply an accident. Even if there is a murderer, one of those deaths could still be an accident for all that we know. Genji, on the other hand, was very directly stabbed in the stomach -- I don't recall him being partial to juggling, mind you, so we can consider that more than accidental. Flip the chessboard over, if this was murder what was the reasoning to do this?"

That would essentially be the topic of the discussion, with the group all attempting to figure this out.

From over by the window where Rika was sitting, a sharp smashing sound is heard, immediately drawing the attention of all in the room. Jessica would exclaim, "Watch it, Battler!"

Looking over would reveal Battler picking up pieces of what appears to be a small blown glass ash tray. He flushes, and responds with as much volume but more generally to the room, "Sorry, my hand just slipped!" He leans down to begin picking up shattered pieces of glass, and George moves to help him.

It is shortly after this that another sound is heard across the room - the sharp scrap of a chair being pushed and someone rising. Eva is now standing straight-backed with a gun raised (but do note that it is held properly; her grip is trained, if you know how to tell) and pointed at your table. Should you turn around, you would see what she is so surprised about, which is that a letter that you do not recognize from seconds prior is now sitting atop the coffee table next to you.

Nanjo proclaims with surprise, "This is Kinzo's seal," while pointing at the red wax seal on the golden letter. At this point, everyone at the adult table has arisen from their seats.

Eva strides over, making pointed eye contact with all at the table to indicate that her firearm is aimed at them all collectively. She takes the letter herself, and then steps back before opening it.

She frowns, and then reads it out loud, in English. "Which one is the wolf among the sheep?"

At this point, Eva discusses with the adults that she suspects everyone at your table of potentially being a culprit. She is adamant, and they are disinclined to argue much - not that it seems like any of them disagree too intensely, anyway. She demands of them that the group of suspects be removed from the parlor and held somewhere where they can be confident they're not a threat to the rest of the family or household. After a quick vote, they all mostly agree - but George raises an objection.

George heads over to your table, grasps Shannon's hand, and walks over to the adults table. Eva has her gun in her hand, but it's not raised at George. Then ensues an argument between George and his mother about how he loves Shannon, is refusing to let her be held captive without him, and then after quite a bit of familial melodrama Eva concedes to George.

Your group, which, besides you, obviously, includes Rosa, Maria, Gohda, Nanjo, and, of course, Shannon, the subject of much, much debate, and, now, George, too, all head out, lead by Rosa, with a key from Krauss, to a room that is, indeed, known as the infamous, if not well protected, study of Kinzo.

You are currently walking toward the study. You simply arrive in the study if choose to do nothing else.

After a little time has passed, I turn toward the adults, addressing Eva. "Eva-san, was that really such a good idea? Wouldn't it have been better to have kept everyone together so that you could all keep an eye on them? If you're correct about the culprit being among that group, then you should have at least sent someone with a gun to watch over them, right? Especially since your son is also in that group..."

As your arrive at the study Rosa unlocks and opens the door. After everyone has entered the room the door auto-locks and closes behind them. The rest of the members of the group sit down at a table in the middle of the room.

In Kinzo's study the walls are lined in bookshelves on either side and there is an additional table off to the side with a chessboard that is mid-match. Additionally, opposite the second table on the other side of the room is an unlit fireplace. Finally, at the head of the room, in front of the only window in the room, is Kinzo's large desk. There are two ornate suits of European full plate armour on stands on either side of the window.

In one corner of the room is a small hallway that leads to a kitchenette and a master bedroom (that is presumably Kinzo's).

"We can't risk a potential murderer winding up with a gun, and nobody can leave the study without incapacitating the rest of that group or getting them to help let them out and back in. Rosa is watching them, and in an emergency we can use the phones to contact each other, but we're much safer off in here without them, after all." Eva explains, and the family members agree that it's a perfectly fine course of action.

After Eva finishes her explanation you see Krauss rise and head for the parlor's adjacent washroom.

Your examination of the fireplace reveals that it is still unlit, it is dirtied with ashes and charcoal, there are burnt out coals of the last logs within it, and in the corner you find a small, singed scrap of paper. The paper appears to be the corner of an envelope much like the one that appeared in the parlor before. There is some lettering on it, which amounts to the word "the".

Shannon appears interested, and takes the envelope to inspect it. After a few moments she frowns and says, "I'm not one hundred percent sure, but I think this might be Genji's writing," while showing it to Nanjo for his opinion.

Nanjo nods. "You're right, he always had a habit of double crossing the t's." The rest of the group doesn't have much input on the matter.

The first thing you notice is that, instead of having a pen or any normal stationary whatsoever, there is simply a quill - with an ornate ballpoint - crafted completely of gold. Even the feather itself appears to be woven gold. In addition, there are a large quantity of papers on his desk, ranging from business deals and memorandums to letters on the occult and spiritual testaments. There is also a slightly humorous "Demons To Summon" list in the centre of the desk..

The key does, in fact, unlock the drawer! You open it to reveal that the deep drawer contains a variety of dark stuff; pentacles, little jars filled with dark red liquids, miniature skulls with wax melted onto them, black picture frames with broken glass fronts and no pictures inside, a pair of handcuffs and a sharpened letter opener...with an excess of rust along the blade edge, et cetera.

Everyone is still sitting around the table occasionally looking up to see what you have been doing, but they don't pay much attention overall. Nanjo seems to nod off now and then before waking himself up from a snore. After all that has happened resting your head for a bit feels like a nice idea.

As you head down the hallway Gohda rises, stating that he wants to check out the kitchenette. He follows after you, heading into that room while you enter the bedroom. In the hallway you notice the floor is scratched in some places horizontally from wall to wall.. In the bedroom you find a fairly large bed in the centre of the room, two wardrobes, two doors leading to closets, and an adjacent ensuite bathroom. Nothing in the room appears particularly unusual or out of the ordinary, in comparison to what you'd expect from an eccentric old guy.

You enter the bathroom to find that it is not dissimilar from any other on the island. Upon entering the room you hear Rosa say something from the main room of the study, but you can't quite catch what it is..

Gohda exits the kitchenette afterward, and you hear him say, "What's that, Rosa?" You see him walk down the short hallway back to the study. After a brief pause, you hear him suddenly exclaim, "Ozaki!"

I check the windows to see if they are shut and locked. I then go over to the door and check to see if it has been held open with a prop of some sort. After I would open the door and quickly look into the hallway for signs of them.

You run over to the window, confirming that it is indeed shut and locked. The same can be said for the door as there is nothing holding it in place and is firmly shut and locked. Opening the main door results in the locking mechanism giving off a distinct clinging which you couldn't have missed, even from the other room. You see no signs of people up or down the hallway, but resting in the centre of the hall is another golden envelope.

Should you open it, you find a peace of paper with only a single line written on it: "Jessica's room."

Gohda takes you to the second floor, and after a short walk you stop in front of a bedroom door, which he indicates is Jessica's room. Gohda attempts to open the door, but it appears to be locked..
"Due to some recent privacy issues Jessica was having, her room's lock was re-fit," he explains, "Currently, there is only one key that works on this door."

The adults look amongst each other, and quickly agree that they should check up on the others. It would be at this point that Krauss would return from the bathroom to hear what everyone is talking about. Battler, who seems to have been waiting to use the facilities, quickly enters the washroom. Krauss picks up the phone and begins to dial.

After some moments of silence, he bears a stoic face and declares, "Nothing... nobody is picking up". He tries dialing once more, again to no avail.

"We shouldn't waste any time, it may be nothing but..." Krauss explains.
The group decides to head to the study and investigate. Rudolf heads over to the washroom, "Oi Battler, come on we're heading out," he says while knocking on the door. There is no response.

"What? No that's..." Gohda starts with hesitation, but quickly comes around and agrees. After a quick few bashes the door breaks down. As it crashes, you manage to see a glimpse of a set chain lock ripping from the door in the splintering along with the set deadbolt.. Upon stumbling into the room you find Nanjo's body lying stomach down in the middle with a pool of blood gathered around the head of his body. You can see large gash on his neck as he lays there without movement.
The room looks quite similar to the one you discovered the mirror in prior, without much difference. Y'know, except... a dead guy.

"Yes... of course."
Gohda complies to your request, standing in the open doorway as you investigate. Remarkably, you discover that virtually nothing appears out of place in the room, except for the dead body. On the floor directly beside the body you find a key, as you hold it up Gohda speaks, "Ah that is the key to the room I mentioned." You find nobody hiding and nothing else left behind, either. Both windows are shut and locked.

Suddenly, the telephone begins to ring. "W-who could that be?" says Gohda, and since he is standing directly next to where it is mounted on the wall next to the door, he answers it. After a quick, puzzled look he hands the phone to you.

Should you listen, you can hear the sound of large, possibly steam-driven machinery in the background. Gohda gives you a look, "If I'm not mistaken, it sounds like its coming from the boiler room..." There's nothing else to the call, simply an open line with the various sounds continuing to emit from the phone.

You head down to the first floor, then down a hallway to the boiler room entrance. There, you find George, Shannon, and Rosa in front of the door about to unlock it.
"Ozaki, Gohda? What are you doing here?" Rosa asks wearily. They all seem on edge.
Before you can respond George decides to speak up, "Nanjo and Maria suddenly vanished, and we got a phone call that seemed to come from the boiler room. We were just about the check inside."
"We had to go to the servant room to get the only key for the boiler room because it was locked," Rosa further elaborates.

Not wanting to split up anymore, they force you to enter the boiler room with them.

"Hey Battler, stop joking around this isn't funny!" Rudolf yells as he slams on the door.
After a few more attempts at trying to get Battler's attention, with no answer, Rudolf draws his gun and shoots at the lock to gain access causing your ears to ring from the impact. The door swings open when fired upon.

With the door open, from where you stand in the parlor you can clearly see that Battler has vanished from the washroom. The only other entrance/exit from that room appears to be a small window in the top left of the back wall, but the window itself is set and locked.

The storm continues to rage outside as a golden butterfly flaps its wings and glides through the backdoor to the boiler room. The door unlocks from the inside, swinging wide open. Slowly, from the depths of the forest, a limping silhouette approaches. As it finally reaches the light of the mansion it becomes clear that it is Kanon and his waist is heavily wounded. He shuffles through the open door, which closes and locks itself behind him.

Now in the boiler room, there is nowhere for the butterfly to go. Kanon stride-limps across the room, headed for it. No words are exchanged, but for the utterance continuously repeated by Kanon - "Kill."

Eventually, Kanon reaches out and crushes the butterfly in his grasp. A bright, golden light completely fills the room.

Your group continues down the stairs, as a loud sound emits from below and shakes the entire staircase along with the hallway. "Ah!," Shannon cries out. Tow which George quickly responds, "What's wrong!?"

"Oh, it's nothing. I just bumped my arm," she explains while rubbing her wrists.

Upon turning back around, you notice that Rosa has disregarded Shannon completely and begun to run off down the stairs. As the rest of the group (including you) make it to the bottom, you find her calling out, "Maria! Maria? Are you here?"

The boiler room has various tools and machines. No matter how hard you look, you cannot find a phone. Something is off about this room, your head is hurting just thinking about it. Eventually, you recognize a faint smell - and it draws your attention toward the incinerator in the centre of the room.

You are able to unhinge and swing open the door. The foul stench of burning flesh and human viscera permeates throughout the room in force. Although the fire has already died, it is clear that the body is still simmering. Despite this, the face is still mostly intact. From what you can recall, this is most definitely Kanon. Additionally, you can see his master key there as well.

The rest of the group is aghast, and someone (you're not sure who) can be heard vomiting.

With Rudolf running ahead, your group passes side rooms until reaching the main hall and climbing the stairs to the second floor. With you at the back of the group you can see Rudolf and Eva are already halfway up the stairs.

As you go to climb the stairs you feel yourself disorient slightly. It seems as if you're falling for a moment, but you realize you're not. You slow down, and feel everything around you do likewise, although the fact that you remain aware of this confuses you.

Out of your peripheral vision, you see one object unphased by the molasses stretching over time. The clock strikes twelve and chimes loudly.

The same can be said for Ozaki, as the door Rosa's pulling wide never opens, and he finds himself in a similar situation.

You both feel your perceptions expanding from the isolated sensations around your body to encompass the entirety of the island of Rokkenjima, and it is as you feel this that you know the lights are dimming and the air is stilling and the light of life in the eyes of those frozen around you grow dim and indifferent.

You blink once more and know the game has ended, the canvas removed from your eyes and the chains shorn from your ankles.

Welcome to the endgame. The rules are this:

You both have until Friday at noon (by the board's time) to email me your theory. This theory must include the whodunit, howdunit, and whydunit. The more detail the better. If you both send them before that date then you may start once I post saying so.

If there are aspects to your theory you cannot explain - why this character was here, why they did this, how this happened, et cetera - that is acceptable, as following the submission of theories there will be a final debate between you two.

The final debate will continue either until I decide to end it or you're both satisfied/willing to stop/concede(one way or the other).

Should you both present a sufficiently similar theory, you may, of course, simply argue with me head on as allies.

When the debate ends, I will select the theory which is most strong; this will be measured by simply pooling up whichever has the most supporting points, evidence, and intelligent observations under it's belt. This is not completely indicative of which is the most CORRECT, although I should HOPE that the stronger theory is also the more accurate one. It is at this point that the creator of the "stronger theory" may be considered the "winner over the other player", although whether or not their theory is actually valid (or even in the realm of possibility) is a completely different matter that I will debate with them in red.

(Again, if you both have the same theory, I debate you both and you're considered... tied, I guess.)

If there are any questions, you may also send them to the provided email privately. Moreover, since at this point I consider the mystery solvable, anybody else may also address their theories to me. These won't have any impact on the game, of course. Simply for fun. ;)

Alright then, let us start.

Looking through the game you can see one major motivation that would appeal to many of the cast; Kinzo's rant on the first day. He clearly said a bunch of nasty things to his children and constantly belittles them. Hell, all of the adults could be the culprit for all we know. Only servants were killed after that, meaning the culprit was clearly getting rid of Kinzo's followers, I imagine they all witnessed Kinzo making his will. Anyway, if we take the howdunits into consideration we can narrow the suspects down to a final solution I believe. Here is my main point.

All the murders were done on the first night.

That's right, we've got some trickery up in this game. Let us start from Genji's death.
Before discovering the corpse, Genji was in the kitchen watching on the food. Or was he? The truth is, only Gohda, Natsuhi and Krauss actually have said to see Genji at all during the morning. Rika heard Genji right in the morning, but there is nothing to say that was all a ruse. You may see where I am going with this.

In regards to Kinzo's death, there was shards of glass found in the towel, which (although redundant) probably was caused by someone breaking the glass in the towel to avoid making noise. They then placed the shards around the corpse and spilled some water to make some idea it was an accident. Of course not many people can easily slip on carpet, so that wasn't a very good cover up.
Then there was the keys in different rooms, but that is all void the moment we consider Genji's study key was used. Genji was simply killed first, or tricked into letting the culprit get into the study(perhaps to deliver the message we found burnt in the fireplace). Shortly after, Kinzo was killed and the closed room was set up with the use of the two study keys the culprit now had. Following this, they decided they had to get rid of Kumasawa too, which really wasn't too hard at this point.

There are a few ways I can see this working, but the easiest would be that Nanjo is an accomplice. He lied about losing a syringe and gave it to Krauss so he could hide it in the room. Kumasawa's door is simple to get past if you have a single master key, which they did, so it was only a matter of sneaking into her room during the night and killing her off silently. Of course Genji's was found in the kitchen, so there is something else we must explain.

Gohda is the final accomplice, but Genji's room was not constructed easily. After all if Jessica and Natsuhi just lied then either of them could have walked in and done the deed, but going along with my theory I would say otherwise. It went more like this; when Gohda came to ask Shannon to go find Kumasawa, Genji was already dead and his body placed in the kitchen. Gohda had locked the door upon leaving, with the keys inside, and left the stove on in order to get our attention after finding Kumasawa. Gohda is known to be new on the island, so most likely he has been Krauss/Natsuhi's pawn for a while.

At this point, although it should be clear now, I'll outright state that Krauss is the culprit, with Natsuhi, Nanjo, and Gohda as accomplices.

Following this, Gohda was tasked to place a letter in an attempt to ostracize some people. He simply waited for a distraction to be made causing everyone to split up
One of the most notable events in the game was when everyone disappeared in the study, however there was one thing in particular that was mentioned without an obvious reason.

>In the hallway you notice the floor is scratched in some places horizontally from wall to wall.
As you can see, this line was placed as if SEPARATING the main portion of the study. They never actually left the room, but the whole room was swapped with a replica! Some sort of hidden room type of thing. I wouldn't put it past Kinzo after all. Or they hide under another table or something. Honestly this part has gotten me good and I don't have any clear solution.

After that we found Nanjo dead, but there is something fishy about the whole thing don't you think? You purposely ushered me out of the room so I wouldn't investigate. Nanjo, being an accomplice, just faked his death. Plain and simple. The boiler room sounds were also a premade recording set up by Gohda in the kitchenette, or by Nanjo in another room. This could also have been how Genji called Rika in the morning.

Now we end up with Kanon. If you recall, my statement was that all the deaths happened on the first night. With Nanjo's faked death, Kanon's is a simple time trick. He was killed during the night and placed into the incinerator. We could only smell his body after opening the hatch, so it could have been there all day if needed. The whole room was simply locked with the boiler room key, which was put back in the servant room after its use.

As for Battler, he probably wanted to solve the crime himself or something, and locked the window from the outside after escaping. He found his way to the room by circling around the mansion.

Interesting, but quite a few things are incorrect. I will start with this.

None of the master keys were used to construct the closed rooms in this gameboard. The same can be said for Genji's study key.

Wrecks like half my theory, but whatever, its more entertaining this way. I'll just rebuild each one.

For Kinzo's room they simply caught the door while he was leaving and held it open with some object so the key could be put into the room after killing him.

For Kumasawa's she was poisoned and locked the door herself before dying and fall out of bed, the syringe was placed into the room after discovery of her corpse.

For Genji's, while I was checking the windows Gohda and or Krauss had the time to pretend to find the keys on Genji's body. Thus making it no closed room at all.

You didn't deny that Nanjo faked his death though!
The plan was indeed to make Nanjo fake his death, but Gohda was ordered to kill him because he was being paid opposed to being loyal. While I was searching the room Gohda injected him with poison and we quickly left the room due to the planned phone call, thus leaving before we could see it take effect.
He didn't move because he had either taken drugs to make it seem like death, or he simply didn't want to give himself away.

Kanon was killed after Nanjo. The boiler room remained locked all day until Rosa unlocked it using the key.

Kanon was killed by a physical blow from another human standing right beside him.

The exterior door is similar to the kitchen's back door. The back door can only be locked from the inside and the key does not work on it. The large bar lock on the back door was set when you entered until Rosa unlocked it.

Come now, you can do better than that.
Kanon has no twins. Shannon and Kanon are not the same person. The body you found in the boiler room was the same Kanon you were with when you first entered the kitchen.

Battler did not lock the window from the outside. None of the windows in this game were locked from the outside.

The only entrance/exits into the room are the two doors. They have not been tampered with in anyway and function just as expected. They were not removed either.

I'm starting to get the idea you have run out of theories.

Well shit, all or nothing I supposed.

Battler never actually left the bathroom. Due to where Rika was standing she simply couldn't see him hiding behind the door or something similar. Rudolf either agreed beforehand to do this with him, or just freaked out and ran off before discovering him behind the door.

I never once entered the kitchenette. With the help of Gohda everyone hid in there while I was in the bedroom. They were all in it against me.

Kanon has been inside the boiler room all day, thus avoiding most of the reds. He was behind the door when it opened and he fell down the stairs which killed him. Rosa moved the body into the incinerator quickly before I was able to catch up to her.

Krauss didn't lie about Kinzo's closed room. The keys really were found where he said they were.

Genji's study key, master key, and the key to the kitchen were found on Genji's corpse by Krauss.

Gohda is not an accomplice, and he did not kill Nanjo. In fact Nanjo was already dead the moment you reached the door of Jessica's room.

Finally, neither Krauss or Natsuhi are culprits or accomplices.


Sorry, but your theory fails. I just wanted to watch you squirm a bit. Ahahaha.

The witch sighs, clearly bored with this affair. As if speaking to the piece, she whispers.

"Do you need help? How pathetic. Try and remember, what has this whole farce of a duel neglected to mention? There was something there. Something far more interesting to you, right? You won with it, and it will help you win again. That was only the lock, you must find the key.

The gameboard suddenly explodes in flashing lights and colors, suddenly Theon fades away as particles fly upwards into the sky.
Only Ozaki is standing on the stage now. The other members of seacats watching in the background as Kinjo makes his proclamation with Rika off to the side.

Slowly Ozaki gets up and starts to laugh. He stands up and says, "Indeed. I am Theon. I am also the gamemaster."

This is my mystery, but I had my friend Omni write everything for me in order to trick long time members. The blues I used during that duel were theories that Rika and other members of seacats were suggesting in Skype, so it wasn't just me dueling myself. The mirror riddle was heavily discussed in the chat by everyone, Kinjo was the first to recall that was the title of my 'next' game as shown here >>13470.
The game is over, and technically I am the winner. That being said, there is still a mystery to solve! I will now make an open theories thread for anyone and everyone to attempt to solve this mystery, more rules to come.

Oh and of course to keep all the silly theories at bay and to stop you saying that this was meta shenanigans, Ozaki isn't the culprit or accomplice.
