Step 0: Download the above, unrar it.
Step 1: Run the program in the Step 1 folder, this will download the character builder.
Step 2: Run the program in the Step 2 folder, this will update your Cbuilder. Make sure to specify the directory to which you installed the program in Step 1. Be absolutely sure of this, because it may try to install in a different directory (Program Files as opposed to Program Files x86 or vice versa), which will not work.
Step 3: Move the files in the Step 3 folder into the CBuilder directory.
Step 4: Run the "CharacterBuilderLoader.exe" file. It will take some time to download all the custom content the first (and perhaps second) time you load it.
Step 5: That should be it. Remember, always open it using the CharacterBuilderLoader.exe and not the default Cbuilder file.

So our options are to go to some warded tower under the city on a hunch that something could be found there, or head behind enemy lines to track down the Fell King the direct way and take the fight to him.

Not that I'm swinging one way or the other, but I'll just say that it's not really going to matter for Baldur's Gate whether you are at the tower or in the Shadowfell, it'll be equally "vulnerable" either way. With that said, not ALL of the Flaming Fist is going to be out on assignment, some will still be in the city.

So anyways, I'm gonna make this official now. When you guys level up, you can select a theme to add to your character. You should probably make it tie into the idea of your character somehow. You can choose one of the dragon themes or the dark sun themes, but not the new Iron Wolf theme (we really don't need to give PCs more reasons to charge).

You'll also be receiving a free expertise feat.

On a related note, where are you going when you leave the palace? I'll need to know that soon~

The command prompt thing seems to update the custom folder if you have wotc.index in it, but while updating, it also loads the version of character builder without the new updates.

Yay. Got it to work. Not sure what Theme I may want though. Maybe Templar or Gladiator. Was thinking about Noble, but not enough benefits really. It fits my character, yes, but the main benefit is mostly that free level 6 magic armor, weapon, or neck item at level 5. (and the one power near level 10 I think.)

Alright Rin, in case I don't get to contact you before I go to sleep/go to work, here's possibly what I have in store for my character, just running by that it's okay.

Feat:Heavy Blade thingy from HOTFK
Theme:Noble, get Magic Chainmail +2 from the level 5 feature, upgrade that to Dwarven Armor +2 (maybe disenchanting my old dwarven armor or trading it in, and using my gold/residdium to upgrade the said magic armor. Which should be about 800 gold in reagents.)

That's all right, as long as you can justify your character being a noble. Also keep in mind that this item is supposed to be a priceless heirloom from your noble lineage that you'll be expected to return home with, so I'm not sure if a set of Magic Chainmail +2 is appropriate (you'll probably want to take scale proficiency eventually).

50 GP - Comprehend Language - Makes me understand any language I heard before, or read before. At high level I can even speak/write it. I can perform this for free once per day with the houserule ritual casting I got.
30 GP - Banish Vermin - Prevents rats and the like from entering an area, duration affected by check result.
50 GP - Purify Water - Purifies water of all poisons etcetera, Arcana so can use it for free.
100 GP - Bloom - Makes stuff grow. If used on crops, grows enough to feed five people for a week.
100 GP - Preservation - Prevents food from rotting or papers from wear by age etcetera. Useful to enchant my spellbook with.

Though I have the strangest feeling that they'll turn out to have ranged attacks, if keeping them out of melee range is the goal, placing the elemental spirit at F-13 and my spirit companion at C-13 should keep the golems away from our side of the room. If I need to keep the golems exactly where they are, I can use one of my dailies to accomplish that for the whole encounter. This is all assuming that they can't squeeze or teleport or something.

As for the clay dolls, do you think we should attack the sphere-things that summoned them?

So the bladesinger is apparently a wizard with a sword that, without a single feat, gets intelligence based MBAs, a shield bonus, doesn't provoke OA's with ranged or area attacks, and can use weapons as implements. And its at-wills can knock prone and slide at will. Seems pretty good-

This seems to be a pretty difficult situation. If I don't move out into the larger area, I won't be able to hit any of the enemies except for the injured one, which could kill it and make it explode on Sureiya, who's already fairly wounded. However, moving out would leave me vulnerable to at least four enemies, and would only be a good idea if everyone else also ran out of the corridor. As far as the courses of action go, I've come up with the following four:

1. Stay in corridor, draw rod of corruption, try to kill the sentry doll near anon-kun and hope it doesn't hurt him too much.

2. Move somewhere behind touchan, draw rod of corruption, use an action point minor action to curse something in the group to the right, and focus it down for curse spreading.

3. Move behind touchan, and Hunger of Hadar the group to the right. They're mostly large enemies, so it should be more effective than usual, and it'll also block line of sight for their ranged attacks. We have a lot of dailies available, so it shouldn't be too much of a loss to use it here.

I think I might have to burn the daily surgeless heal on myself, since I don't have my second wind anymore. And unless somebody has a way to remove the daze affecting me at the moment, then I can't use righteous radiance to punish attacks either, since dazing prevents opportunity attacks from being taken. About the only good thing I can do is still have them in my aura for the -2 penalty to attacks.

You're not a striker. A lack of damage isn't an issue. A bad effect, however, would certainly be an issue.

That said, Beguiling Strands pretty much accomplishes the same thing as Winged Horde by disengaging the enemy from the ally on a hit, it has a larger attack radius (though a shorter range), and we're a little low on forced movement powers. It doesn't get a damage roll, but again, don't worry about damage.

It's your choice, though. Pick something flavorful if you want.

Beguiling Strands should do 7 damage, I don't see why the enhancement bonus wouldn't apply! For some reason it just says "5 damage", though it should at least be "5 psychic damage", or is the enhancement bonus applied to your Intelligence modifier etc?

Anyway, Phantasmal Assault feels like a good replacement due to making the target grant combat advantage to everyone. I don't need to spell out just how amazing that is for when we need to take care of something, and it denies OAs but I guess it's not as crowd controlling.

At 5 damage, Beguiling Strands at least does better damage than Winged Horde due to reliability, and its effect means I can hit a larger radius and it works when we're surrounded, too.

I wish I could take all three but limits etc, could never do it.

We've got ways to get combat advantage pretty easily, though. When Myn takes Hidden Sniper, for instance, Michael can use his Inspired Belligerence to make the enemy grant CA to everyone and add a damage bonus.

Also, note on stone blood : If somebody takes World Serpent's Grasp, they could follow up the attack and knock the slowed enemies prone, which is good. Though slow is good for defenders that rely on positioning in general (myself, and you to a much lesser extent). If you keep them within walking distance, you can keep punishing them for disobeying your mark/reduce the damage they do.

If you want to replace Grasping Shadows, Orbmaster's Incendiary Detonation is not only thematic (Lina Inverse, etc.) but party friendly, or Charm of Misplaced Wrath for a reliable effect (but no direct damage, if that matters). If you're going for daily replacements, Horrid Whispers or Phantom Chasm knock enemies prone, which is pretty good.

Again, though, it's entirely up to you.

Yes, I was looking at Phantom Chasm. I think I'll just keep Grasping as it has been useful so far by knocking enemies prone.

For Paragon, I'm actually looking at Sigil Carver, so I'll probably keep Intelligent Swordsman as a feat. Sigil Carver gets to make a Melee Basic Attack against an enemy within 5 squares of me if it hits an ally... as an opportunity, not interrupt, and it ignores range!

Anyway, saying that, I will probably retrain Flaming Sphere and Winged Horde. Flaming Sphere to Phantom Chasm for Controlling power, Winged Horde to Beguiling Strands for a little more damage and denying the enemies their OAs by virtue of moving them. It's away from me, but it works for crowd controlling in an encounter where we're surrounded, and it grants us some maneuvring space against a close blast 5 rather than burst 1. I can teleport, so I can get into any sticky situation for allies and bust them free.

It's probably a misprint. HotFK lists it as a power bonus, and the power doesn't list it as one of its sources, so I don't think they updated it. Power bonus to damage rolls isn't as good since it won't stack with Spirit Infusion or any other power bonuses to damage.

It's a power bonus, unfortunately. Keep in mind the character builder is an unofficial source, so mistakes are very likely. A wizards-printed source (HotFK) takes precedence.

As for the discussion earlier, yes, most stuff only applies to damage rolls, which means it only adds when you roll dice for damage. Stuff that deals a flat, non-variable amount of damage does not benefit from most bonuses, including enhancement bonuses (except in the case of Magic Missile, which specifically says otherwise).

Ore no tahn. As an explosion from either sentry doll would probably kill Astaroth-kun, I'm reluctant to curse them for the spread. Since the bloodied guardian golem is also in curse range, I suggest we focus on him. It helps that the top enemies can't do OAs, since that means anon-kun can rush in and DPS it to death, with support from waga imouto or Lili-chan if necessary. Any thoughts?

He could attack the doll that's near the top. If it gets bloodied, it gets powered up, yes, but its defenses also fall. Thus making it easier to land an attack that would daze it, so we can end its rampage without it exploding. And we still have interrupts in case it somehow doesn't die come its turn, which both Sureiya and Sariel can use since he'd be in range. And finally, if he's up there, he can grant the THPs from the power to everybody and use Inspired Belligerence on the golem that's fallen prone (since it's granting CA).

Oooooh, interesting. Apparently Intelligent Blademaster works with ranged basic attacks made with melee weapons as well thanks to the wording of the feat. So any weapons Sariel is proficient with that can be thrown will use her intelligence modifier for attack rolls and damage rolls.

So Torinn is dead meat. I still want to mark the Fell Dragon, mostly because that puts Torinn in range for some Dimensional Warping. We can still save Torinn if we can somehow get him some healing and avoid getting him killed by the two Rabble that go after me. So, strategiers meeting?

As for myself, I don't know what the psychic anomaly does, but if it can kill the Rabble adjacent it, I don't mind spending my Action Point on killing the other Rabble, or at least attempt to kill it - Winged Horde's 1d6 damage should do enough for Minions, at least.

We should probably stop Hoodoo2 from calling in reinforcements from the eastern door, or we're definitely going to lose Torinn. Don't think we can heal 40 damage in one turn, so when they unleash it again we're doomed.

Torinn is 11 squares away from Michael, while he can only walk five squares and heal five squares away. Even if Michael were to delay until after Torinn's shift south, Torinn can't afford to risk being attacked by the dragon's anti-shift mechanic. Here are some ideas to overcome this problem.

a) Sariel's Winged Horde can prevent the shift-OA, and Torinn can then shift south one square after attacking the dragon, putting him in Michael's healing range.

b) My Dimensional Scramble, if it hits, can reposition the dragon so that the dragon's aura no longer reaches Torinn. He can then safely move or shift south.

c) Michael runs to gain 2 extra squares of movement. Unfortunately, Torinn would still be in the dragon's anti-healing aura (or would he how does large mount work) and running has some obvious drawbacks. I was hoping for Michael to charge the hoodoo Sureiya is attacking, etc.

Only if you take responsibility. I can Channeling Shield or Dimensional Vortex, but staying from using the Daily for too long makes it less useful. My Daily marker also deals 7 damage to the monster anytime it triggers my Aegis.

My problem is just that my rolls never exceed 10 in combat situations. Sariel's completely useless, only saving grace is that Shielding Fire was never expected to hit since it targets Fortitude anyway, and its effect triggers even on a miss. All it loses is the 2d10 damage and I can go without, just... I've been consistently missing nearly every time. :\ I know I hit something in the first encounter but I am getting massively frustrated with the terrible rolls I've had. Feels like they are more numerous than the good rolls.

On average, the hoodoo should die from two of Myn's attacks, especially if one is Spiteful Glamor and the other is Spirit Infused. It's much more of a threat with the chaos ward present. However, if Chaos Wards have like 1 HP, I can get rid of it outright with Dimensional Scramble and the attacks can be focused on the dragon.

Since Condensation is up, I can only summon my spirit once per turn (through my spirit boon), and that's only if the spirit isn't there. Spirit Boon also grants +2 to saving throws for all allies adjacent to the spirit, which Torinn could probably make good use of. This would that I'd forfeit my Spirit Infusion for this turn, which is the best way for me to deal damage.

I'm also thinking of using Healing Spirit on Torinn, if only because Michael is dazed and can't reach. The regen 4 would be enough to bring him back out of unconsciousness on his turn, but if the enemies knock him unconscious again and use coup de grace, Torinn could actually die, so he needs some additional healing. Unfortunately, Healing Spirit means he's spending a surge with absolutely no extra healing for himself, and he's somewhat low on surges already.

The problem is the unbalance between the numbers of surges party members spend. For example, I haven't spent a single surge yet, but it's not like I should be walking up to melee just for the sake of taking damage.

There's a ritual for balancing surges in a party, but it costs 10gp and eats up a surge for each use.

Further research shows that you need a positive HP total to regenerate, so healing spirit is inevitable.

That's the problem with items that are just powers, you tend to forget they're there even when you could have used them.

I still have Righteous Shield, which would absorb all the damage, but that would mean taking the full force of a crit, and then Torinn would be dying again thanks to getting hit by the breath weapon -twice-. And then it'd probably kill him once his turn rolls around.

Since there seems to be some misconceptions flying around as to what a "coup de grace" is, let me lay it out for you.

1. A coup de grace is an action you can perform on an adjacent helpless foe. It has to be taken intentionally and consciously, you don't accidentally coup de grace someone who just happens to be in an attack you make.
2. It does require you to be adjacent to the target.

Also, since I don't seem to clearly understand how Myn's curses and auras and stuff work, explain that to me as to the whole roll of 2 damage would outdamage the crit.

Sure, part of the reason for the ranged attack was not granting myn an attack, but part of it was because the Hoodoo has low AC cause of it being an artillery. I don't know how much nads it has, but I'm sure it's at least a tad bit higher than those.

All scale at 11/21, and the expertise part is a feat bonus.

White Lotus Dueling Expertise (Req Arcane power source): +1/2/3 Arcane (weapon and implement) and basic attacks, requires arcane power source, when you hit w/arcane at-will, +2 untyped bonus to arcana and diplomacy, UEoYourNT.

Eldritch Fullisade Expertise: +1/2/3 bonus to weapon attacks with crossbow, +1/2/3 implement with wand, wand hand "free" for purposes of reloading the crossbow.

Dwarven Rod Expertise: +1/2/3 weapon attacks with mace, +1/2/3 implement attacks with rod, count a rod as a club for weapon attacks.

Battle Song Expertise (Req Bard): +1/2/3 weapon and implement attacks with "any weapon or wondrous item thathas a property allowing you to use it as an implementfor your bard powers and bard paragon path powers." also +1 feat bonus to bard/bard paragon that push/pull/slide

Devoted Priest Expertise: +1/2/3 with weapon attacks with a weapon, and implement attacks with a holy symbol (must be using both). When hitting a creature vuln to radiant with a weapon power, gain +1/2/3 untyped to the damage roll.

Devoted Protector Expertise: +1/2/3 weapon with weapon, implement with holy symbol and must be using a shield, gain a +1 (increase) shield bonus to ref when you hit with divine at will or a basic attack until the start of your next turn.

Which is what CharOp is pretty much begging for. Or just fix Versatile Expertise to scale at levels 1/11/21. They don't even care about additional benefits nearly as much as just getting the stuff to scale properly. In fact, they've been throwing out their own suggestions:
