One by one, the adventurers step into the whirling energy and are whisked out of sight--as they are teleported, they seem to shoot suddenly upwards and become transparent, passing through a great deal of empty space before finally coming to a stop in an expansive, curious room. The spirits are left behind, but Myn's owlbear and familiar easily accompany him through.

The scene before the six adventurers is quite impressive.

You seem to be on a very large, circular platform that has been carved in the same black, marble-like material that the rest of the keep was made of. Each corner ends in a curious protrusion that partially supports a wicked-looking throne. And these four thrones do look quite familiar--they are the same thrones from the four leyline chambers, the thrones that mysteriously vanished when you engaged the elemental fiends in battle.

The platform appears to be floating in vast void. Darkness surrounds you and would completely engulf the area if not for the four, enormous pillar-like objects that extend as far up and down the void as you can see. The pillars are not regular in form, and appear to composed of a vaguely crystalline material that forms intertwining veins, or blood vessel-like formations. They pulsate at erratic intervals--one with dark orange light, one an erratic green, one a deep blue, and one a fiery red. These are very clearly elemental leylines as you saw before, a fiery leyline that bristles with elemental fire, an air leyline with electricity running up and down its surface as a howling wind tunnel surrounds it, a watery leyline filled with floating bubbles and a rushing current that seems to warp the air around it, and an earthen leyline with cracks that suggest it is barely containing an ominously pulsing orange glow.

There is nothing suspending the platform here that you can see, but the border of the platform shimmers slightly, as if a light-blue wall of force completely encases the lift, preventing anything solid from falling into the void beyond.

The shaman calls her spirit back and begins to use its power to temporarily shield her allies. Meanwhile, the ranger keeps his eyes and ears open--there's some sounds coming from the leylines, but nothing that you wouldn't expect--the faint crackling of fire, crashing of waves, howling of wind, and rumbling of earth.

However, what Sureiya notices that he didn't expect is an almost invisible transparent field of some sort over three of the thrones--the throne next to the earthen leyline lacks one. It would be difficult to judge exactly what the field's purpose is from this distance.

The party begins to feel rejuvenated from the transport, as if there is a lingering benefit to the dragons' blessings.

Each of the dragons restores 2 healing surge to the party, for a total of 8 healing surges, which you may distribute amongst yourselves as you wish. You can decide this out-of-character.

Myn and the shaman can also sense the strange fields surrounding three of the four thrones. The shaman's thorough examination and spiritual insight can tell her more about the field surrounding the thrones and the thrones themselves.

It is tied into the nature of the throne itself, which is the manifestation of some kind of powerful elemental pact. It is not a true physical object, but it would be possible to damage if not for the field surrounding it, which prevents it from manifesting fully on this plane. The field appears to be tied to the life-force of the creatures involved, if one of them could be weakened, it would be possible to damage or destroy the throne, and thereby nullify the pact. The spirit companion speculates that one method of doing so would be to destroy the creature's physical body. As such, though the field surrounding the throne is not a true barrier, it effectively acts as one.

There is likely some mutual benefit of the pact, but you can only guess at the true nature of it, as this isn't a spell that's written in some ritual book at a magical library. This is one of those special, one-in-a-century deals that pops up due to extraordinary circumstances, and is never written down in a ritual book or truly studied extensively by scholars.

When the shaman retrieves the skull from her bag of holding, she finds that the eyes no longer hold a glow and it seems completely inanimate. As if to confirm the point, it crumbles to dust mere seconds later.

"'s been a'while, lads n' lasses!" comes a booming voice from the direction of the throne of flame. Only seconds later, those who whirl to face it can clearly see the form of a charcoal-skinned dwarf with a beard of flames and glowing yellow eyes, dressed in black steel armor and wielding an enormous fiery double-axe. The figure of Sankis the Burning sits upon the throne, one hand on the armrest and another holding the axe vertically.

Bernkastel's impression is a bit of an odd one. She attempts to gauge the combat strength of the fiends, but as far as she can tell, they look and feel exactly the same as before. There is one difference though... and then it hits her. These bodies are mere projections, they too lack a physical form. Perhaps the fiends remain weakened after their defeat and are unable to take on a physical form without some assistance right now.

If that's the case, it might even be possible to break the bond between the thrones and the leylines without confrontation, if given enough time to study the spell more intently. "Wha's tha nonsense yer talkin' aboot? Ahm a dwarf!" Sankis protests.

"No matter! They're going to be dead in moments anyway!" the windrunner screeches, seething with barely-restrained fury, as if some unseen force was holding her back temporarily.

"All will be as the master wishes... all according to the master's plan." Hemah murmurs, seemingly unconcerned with the events that unfold.

All three: All three of the adventurers can glean that Sankis is much more powerful than before, as a level 10 solo brute. He is highly resistant to fire (resist 10 fire), and he possesses darkvision. As a dwarf, he is exceptionally hardy and tough (Sankis has more HP than a standard solo of his level, and he has the stand the ground trait, allowing him to ignore up to 5 squares of forced movement via a push, pull, or slide, and whenever he is knocked prone, he can save to avoid falling prone, with the standard solo bonus to saves of +5). You also know the leyline is a level 10 hazard. Sankis can channel the fiery energies of the fire leyline to blast you with flame.

Sureiya: Sankis still carries his signature trait of burning blood, which makes him more dangerous the more he is wounded. (Sankis gains 1 charge of burning blood for every X points of damage he takes. He gains a bonus on attack rolls based on the amount of burning blood charges he possesses, and loses all charges at the end of each of his turns.) Sankis still possesses a mastery of the leyline, and can channel the leyline to unleash its attacks. (Sankis has channel the leyline, a ranged attack which allows him to have the leyline make its attack. Mastery of the leyline renders Sankis immune to the leyline's attacks and zones, and on an initiative count of 10 + Sankis's initiative, he can use channel the leyline as a free action, using it in this way does not provoke opportunity attacks. If a dominating or stunning effect would prevent Sankis from taking this action, that effect ends instead of Sankis taking the action.) Sankis retains the ability to strike fear into the hearts of those who are lit aflame, causing them to flee in terror as they burn. (Sankis has the !!on fire!! trait, which means that whenever a creature Sankis can see fails a saving throw against ongoing fire damage, Sankis can slide the creature 3 squares.)

The burning dwarf has a potent fiery double-axe, and can strike with it twice in quick succession, though he will strike himself in the process due to the weapon's strange design--it's as if Sankis enjoys the pain. (Sankis's fiery double axe is a melee basic attack with a range of 2, which deals damage and ongoing fire damage. Any creature already taking ongoing fire damage instead takes even more fire damage when hit. Sankis can also use double attack as a standard action with a range of 2, striking twice, hitting one or two creatures. Each creature hit takes ongoing fire damage, or extra fire damage if they are already taking ongoing fire damage. Sankis deals damage to himself with this attack, and it deals minor fire damage to targets that are missed. Both attacks are against AC.) Sankis has learned a new trick: he can charge forth, heedless to danger, striking all in his path (crimson charge is an at-will Sankis can use once per round, allowing him to move his speed and move through enemy spaces during the movement. He gains resist 10 all during the movement, and can use his fiery double axe each time he moves adjacent to a given creature for the first time during the move, against the creature.) Sankis can breath a cone of flame periodically, incinerating all in his path. (Incinerate is a recharge attack that affects a close blast 5, targeting Reflex, and on a hit deals heavy fire damage and rendering the target vulnerable to fire damage until the end of Sankis's next turn. It deals half damage on a miss. If Sankis possesses 3 or more charges of Burning Blood, he can use the attack twice as part of the same action, but each attack must cover the same blast area. If Sankis gains a 4th charge of Burning Blood, this attack recharges and Sankis can immediately use it as a free action.)

Sankis is relentless in his attacks, igniting enemies at a distance. (Conflagration is a minor action attack Sankis that recharges whenever Sankis gains a 2nd charge of Burning Blood. It targets one creature in a close burst 5, plus one additional creature for every 2 charges of Burning Blood (for a maximum of 3 targets at 4 charges). Conflagration hits Fortitude for fire damage, and the target is dazed until the end of Sankis's next turn.) Sankis is prone to exploding completely without warning, searing those nearby. (Spontaneous Combustion is a vs. Reflex attack in a close burst 2 that deals [orange]fire damage, and it's a no action attack that triggers whenever Sankis gains a 2nd or 4th charge of Burning Blood).

The genasi swiftly reacts, calling down a tempest of howling wind upon the demonic dwarf. The flames surrounding Sankis are twisted by the whirling currents, and he grins, tightening the grip on his weapon. "Ahhh, yea! Ah've been waitin' so long fer this!"

Ramuh uses battle acumen, learning that Sankis has no discernible weakness. Sankis grants combat advantage to Ramuh until the end of his next turn.
Ramuh uses howling tempest, hitting for 26 thunder damage and Sankis is deafened (save ends). The burst creates a zone of howling wind that deals 5 thunder damage to creatures that begin their turns within.

The warlock's snapping of fingers summons forth two icy tentacles. His pet imp noticeably shudders as one attempts to smash into Sankis's back, and the dwarf looks more annoyed by the cold than anything else as it wraps around his leg.

Something oozes from Sankis's armor--something that looks like blood, but immediately catches aflame as it does so. The dwarf gestures with his double axe, and the leyline resonates with the gesture. The air between the shaman and the gnome explodes with flame, setting both ablaze and leaving "Bernkastel" standing amidst the fire--Sid manages to roll aside, being conditioned to instinctively dodge whenever something from his laboratory reacted in a similar fashion.

Myn uses fey bargain and places his curse on Sankis. Myn uses Tentacles of Cryonax, conjuring 2 tentacles.
Myn spends an action point! Myn uses the tentacle attack, which hits Sankis for 29 cold damage, and Sankis is grabbed (save ends). Sankis gains 1 charge of Burning Blood.
Sankis's mastery of the leyline allows him to use channel the leyline. The leyline uses flame strike, hitting Bernkastel and Sid for 12 fire damage (Bernkastel reduces to 10) and ongoing 5 fire damage. Sid uses lab conditioning to reduce the damage to 6 fire damage, and shifts 2 squares. The burst creates a zone, see the notes for details.

Torinn's sweeping holy-infused strike grants the shaman a radiant shield to absorb her burning flame damage. Sid suffers a bit more from the fires, and moves close enough to toss a canister to reinforce Torinn's resolve.

It's a good thing too, as when Sid's crossbow bolt strikes the fiery dwarf-giant in the neck, he screams and explodes, engulfing the dragonborn and his mount in a burst of flame. As the fires dissipate, Sid manages to put out his own fire.

Torinn moves. Torinn uses strike of hope, hitting for 16 radiant damage. Bernkastel gains 5 temporary hit points. Sid takes ongoing 5 fire damage.

Sureiya moves to flank the giant burning dwarf with the mounted paladin, and uses the distraction to slash at Sankis's back twice. Sankis is whittled down by the chilling gold of the tentacles as well as the howling tempest he is engulfed in. Roaring, he lifts his fiery double-axe over his head and slashes at Torinn, though Sid's shield activates at the last moment to absorb the brunt of the blow. Still, Torinn is set ablaze as Sankis whirls his axe in a back-swing that the half-orc barely dodges, and an electrified crossbow bolt streaks past the flaming dwarf's head. Holding his double-axe with one hand, Sankis gestures with his other, and flames erupt beneath both Torinn and Sureiya, threatening to engulf them. Torinn's big cat leaps aside and spares him the flame, but Sureiya is consumed by fire and left looking a bit dazed.

Sankis reveals where his double-axe cut himself on the back swing, and a large amount of burning blood seeps from the wound. Opening his mouth, an enormous torrent of flame rushes forth and washes over Torinn and Rutger, leaving both badly seared--the big cat is barely standing afterwards. However, Torinn manages to split the flames with his blade and drive it into Sankis's shoulder for another strike, thanks to a timely spiritual warning from the shaman, and Torinn's devotion manages to restore a bit of his mount's vitality.

Sureiya moves and sets his quarry. Sureiya uses twin strike, hitting twice for 25 damage.
Sankis begins his turn and takes 5 cold damage and 5 thunder damage.
Sankis uses double attack, hitting Torinn for 21 fire damage plus ongoing 5 fire damage (save ends), missing Sureiya for 5 fire damage. Sid misses with shocking feedback. http://orokos.com/roll/265572 Sankis takes 10 damage, gaining a 3rd charge of Burning Blood. Torinn uses resistive formula to gain 25 temporary hit points.
Sankis uses conflagration, missing Torinn but hitting Sureiya for 12 fire damage. Sureiya is dazed until the end of Sankis's next turn.
Sankis spends an action point! Sankis uses incinerate, missing once for 13 damage and hitting once for 24 damage. Sankis hits Rutger twice for 17 damage (reduced from 27) and 14 damage (reduced from 24). Both become vulnerable 5 to fire damage until the end of Sankis's next turn. Bernkastel uses powerful warning and Torinn's melee basic attack hits Sankis for 17 damage. http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4800430/ On the second hit, Torinn uses shield of devotion to allow Rutger to regain 5 hit points, and Torinn gains a +2 power bonus to his next attack roll. Sankis fails to save against being grabbed but is no longer deafened.
Bernkastel takes ongoing 5 fire damage.

The shaman tries to use the surrounding elemental fire to her advantage, and quickly taps the ground four times with her spear while muttering in Primordial. This conjures the four walls of fire, out of which step fire archon spirits. One gets spent quickly to infuse Myn.

"Mr. Tormine, we need to completely stop Mr. Sankis from burning everyone for a few seconds." pls use holy symbol "Mr. Silversprocket, please support Mr. Tormine, and Mr. Sureiya, a full assault as much as able."

The smaller spirit infuses Torinn, creating an effect similar to but weaker than Gallard's earthen ward to shield him against the inevitable wave of damage. Meanwhile, the shaman is too busy issuing orders and conjuring to move out of the fire.

The shaman taps into the power of flame to summon forth her flame archons, one of which immediately infuses itself into the warlock. Just before his eldritch blast connects, the shaman's spirit companion forms a shield around Torinn that can brunt quite a bit of damage, and the shield's formation discharges into a wave of destructive energy that strikes the burning dwarf. When he is immediately pierced through the chest by Myn's directed beam of energy, he explodes with flame, scorching the dragonborn and his mount. The half-orc barely manages to roll aside and avoid the explosion.

Meanwhile, the sorcerer sustains his tempest as he moves forward slightly. He calls forth a bolt of lightning to descend upon Sankis, but the wily dwarf deflects it with a strike from his double-axe. This movement, however, leads him open to another tentacle, which grasps him by the shoulder and engulfs him with a bitter, biting cold. Moments later, a fiery strike narrowly misses Myn, exploding into a flaming zone beneath his feet.

Bernkastel uses vengeful elementals.
Bernkastel dismisses her spirit companion and resummons it with sudden call.
Bernkastel spends an action point! Bernkastel uses granite armor, hitting Sankis for 16 damage. Sankis gains 1 charge of Burning Blood, and Torinn gains resist 7 all until the end of her next turn.
Bernkastel spends a vengeful elemental, and Myn crits Sankis with eldritch blast for 40 damage. Sankis gains a 2nd charge of Burning Blood and uses spontaneous combustion, missing Sureiya but hitting Torinn for 8 fire damage (increased to 13 and reduced to 6), and hitting Rutger but all damage is resisted. Torinn is bloodied.
Ramuh moves and sustains howling tempest. Ramuh misses with pinning bolt.
Myn sustains his tentacles, and moves around. He then uses the tentacle attack, hitting for 33 cold damage, and Sankis is grabbed (save ends).
Sankis's mastery of the leyline allows him to use channel the leyline, which uses flame strike, but misses Myn.
Torinn takes ongoing 5 fire damage (increased to 10 but reduced to 3).

Shouting whatever his unimportant god's name was, Torinn raises his longsword and swings it cleanly through Sankis, cutting through his armor like butter (with a loud CRACK) and breaking several of his ribs in the process. All can see for a moment that his weapon, infused by faith, clearly shines brighter than Sankis's flames, and this gives Rutger the strength to fight on.

Torinn then has Rutger step back as to admire his handiwork more fully.

Torinn's symbol places a divine curse on the dwarf before his blade finds its way through Sankis's armor and deep into his chest, searing him from inside out with divine radiance. The combined power of the artificer and the paladin reinforces both Torinn and his mount, and Sankis writhes briefly as the dragonborn withdraws his blade and leaps backwards. However, he stumbles back towards the burning dwarf as the flames continue to burn his flesh.

Sid moves next to one of the elementals in order to bolster his attack, and tosses another shielding flask in Torinn's direction. He then shoots a crossbow bolt into the air above Torinn, and it explodes, wrapping the paladin in aerial armor and kicking up a massive windstorm that slices into the nearby Sankis.

Despite the enormous beating Sankis has received so far, he shows few visible signs of being worn down aside from an enormous amount of obvious rage directed at Torinn.

Torinn uses symbol of the champion's code. Sankis can't make an attack that includes any creature other than Torinn as a target until the end of Torinn's next turn. Torinn gains 10 temporary hit points from Sid's arcane rejuvenation.
Torinn uses strike of hope with holy smite, critting for 41 radiant damage and Sankis is dazed until the end of Torinn's next turn. Sankis gains a 3rd charge of Burning Blood and Rutger gains 10 temporary hit points.
Torinn moves, then fails his saving throw. !!On Fire slides him back 3 squares, 1 of which he ignores.
Sid moves. Sid uses gale-force infusion, hitting for 17 damage. Sankis gains a 4th charge of Burning Blood. Torinn gains +7 power bonus to AC until the end of Sid's next turn. http://orokos.com/roll/265835

Sureiya stabs forward with his twin blades, placing both in Sankis's back. The burning dwarf roars with fury, but is unable to turn to face the half-orc due to the divine curse placed upon him by Torinn's holy symbol, and the ranger is able to follow up with another pair of quick slices which take off chunks of burning flesh.

Placing both feet firmly on the ground, Sankis's flames drive away both tentacles grasping him as he ignites Torinn. The inferno that engulfs the dragonborn quickly fades, but leaves him feeling befuddled. Sankis drives his burning double-axe directly into Torinn, and winces as it also slices into his own torso, and though Sid's infusion diverts much of the flaming explosion, Torinn is still left staggered.

Sureiya spends an action point! Sureiya uses twin strike twice, hitting four times for a total of 102 damage. Sankis is up to 6 charges of Burning Blood and is bloodied.
Sankis begins his turn and takes 5 cold damage and 5 thunder damage. He is up to 7 charges.

The shaman elects to stand in the fire a bit longer so she can infuse her archons and spirit companion into her comrades, though only Myn's eldritch blast manages to connect with the suddenly-nimble giant burning dwarf.

Bernkastel expends a vengeful elemental, and Myn's eldritch blast hits Sankis for 22 damage.
Bernkastel expends a vengeful elemental, and Sureiya's melee basic attack misses Sankis.
Bernkastel uses direct the strike, and Ramuh's dragonfrost misses Sankis.

Ramuh's lightning strike proves ineffectual against the stalwart dwarf-demon. Myn, however, though still burning, strides closer to the fiend and creates another icy tentacle, this one appearing out of a hole in mid-air. It grasps Sankis's horned helmet and restrains the fiery entity's movement, which does little more than increase his fury.

Channeling his fury into the leyline, Sankis calls down a flame strike, and though the big cat and warlock manage to avoid the worst of the flames, Torinn is engulfed and appears barely conscious as he grips his sword for the next round.

Ramuh moves and sustains his zone. Ramuh misses with lightning strike.
Myn takes ongoing 5 fire damage. Myn sustains his tentacles and conjures a 3rd. Myn moves.
Myn uses the tentacle attack power, hitting for 19 cold damage. Sankis gains a burning blood charge.
Sankis uses channel the leyline as part of mastery of the leyline. The leyline's flame strike hits Torinn for 21 fire damage plus ongoing 5 fire damage, but misses Rutger and Myn.
Torinn takes ongoing 5 fire damage.

Through force of will, Torinn comes back to his senses. The dragonborn is barely holding on, spots flashing before his eyes as unconsciousness threatens to overtake him. Still, he orders Rutger to move around the dazed Sankis until they're no longer in the burning zone. Situated next to the archon conjured by the shaman, Torinn takes a deep breath and roars, directing holy energy to protect Sureiya and slice Sankis at the point where it hurts the most: his beard.

"Your lukewarm embers have nothing on my inner fire," he growls defiantly, bolstering himself with healing radiance. The flames flicker, but don't go out... until he draws deep and puts them out through sheer force of will. Looking at Sankis with contempt, he motions for the former dwarf to come at him again.

Torinn's inner strength kicks in, and he looks back in action as he slices at the burning dwarf's torso with his radiant-infused blade, cutting off a chunk of the dwarf's beard and dazzling him with holy power. Taking advantage of the distraction, Torinn changes his position and shakes off the lingering flames that still clung to his frame.

Sid, lacking further salves, retreats a bit to the east and plugs Sankis with another crossbow bolt. Sankis explodes with flaming vengeance, but the paladin manages to shield himself with his shield even as the fires engulf Sureiya and Rutger.

Torinn's superior will save succeeds and he is no longer dazed.
Torinn uses strike of hope with holy smite, hitting for 29 radiant damage and Sankis is dazed until the end of his next turn.
Torinn uses restore vitality, regaining 25 hit points and failing the save.
Torinn succeeds at his end-of-turn save against ongoing fire damage.
Sid moves. Sid uses magic weapon, hitting Sankis for 18 damage. http://orokos.com/roll/266394 This gives Sankis a 2nd stack of Burning Blood, triggering spontaneous combustion, hitting Sureiya and Rutger for 14 fire damage (Rutger reduces to 4) but missing Torinn.

When Sureiya hesitates, Sankis opens his maw and breathes a massive wave of fire. Torinn is completely engulfed, and slumps slightly in his saddle. Rutger staggers from the repeated burning, and Myn seems barely affected, though the fiery zone renders him more vulnerable to the attack than he would otherwise be.

Sureiya delays.

Sankis withers under the force of Sureiya's slashing blades, doubles forward and nearly stumbles into Torinn's unconscious form, but the dragonborn snaps back to attention just as Rutger's claw slices neatly vertically down Sankis's middle.

"Argghhhh..." Sankis cries out, half-gurgling as he does so. "Ye ain't see... tha last o' me!" With this, his form dissolves back into the elemental maelstrom that you witnessed before, which begins to slowly drift upwards.

The air hangs heavy with tension, another fight is clearly coming soon. You have mere moments to prepare.

OOC: Mini-Rest Details: For the foreseeable future, your mini-rests will be handled as such:
-You may spend up to 2 healing surges as you would during a short rest.
-You may recover one encounter attack power and one encounter utility power. The utility power must have a level, ie be one of the powers you took at level 2, 6, 10, etc.
-You recover all encounter-based utility powers that do not have a level, such as leader heals, item encounter powers, and racial powers.
-You may position yourselves on the map, taking up to one full turn's worth of actions. You may ready an action if you forgo the mini-rest.

You may now take a mini-rest.

Myn waves goodbye to his tentacle friends, in a considerably good mood from the second slaying, and summons forth some shadowy worms to fling at the next foe. The leyline drifts roughly 15 feet above ground in the center of the arena, then, laughter begins to echo from it. It swirls violently and forms into a twelve-foot tall feathered fey humanoid that you recognize as Val'akir, the Vortex.

"This time, there's no escape!" the shrieks, and countless razor-sharp feathers begin to rain from the sky, and form into threatening-looking clouds around the lift. One set of feathers in particular is quite spiny, as if it would stick directly into your flesh and cling.

Val'akir Knowledge: (DC 27) (Traits) Val'akir's form appears similar only on a surface level, she is now much fiercer and a more capable combatant. (Val'akir is a level 11 solo artillery.) The wind fiend can shrug off mind-affection afflictions with ease, due to her nature as a minor elemental lord. (Val'akir has action recovery, which ends all dazing, dominating, or stunning effects on Val'akir at the end of her turn.) Her connection with the leyline allows her to call down bolts of lightning to strike her foes. (Mastery of the Leyline renders Val'akir immune to the leyline's attacks and zones. On an initiative count of Val'akir's initiative + 10, Val'akir can use channel the leyline as a free action. Using channel the leyline in this manner does not provoke opportunity attacks. If a dominating or stunning effect would prevent Val'akir from taking this action, that effects ends instead of Val'akir taking the action.) Val'akir possesses an uncanny ability to remain in flight, even if something would normally force her to the ground, though the effect will still leave her flying unsteadily for a time. (Steady flight means that if Val'akir would be knocked prone, she is instead slowed and grants combat advantage until the end of her turn.) Val'akir can control the nearby winds with expert precision, throwing her foes exactly where she wants them. (Slipstream is an aura 2. Whenever an enemy ends its turn in the aura, Val'akir can slide that creature 3 squares to another square in the aura.) Val'akir can fly (fly 8 hover), and possesses a small amount of resistance to lightning and thunder (resist 5 lightning/thunder).

(Standard Actions) Val'akir's claws are her primary method of attack, and she revels in rending the flesh from her enemies' bones. (Claw is Val'akir's melee basic at-will attack vs. AC, which only deals damage. When Val'akir uses claw on her own turn, she can use it against one or two creatures, and if she targets only one creature, she can use it twice against that creature. It has a melee reach of 2.) Additionally, Val'akir can utilize the airy leyline's lightning attacks to supplement her melee, in particular if she is unable to close with her foes, or if it is disadvantageous to do so. (Channel the leyline is a ranged attack that allows the leyline to use its at-will attack.) Val'akir's more powerful attack is a horrid blast of thunder which will bowl over enemies in front of Val'akir, though those who are first in the path will shield other behind them. (Mistral Shriek is a close blast 10, and targets the closest three creatures in the blast vs Fortitude. On a hit, the creature takes big thunder damage and is pushed 4 squares, and is dazed until the end of Val'akir's next turn. On a miss, they talk half damage and are pushed 2 squares. This is a rechargeable power.) Finally, when the wind fiend is cornered and overwhelmed, she can escape, leaving behind a cloud of plumes, and unleash a powerful ranged attack on her would-be aggressors, and distorts her image with air magic. (Displacement is an encounter power that recharges when Val'akir is first bloodied. First, Val'akir conjures two razor plumes in unoccupied squares in the slipstream. Next, Val'akir teleports 8 squares and can use either channel the leyline or mistral shriek if it is recharged. Until the start of Val'akir's next turn, whenever a melee or ranged attack hits her, it instead misses her if the attack roll was an odd number. If it is an even number, the attack hits as normal and this effect immediately ends.)

(Other Actions) Val'akir's slipstream occasionally pulses, so long as Val'akir can maintain her full concentration, sliding enemies in the aura along. (Slipstream pulse is a minor action attack in a close burst 2, vs. Fortitude. On a hit, it deals minor damage and slides the target 3 squares to another square in the aura.) When Val'akir is struck, she creates additional plumes every so often (once per round, whenever Val'akir is hit with an attack, she conjures a spiny plume in an unoccupied square in the slipstream aura if there are no spiny plumes within 20 squares of her and she is not bloodied. Otherwise, she conjures a razor plume instead.) Finally, when wounded, she will again displace herself, creating a storm of plumes in the process. This is merely an indicator that she is channeling all the leyline's power to unleash its ultimate attack. (When Val'akir is bloodied, she again conjures two razor plumes in unoccupied squares in the slipstream, and teleports 8 squares. The difference is that this time there is also one spiny plume in the mix, and the leyline gets a new turn on an initiative immediately before the current turn. On that initiative count, the leyline unleashes its ultimate attack, after which this "turn" is lost. The attack is made even if Val'akir is defeated. Val'akir is displaced in a similar manner to displacement as well.)

Plumes: The razor plumes and spiny plumes are magically-controlled feathers from Val'akir's body. They are razor-sharp and deadly to the touch, and deadly in great numbers. The razor plumes simply slice into anything nearby, and Val'akir can detonate the plumes in bursts that are as deadly as steel sharpnel. (Both razor plumes and spiny plumes are level 11 minions. The razor plumes are skirmishers, and spiny plumes are lurkers. They both have no land speed but can fly 8 (hover), they do not provoke opportunity attacks when moving. Razor plumes have a melee 1 attack vs. AC that deals damage. At the end of Val'akir's turn, she can command up to two razor plumes not conjured on her turn to use featherlance, an area burst 1 attack vs. Reflex that deals much heavier damage.) The spiny plumes are interesting--they tend to embed themselves in enemies and cause them minor pains, impeding movement all the while. It is possible to struggle free of this. When destroyed, they unleash a burst of wind in a large area that temporarily blocks out sound--including magical thunder. (Spiny plumes have a cling attack, which is a melee 1 attack vs. Reflex. On a hit, the spiny plume "grabs" the target, but it is not immobilized. Instead, the spiny plume enters the target's square without provoking opportunity attacks, and moves with the target until escape (DC 19). On escape, the spiny plume remains in the vacated square. While "grabbed," the target takes ongoing 5 damage and is slowed. When the spiny plume is destroyed, at the end of the current turn, it makes an attack in a close burst 2 that is vs. Fortitude. On a hit, the target takes heavy damage and becomes vulnerable 15 thunder (save ends). The burst creates a zone that lasts 1 round (until the end of the current combatant's next initiative), while in the zone creatures are defeaned and gain resist 50 thunder. Plumes have no initiative and act immediately after Val'akir.)

Leyline Knowledge (DC 19): The leyline is much as you remember it from before, though in addition to its standard, now purely-based lightning attack, it has an even more potent, massive thunder-based attack. (The airy leyline is level 11.) Val'akir has access to all of its power, though channeling its ultimate strike takes a great deal of strength, and can only be managed sporadically.

The shaman has trouble summarizing Val'akir's ability array, and speaks after some thought. "Ms. Val'akir conjures plumes, teleports, and shrieks, but she's otherwise completely different from before. After teleporting, she becomes hard to hit until hit. Plumes fall off when she's hit. The sharp ones can use stronger attacks after a few seconds. Spiny ones will cling to us and explode when dispersed, but create an area that can help shield us from the leyline's big attack, which Ms. Val'akir will trigger when heavily wounded."

Once the shaman relays what she knows of the plumes, Sid adds, "Hey, when you get struck or near-struck by lightning from the leyline, you need to get clear of the rest of us, at least by fifteen or so feet! Or else we'll also get some lightning and stuck in place!" Sid calls out. "And when she's preppin' her big attack, we should find somewhere safe--like one of the safe zones those spiky feathers provide!"

Myn's conjured mass of worms gets lost in the whirling air surrounding Val'akir, and Ramuh's burst of frost doesn't fare much better. Laughing, the elemental queen gestures, and a lightning bolt strikes the shaman, charging her with electric energy that will soon discharge, which would be quite hazardous to her nearby allies.

Sid takes a position behind his stalwart melee companions, and quickly gives Torinn a shielding infusion, just in case things start to go poorly. He then charges both their weapons with magic energy discharged from his firing hand crossbow, and the fired bolt strikes true, catching the fiend in the back. This only seems to annoy Val'akir, and she swoops behind Sid, raking the gnome with her giant claws. Though Sid manages to shied himself with his arms somewhat, he is still thrown back when the bird-like fiend unleashes an ear-piercing shriek, the force of which blows back the artificer, the ranger, and the paladin, though all three seemed to hold up well against the blast, all things considered.

The plumes then descend upon the group, one managing a lucky hit through Torinn's armor, and Myn getting sliced and diced by whirling blade-like feathers. Another bothers Sid, and another the shaman, though for now she appears unfazed by it. The spiny plume floats over and attempts to embed itself in Ramuh, but the genasi fends it off quite handily.

Myn's readied action darkworm feast misses Val'akir.
Ramuh uses calculated acumen, learning that Val'akir has no discernible weaknesses. He also gains combat advantage against her until the end of his next turn.
Ramuh's dragonfrost misses Val'akir.
Val'akir's mastery of the leyline allows her to use channel the leyline, and the leyline's thunderstruck hits Bernkastel for 14 lightning damage. At the end of her turn, she will deal 3d10 lightning damage to allies within 2 squares of her, and such creatures will be immobilized (save ends).
Sid moves. Sid uses resistive formula on Torinn. Sid uses magic weapon, hitting Val'akir for 10 damage. Rutger, Torinn, and Sureiya gain a +1 power bonus to attack rolls and +5 power bonus to damage rolls until the end of Sid's next turn. http://orokos.com/roll/267222 Val'akir conjures a razor plume.
Val'akir flies unimpeded over the melee line, then uses claw, attacking Sid twice, missing once and hitting once for 17 damage.
Val'akir spends an action point! Val'akir uses mistral shriek, missing Torinn, Sid, and Sureiya for 12 thunder damage and pushing them 2 squares (Torinn reduces to 1).
Razor plumes 1 and 2 move, one missing Torinn and one hitting Torinn for 9 damage.
Razor plumes 3 and 4 move, hitting Myn twice for 9 damage and 9 damage.
Razor plumes 5 and 6 move, missing Bernkastel and hitting Sid for 9 damage.
Spiny plume 1 moves, and misses Ramuh with cling.

The smaller spirit disperses the nearby plumes and lures Val'akir closer to the ground. Meanwhile, the taller spirit makes an appearance and slashes at Val'akir, disappearing with a gust of wind, but it turns out Val'akir (to the spirit's actual surprise) has a better control of the domain of air.

Just before the swarm of razor plumes slices into Torinn's flesh, Rutger's claw disperses it. The psychic emanation emitted by the screaming spirit as it dissolves also scatters two nearby clouds of plumes, and Val'akir is pulled closer to the ground in the process.

The shaman then moves and attempts to use her secondary spirit to attack, but is slightly too slow, and the wily wind fiend evades the spirit's scythe. Quickly, the shaman calls her first companion back to the fray.

Rutger's claw hits plume 1 and destroys it before it hits Torinn. Sureiya delays.
Bernkastel's emerald lure hits Val'akir for 15 psychic damage, and hits and destroys razor plumes 2 and 6. Bernkastel pulls Val'akir 1 square.
Bernkastel summons the spirit of athas. The attack misses and it is dismissed. She resummons her spirit with sudden call.

Val'akir lets loose an angry screech as the half-orc and his blades dance around her, slashing and slashing again. Though he does not seem to wound her severely, his slashes do force her to turn her attention to the half-orc to deflect the blows, and she seems to draw into herself defensively as she does so. Several feathers fall to the ground, and these do not appear animate.

The half-orc pauses for a split-second, which is all the time Val'akir needs to take advantage of it and whip up a whirlwind that carries Sureiya to a less advantageous position, near a cloud of plumes that looks ready to explode violently outwards and slice the ranger up.

Sureiya sets his quarry. Sureiya uses attacks on the run with inevitable strike, hitting twice for 30 damage and 26 damage, and Val'akir is slowed and takes a -2 penalty to attack rolls against Sureiya until the end of Sureiya's next turn.
Sureiya's off-hand strike hits for 26 damage.
Sureiya gets slid by the slipstream.

Torinn reaches into his deepest reserves of strength, and his scales seem to harden and become nigh-impervious to damage through sheer force of will. As the paladin rides around the elemental, he finds an opening and quickly lunges forward to strike at her again with his holy blade, nicking her across the wrist. In the process, Sureiya is inspired by his actions, and seems to perk up slightly.

Ramuh is entirely comfortable with his present location, and fires off a blast of lightning at Vala. Part of the lightning zaps over to obliterate the annoying plume near Sureiya. Seeing this result, Ramuh decides to edge closer.

Minor: Promise of storm
Standard: Attack Val'akir with lightning strike

(Hit plume near Sureiya with auto-damage)
Move: shift to M19

Myn regains some resilience from his allies' pain, and unleashes his vile curse upon the elemental. A radiant crown appears upon his head, and as he and his owlbear move across the battlefield, he unleashes a radiant beam which pierces Val'akir in the shoulder, eliciting another shriek. Ramuh's own lightning is successful in striking Val'akir as well, and his sorcerous prowess allows him to ignore the elemental's resistance, and a stray bolt chains to the nearby cloud of plumes and disperses it.

A bolt of lightning strikes near the shaman once again, and while it charges her with electric energy that will soon discharge, it does not connect directly. Sid tosses a healing canister over to the shaman, and as she breathes in the gas and gains its resilience, he moves up and strikes Val'akir with another enchanted bolt, this one discharging its energy into Sureiya's weapons once more.

"DIE! DIE! Die! DIE! Diiie!" screams Val'akir, and she vanishes into a cloud of plumes, which descend and coalesce into two distinct clouds. She then reappears near the shaman and warlock, and the whirlwind that surrounds her pulses, pulling Myn and "Bernkastel" along and bunching them together in front of her. Another lightning bolt strikes down near the warlock, and while it charges him, it doesn't really come close to hitting him.

The razor plumes slide across the battlefield, slicing into the shaman and Ramuh, but missing the warlock and Torinn. The spiny plume attempts to cling to the shaman as well, but seems to get caught in a bad wind and misses.

Myn regains 5 hit points from life siphon. Myn curses Val'akir and moves.
Myn uses crown of stars, hitting Val'akir for 28 radiant damage.
Myn spends an action point! Myn uses blazing starfall, hitting plume 3 and destroying it but missing plume 4.
Myn's owlbear gets slid 3 squares by slipstream.
Ramuh uses promise of storm. Ramuh shifts and uses lightning strike, hitting for 27 lightning damage and destroying the nearby plume.
Val'akir uses channel the leyline via mastery of the leyline, missing Bernkastel. Bernkastel gains the effect of thunderstruck.
Sid moves. Sid uses magic weapon, hitting for 19 damage, and Sureiya gains a +1 power bonus to attack and +5 power bonus to damage until the end of his next turn. Sid uses resistive formula on Bernkastel. http://orokos.com/roll/268042
Val'akir uses displacement, conjuring two razor plumes and then teleporting 8 squares. She gains the effect of displacement until the end of her next turn. Val'akir uses channel the leyline but misses Myn. Myn gains the effect of thunderstruck.
She then moves down and uses slipstream pulse, hitting Myn and Bernkastel for 10 damage and slides them 3 squares. Bernkastel activates resistive formula and gains 21 temporary hit points.
Val'akir flies down to 1/3 elevation. The plumes move.
Razor plume 4 misses Myn with slice.
Razor plume 5 hits Bernkastel with slice for 9 damage.
Razor plume 10 misses Torinn with slice. Razor plume 11 hits Ramuh with slice for 9 damage.
Spiny plume 1 misses Bernkastel.

Why me?

The shaman quickly moves away from Myn, and the smaller spirit infuses Ramuh to hopefully help make Val'akir easier to hit in the future.

Move action: to P-16. SC next to Ramuh.
Standard action: Spirit Infusion for Ramuh's Dragonfrost, hoping he uses his double roll. If that fails, MAYBE the triple roll. We bloody Val'akir in about 44 more damage, and she will become Displaced again then, but maybe we need to dispel the Displacement to do the 44 damage in the first place. (Natural 6, 23 vs. fortitude and 24 damage) http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4807970/
- Also, if it hits, please push Val'akir to O/Q-10/12 elevation 0.
- The attack has a +2 power bonus and a +1 item bonus to attack, and a +5 power bonus to damage.
Minor action: Call SC. Position depends on Ramuh's attack. Either way, Myn gets 4 THP.
- If Ramuh hits, SC to N-13, elevation 1.
- If Ramuh misses, SC to M-13, elevation 1.

The shaman moves, and though Val'akir swipes at her as she goes, she moves too quickly and the attack whiffs. Infusing her spirit into Ramuh, the sorcerer's burst of frost energy elicits a screech from Val'akir, and she is briefly driven back before she again dissolves into a cloud of plumes, which form two additional clusters of razor-sharp feathers.

"THE RECKONING COMES!!" Val'akir yells, her blurred image restored as she tucks her body in, gathering all the ambient power in the leyline chamber to herself. The airy leyline thrums with great power, and begins to glow brightly as air currents throughout the entire chamber grow stronger, forming a whirling vortex centered on the lift itself. Even as the ominous threat of the leyline's most powerful attack looms over your heads, the shaman recalls her spirit next to the warlock and the spiny plume.

Bernkastel moves, and Val'akir's claw misses her.
Bernkastel uses spirit infusion, and dragonfrost, hitting for 24 cold damage and pushing her 1 square. This bloodies Val'akir and triggers aerial armor; Val'akir conjures two razor plumes and teleports 8 squares, gaining the effect of displacement once again.
The shaman resummons her spirit. Her thunderstruck effect ends.

Myn's psychic emanations successfully affects the nearby plumes, and they fall to the ground, inanimate. The area where the spiny plume was swells with energy, however, and Myn remains close as his radiant blast disperses another cloud of plumes, and the unfortunate half-elf is caught in the blast as it explodes outwards, and immediately all sound is blocked for Myn--he can no longer hear a thing, and the air here feels completely and artificially still, as if no magic thunder could pierce the barrier. Despite the protection offered by the zone, Myn feels as though he nevertheless is more vulnerable to thunder.

Torinn deftly slashes through one plume cloud with an utterly savage and majestic swipe of his blade, then darts into the protective zone and unleashes his dragon breath on the other two nearby plume clouds. All three end up completely dispersed, leaving Sureiya to hurl his blades at the distant Val'akir once he too enters the protective bubble, striking two solid hits.

Myn uses all the sand, all the stars, hitting and destroying the spiny plume, razor plume 5, and razor plume 13.
Myn moves and sustains crown of stars, hitting and destroying plume 11. At the end of Myn's turn, the spiny plume's downburst hits the warlock for 15 thunder damage and both become vulnerable 15 thunder until the end of Myn's next turn.
Torinn's valiant strike hits and destroys plume 10. He then moves, and dragon breath hits and destroys the remaining two plumes.
Sureiya moves, then uses twin strike (ranged) against Val'akir. He hits once for 14 damage, ending the effect of displacement, and then hits for 13 damage.

Ramuh moves into the protective zone and launches a bolt that knocks the wind fiend off-balance in mid flight. A bolt of lightning descends, but looks as though it was barely even aimed at Myn, and only the residual charge builds on his body. Sid quickly moves to the center, and attempts to fire another enchanting bolt at Val'akir, but moves too hastily in his rush to apply his slick concoction to the party, and the shaman and the owlbear slide on the oil-like substance into the safe zone.

The second bolt Sid first with a sudden burst of resolve strikes true, and the magic of the hand crossbow discharges, enchanting the weapons and implements of most of the party. It's at this point that Val'akir again displaces herself, moving to the south side of the arena and blurring her image. Another thunderbolt descends and nearly strikes the paladin, but he finds it much easier to twist out of the way because of the oil greasing his armor. Two clouds of plumes form and drift over to the party, slicing into both Torinn and the warlock, leaving Myn looking severely wounded.

He's barely left standing after there's an enormous burst of thunder strikes in the center of the lift, but the barely-visible wave of energy rebounds as it hits the zone created by the spiny plume. Though the effect is severely dampened, the party does still somewhat feels the force of the blow, though they can't hear the enormous crack of thunder that heralded its arrival.

Val'akir appears to be screaming something, but nobody in the party can hear it at this point.

Ramuh moves and uses pinning bolt, hitting Val'akir for 22 damage. Val'akir is slowed and grants combat advantage until the end of her turn.
Val'akir's mastery of the leyline allows her to use channel the leyline, and the leyline's thunderstruck misses Myn.
Sid moves and uses slippery concotion. He slides the owlbear and Bernkastel, and all his allies gain a +4 bonus to Reflex until the end of his next turn.
Sid uses magic weapon and misses with a natural 1. http://orokos.com/roll/268914
Sid spends an action point! Sid uses magic weapon and hits Val'akir for 26 damage. http://orokos.com/roll/268915 Torinn, Sureiya, Myn, Rutger, and Bernkastel gain a +1 power bonus to attack rolls and +5 power bonus to damage rolls until the end of Sid's next turn.
Val'akir uses displacement, teleporting 8 squares and using channel the leyline, barely missing Torinn. Torinn is thunderstruck.
The two new razor plumes move and then use slice, hitting Torinn for 9 damage and critting Myn for 9 damage.
The leyline uses aerial blast, hitting the entire party for 60 thunder damage (party reduces to 10, except for Myn, who reduces to 25 thunder damage.

Torinn's own protective shield prevents Myn from becoming seriously injured, and the shaman's spirit heals the wounds he does sustain. However, even its direction cannot pierce the displacement effect, and the warlock's guided blast only hits a mirror image of Val'akirs. As the warlock saunters off, he attempts a blast of radiance, which also connects only with a mirror image. Annoyed, Myn turns to a psychic attack, and though it takes so much concentration that he himself suffers some psychic backlash, he manages to inflict great pain upon the wind fiend, and she screams as her images vanish.

The protective bubble fades away as Myn's electric energy discharges harmlessly, and Torinn strikes down a cloud of plumes even as another forms near Val'akir. The paladin rides his big cat underneath the elemental and awaits an opportunity. Sureiya hurls his magic boomerang blade twice, but the wily elemental laughs as it dances out of the way of both airborne attacks. Her laughter is cut short when a bolt of lightning is directed upon her head by Ramuh, and it arcs to dissipate the newly-formed cloud of plumes.

"No matter! YOU DIE NOW!" Val'akir yells, calling down a lightning bolt of her own, which is deftly dodged by the shaman. Sid fires another enchanted bolt, and moves over to Sureiya to provide him with another magical bonus. Val'akir lunges savagely forward, engulfing nearly all of the adventurers in her slipstream, which pulses savagely, sliding the adventurers along. Ramuh narrowly avoids a savage hit by teleporting out of the burst and unleashing a psychic attack in retaliation, which elicits an incoherent shriek of rage from the elemental, and she lashes out again and again with her claws, alternately hitting and missing both the shaman and the artificer, who both end up bloodied by the assault.

Finally, as if as an afterthought, the remaining cloud of plumes drifts over and slices into Ramuh.

Torinn's righteous shield allows Torinn to take damage from the attack instead of Myn. Torinn takes 15 thunder damage (reduced from 25).
Bernkastel uses healing spirit, Myn spends a surge and regains 22 hit points, and Sid regains 12 hit points. Then allies in the battle standard regain 3 hit points. The shaman uses spirit infusion, but Myn's eldritch blast misses due to displacement.
Bernkastel resummons her spirit.
Myn's crown of stars attack misses Val'akir due to displacement. Myn moves.
Myn uses shared agony against Val'akir, hitting after the reroll for 45 psychic damage. Myn takes 6 psychic damage.
Val'akir creates a razor plume. The protective zone disappears.
Torinn hits and destroys plume 14 with valiant strike, then moves.
Sureiya moves and misses Val'akir twice with twin strike (ranged).
Ramuh uses lightning strike, hitting Val'akir for 20 lightning damage and striking the plume she just created at R-14 and destroying it.
Val'akir misses Bernkastel with thunderstruck, and the shaman gains the effect of thunderstruck.
Sid moves. Sid uses magic weapon, hitting Val'akir for 12 damage. Bernkastel and Sureiya gain a +1 power bonus to attack rolls and +5 power bonus to damage rolls until the end of Sid's next turn.
Val'akir flies. Val'akir uses slipstream pulse, hitting Torinn, Rutger, Bernkastel, and Sureiya for 6 damage and sliding them 3 squares within the slipstream aura. Ramuh is crit for 16 damage, but slaad's gambit allows him to avoid the attack and teleports. It misses Val'akir for 15 psychic damage.
Torinn and Rutger reduce to 0.
Val'akir uses claw, missing Bernkastel and CRITTING Sid for 30 damage.
Val'akir spends an action point! Val'akir uses claw, hitting Bernkastel for 20 damage and missing Sid with a natural 1. Sureiya uses disruptive strike but misses Val'akir.
Razor plume 15 drifts over and uses slice, hitting Ramuh for 9 damage.

The shaman's taunts towards the elemental lord restore Sid's vitality, and he looks much more hale and hearty than before. Directing an eldritch strike from Myn, she retreats, and the beam pierces Val'akir through briefly.

However, this serves to direct Val'akir's attention on the warlock, so she dodges nimbly to the side of the next blast he sends her away. She growls and flexes her claws, and is seared by the radiance of Myn's glowing crown for this impudent action.

Bernkastel uses inspiring word, Sid spends a healing surge to regain 34 hit points, and everyone in the party except Torinn and Rutger regains 3 hit points from the battle standard of healing.
Bernkastel uses direct the strike, and Myn's eldritch blast hits Val'akir for 27 damage. Bernkastel moves. Val'akir conjures a razor plume.
Myn moves, then uses eldritch blast but misses Val'akir. Myn sustains crown of stars, hitting for 13 radiant damage.

Torinn's devotion allows him to bestow Bahamut's favor upon Sid, and the healing energies restore the tinker gnome's health. Torinn rides underneath the fiend, her claw deflecting off his armor as he does so. His sword slices into her flank, thanks to Rutger providing a little extra height for him to reach her.

"NOOOO!" Val'akir screeches, even as Sureiya resorts to hurling his magical blade once again. This time, he manages to strike her in the neck, and the fiend's eyes roll back in her head as she falls backwards, nearly directly on top of the paladin and his mount. Just before her body dissolves into the maelstrom, an extraneous lightning blast from Ramuh strikes it. The maelstrom drifts back to the center of the lift, dislodging the battle standard in the process.

Torinn's shield of devotion allows Sid to regain 5 hit points.
Torinn moves, and Val'akir's claw misses. Torinn's valiant strike hits for 15 damage.
Sureiya uses twin strike (ranged), hitting once for 24 damage. This defeats Val'akir.
Ramuh's lightning strike hits the corpse.

Suddenly, the maelstrom flattens and transforms into a black portal on the surface of the lift. With a hideous bubbling sound, the adventurer's quick breather is interrupted by a horribly, slimy, purple-skinned monster emerging from the black pool. Near the two gathered groups of adventurers, tentacles that are about eight feet around and sixteen feet tall erupt from similar black portals on the ground, and the nightmare itself is roughly dome-shaped, about twelve feet tall and fifteen feet across. Its yellow eyes will haunt you until the end of days, and smaller tentacles cling close to its body.

Hemah's voice echoes in your heads, "The nightmare has pierced the veil once more..."

Two smaller tentacles are added to the appendages arrayed against the adventurers, and a swirling vortex of water begins to surround the nightmare, threatening to engulf those unfortunate enough to be caught nearby, unless they quickly make their escape.

Sid doesn't seem to know what to say about the nightmare, though he becomes aware that it has no particular resistances of vulnerabilities. As Myn prepares to spring into action, the eye tentacle fixes its gaze on him and blasts him with a beam of green energy that, upon striking the warlock, causes him a small amount of psychic pain.

Hemah's nightmare's turn begins and it uses spawn tentacles, conjuring an eye tentacle and a constrictor tentacle.
Hemah's nightmare uses water wall, creating its zone (see notes for details). The attack misses Ramuh, Bernkastel, and the owlbear, and all three must now immediately shift to the nearest square outside the zone or be hit by the attack instead.
At the start of Myn's turn, the eye tentacle's eye beam hits him for 9 psychic damage.

Knowledge (Myn): The watery leyline is a level 12 hazard that is much like the other leylines you have encountered. Only Hemah's nightmare can command it. Naturally, it has no intiative, and acts on an initiative count of the nightmare's -10. Its primary attack, water bombs, is an area burst 1 attack that can hit anywhere within the leyline's line of effect. It deals damage and slows on a hit, which is a vs. Reflex attack. The burst also creates a zone that lasts until the end of the encounter, the zone is difficult terrain, and any creature that enters the zone falls prone. It should be noted that the attack not only targets each creature in the burst, but also each creature in any of the existing zones.

Knowledge (Sid): Sid has never encountered a monstrosity such as this--he is aware of its power as a level 12 lurker, and the tentacles are all level 11. The crushers are brutes, the eye tentacles minion artillery, the constrictor tentacles minion controllers, and the corrupter tentacles minion lurkers. As conjured minions, they have no initiative, and act only through triggered actions. The crusher tentacles however are not minions and have their own initiative count. A huge aberrant magical beast, this aquatic abomination is clearly a denizen of the Far Realms, and seeks to dominate all around it--either by destroying them or overpowering their minds. When it determines that its foes are worthy, it will switch from its water-based attacks to an attempt at psychic domination.

The owlbear and others nearly caught in the forming wall of water dodge deftly out of the way, and Myn strides north, unleashing his curse upon one of the larger tentacles before blasting it with psychic power.

The other large tentacle moves suddenly, and the resulting tremor knocks Torinn's big cat of its feet, though manages to turn the descending tentacle aside enough to avoid being slammed to the ground himself.

Myn's owlbear, Bernkastel, and Ramuh shift out of the zone.
Myn and his owlbear move. Myn curses crusher tentalce 2 and uses shared agony, hitting for 31 psychic damage.
Crusher tentacle 1 uses crush, missing Torinn but hitting Rutger and Rutger falls prone. Then crusher tentacle 1 uses slam, but misses Torinn.

The tentacle's thick hide repels Torinn's assault. Sureiya looks ready for action, but the smaller, wiry tentacle wraps itself around one of his legs and holds him in place.

Rutger stands, and Torinn uses valiant strike but misses the crusher tentacle.
At the start of Sureiya's turn, the constrictor tentacle uses grasp, which hits, and Sureiya is grabbed by the tentacle (escape DC 27).

"First fire, then air, now water... They come marching to death one by one!" Ramuh mutters, as he taps into his inner storm and moves away. With a flick of his staff, Ramuh calls down a whirling torrent of storms, battering the tentacle right into the watery wall. The elder follows up his attack with a precise bolt of lightning, blasting the cretin with lightning as residual energy frees Sureiya from his unfortunate position.

Free: Stow Staff, get Stormfury Staff out
Minor: Activate Promise of Storm.

Standard: Howling Hurricane centred on P-9 with Guidance of the Past.

Slide: -IF- the tentacle counts as Hemah for the purposes of determining how the wall affects it, I'd rather not move it into there if doing so means it gains cover and is not blinded. If such information cannot be known, I choose not to move it. If it DOES NOT count as Hemah and is treated as a different creature (thus, blinded and does not gain cover from being in the wall of water), I shall slide it one right, to O/P 9/10

Sureiya eyes the nearby tentacles, and slashes twice at the one around his leg, though it writhes nimbly out of the way of both attacks. Annoyed, the half-orc slices into the larger tentacle instead. This causes it to start to thrash wildly, even as Ramuh calls down a veritable storm upon the undamaged larger tentacle, though it appears unable to push it around. It too begins to wildly thrash, and the larger tentacle near the grouped adventurers in the east slams forward, the resulting tremor knocking over Sid, Sureiya, and the owlbear.

However, it only manages to slam into the ground, and Sid scrambles quickly out of the way, pulling himself to his feet and taking a safer position out of the tentacle's threatening reach. He pulls a spherical device out of his pocket and hurls it into the air, and it whirs to life and begins to hover in the air. A single red eye on the sphere begins to whirl around its circumference, shining a targeting laser upon the nearby foes. At this point, a huge glob of water is conjured in the sky above Sid and the half-orc, and unceremoniously drops upon them both. Sureiya is quick enough to dodge away, but Sid is too preoccupied with his targeting sphere and is struck savagely, causing him to stumble off-balance, and both find themselves knee-deep in a strangely viscous puddle of water.

With an unearthly sound, the nightmarish monstrosity turns towards the paladin, and gathers up its water wall in front of its form, and it transforms into a crashing wave that washes over Torinn, his mount, and the unfortunate genasi who just happened to be somewhat nearby. Though the dragonborn is able to deflect part of the wave with his shield, Rutger and Ramuh are knocked over by the full force of the wave.

As Myn regains his focus, he finds a new tentacle clouding his mind, inciting a brief panic within him that forces him to run blindly towards the huge crusher tentacle. The same eye tentacle from before also zaps him in the head with a beam of psionic energy.

Sureiya sets his quarry.
Sureiya's twin strike misses the constrictor tentacle but hits crusher tentacle 2 for 19 damage.
Sureiya's off-hand strike misses the constrictor tentacle.
Bernkastel moves and moves her spirit. Bernkastel uses speak with spirits and spirit infusion, but Myn's eldritch blast misses the crusher tentacle.
Ramuh's howling tempest hits crusher tentacle 1 for 31 thunder damage and creates the howling tempest zone. However, it is immune to forced movement via push, pull, or slide.
Ramuh spends an action point! Ramuh uses lightning strike, hitting crusher tentacle 1 for 23 lightning damage and the lightning chains to constrictor tentacle 1, killing it.
Crusher tentacle 2 uses crush, hitting Sid, Sureiya, and Myn's owlbear, knocking them all prone. Crusher tentacle's slam misses Sid with a natural 1.
Sid stands from prone. Sid shifts. Sid spends an action point! Sid uses punishing eye.
Hemah's nightmare's mastery of the leyline allows him to use channel the leyline, and water bomb misses Sureiya but hits Sid for 19 damage, and Sid is slowed (save ends).
Hemah's nightmare conjures 2 another eye tentacle and a corrupter tentacle.
Hemah's nightmare uses the water wall attack, hitting Rutger and Ramuh for 20 damage and pushing them 3 squares and knocking them prone. Torinn is missed for 10 damage.
Hemah's nightmare spends an action point! Hemah's nightmare uses water wall again, recreating its zone.
Myn's turn begins, and the eye tentacle 1 crits Myn for 9 psychic damage with eye beam. The corrupter tentacle uses cause fear, hitting Myn and sliding him 4 squares.

Ramuh, however, has a magic shield for just such an occasion, and its projection blunts the blow of the oncoming wave of water--the genasi ends up pushed back only slightly. Myn draws sustenance from his allies' pain, and attempts to turn it against the nearby crusher tentacle, and the eldritch beam strikes home, ripping through its armored exterior and piercing the blackened interior of the tentacle. Myn draws some of its lingering power for himself as his curse dissipates briefly before he reapplies it.

The enormous tentacle again tries to slam the dragonborn to the ground, but again his magicked armor proves too much for it to overcome.

Ramuh's sudden scales causes the water wall attack to miss him for 10 damage and he is only pushed 1 square.
Myn's life siphon heals him for 5 hit points. Myn shifts.
Myn uses eldritch blast and hits crusher tentacle 2 for 35 damage. This bloodies it. Myn takes his bloodied boon and then places his curse back on the tentacle.
Crusher tentacle 1 uses slam but misses Torinn, and Torinn is out of range of crush.

Torinn gives a boost to his mount after it takes the brunt of the attack, and has it stand back up. He himself calls upon his god to give him strength and speed to smite his foes. The floating sphere Sid conjured shoots a weaker beam of purplish energy that strikes the tentacle in tandem with Myn's eldritch beam, and Torinn's devotion aids his fallen mount. As Rutger pulls himself to his feet, Torinn calls upon a virtuous spirit for empowerment, and glows with divine energy briefly before Rutger quickly closes the gap between paladin and tentacle. A mighty slash of his sword rips the tentacle's fleshy exterior open, and it reels in apparent agony--but Torinn is not done yet. The battle-cat gets its revenge as well, pouncing and tearing at the tentacle as well, and though the tentacle doesn't look inconvenienced by being knocked over, it is quite damaged, with several large gouges in its armored form.

Crusher tentacle 2 takes 5 psychic damage from punishing eye.
Torinn's shield of devotion allows Rutger to regain 5 hit points and Torinn gains a +2 power bonus to his next attack roll.
Rutger stands from prone and Torinn uses spirit of the virtuous charger.
Torinn charges the crusher tentacle with holy smite, hitting for 22 damage plus 9 radiant damage, and the tentacle is dazed until the end of Torinn's next turn.
Torinn spends an action point! Rutger's battle pounce hits the crusher tentacle 1 for 25 damage. It cannot be knocked prone because of its unnatural form, but it takes an extra 5 damage and grants combat advantage until the end of its next turn.

Sureiya's magic boots propel him to his feet, and his blades flash again, one being repelled by the tentacle's tough hide but the other slicing through, spilling green blood on the lift. A beam from Sid's floating sphere blasts it as well. The shaman recalls her spirit before infusing it into Sureiya, and though he stabs forth again and drives his blade into the tentacle, this blow is not sufficient to put an end to the tentacle's thrashing about.

Ramuh shifts the position of his whirling hurricane, and a mighty bolt summoned by the genasi electrifies the enormous tentacle on the western edge of the lift, and it writhes briefly before pulling itself into the black pool it was emerging from. The pool then dissipates, leaving naught a trace of the tentacle behind. One of the eye tentacles is also struck by a residual tendril of lightning from the blast, and falls over dead. It lies limp on the ground momentarily before dissolving into black smoke.

When the remaining crusher tentacle attempts to assault the adventurers gathered around it, Sureiya finishes it by withdrawing his blade and stabbing forward again, this time a little higher--the tentacle pauses mid-slam and shudders, then retreats through the black portal that granted it entry to this plane, which then vanishes. There is a horrible reverberation from the nightmare, and though the water wall blocks you from gazing upon its visage, you can feel an ominous shift in atmosphere.

Sid hops out of the lingering viscous puddle before tossing a healing canister at Sureiya's feet, which then reinforces the half-orc's vigor, and he places a crossbow bolt in the eye of the remaining eye tentacle, which explodes into black smoke upon impact. Shaking his boots, he also clears the last of the gunk from them. It is at this point that another enormous globule of water falls from the sky, this time completely bowling over Sureiya once again, Myn manages to not avoid it as well. The ranger again finds himself knee-deep in the gunk, and the warlock is also rather stuck. This is followed by an enormous wave of water, formed from the barrier that once protected the nightmare, which completely knocks over Sureiya and pushes him further from his objective. Myn is caught in the wave as well, though he seems to fair better, despite coming out looking half-drowned.

The nightmare roars and fixes its gaze on the party, and it feels as though reality is breaking down as you look upon the creature. It latches onto the psyches of Sid and Sureiya, and both briefly writhe in agony as the creature's psychic dominance floods their minds. Myn is accosted by a new eye tentacle, which blasts him solidly in the chest, and the fallen Sureiya notices another constrictor worming its way towards his prone form.

Sureiya stands from prone. Sureiya uses twin strike, hitting once for 18 damage. Punishing eye deals 5 psychic damage.
At the start of Bernkastel's turn,
Bernkastel uses call spirit companion. Bernkastel uses spirit infusion, and Sureiya's melee basic attack hits the tentacle for 21 damage, and punishing eye deals 5 psychic damage. Myn and Sid gain 4 temporary hit points.
Ramuh moves his zone and uses lightning strike, hitting the crusher tentacle 1 for 30 lightning damage, which destroys it. The nightmare is bloodied. The chain lightning damage kills eye tentacle 1.
Crusher tentacle 2 uses crush, but Sureiya interrupts with disruptive strike, hitting for 18 damage, destroying the tentacle. http://orokos.com/roll/270887
Sid moves. Sid uses resistive formula on Sureiya. Sid uses magic weapon, hitting eye tentacle 2 and destroying it. http://orokos.com/roll/270861 Sid saves against being slowed. http://orokos.com/roll/270930
The leyline's Water bombs crits Sureiya for 31 damage and hits Myn for 17 damage, both are slowed (save ends).
Hemah's nightmare spawns tentacles, conjuring an eye tentacle and a constrictor tentacle.
Hemah's nightmare uses the water wall secondary attack power, hitting Sureiya for 20 damage, pushing him 3 squares and knocking him prone. Sureiya activates resistive formula to blunt the blow. Myn is missed for 10 damage and pushed 1 square. Myn is bloodied.
With the water wall dispersed, the party is subject to the nightmare's maddening presence.
Hemah's nightmare spends an action point! Hemah's nightmare uses glimpse the unthinkable, hitting Sid and Sureiya for 17 psychic damage and both suffer a -3 penalty to their next saving throw.
At the start of Myn's turn, eye tentacle 3 uses eye beam and crits Myn for 9 psychic damage. Corrupter tentacle 1 misses Myn with cause fear, and Myn takes ongoing 5 psychic damage.

The warlocks oft-forgotten owlbear companion crawls along the ground as Myn moves out of the rather large puddle before applying his curse to the octopus-like monstrosity, and then unleashes a psychic attack upon it in kind, his glare piercing through the psionic defenses of the creature and leaving it reeling as flames briefly erupt over its unnatural form. As an afterthought, Myn shakes off the lingering viscous fluid clinging to his legs.

Myn moves and his owlbear crawls. Myn curses the nightmare and uses spiteful glamor with his gloves of eldrtich admixture, which hits for 31 psychic and fire damage. He saves against being slowed and is not dazed. Punishing eye deals 5 psychic damage to the nightmare as well.
At the start of Torinn's turn, he takes ongoing 5 psychic damage. Ramuh can also slide Rutger 2 squares.

Torinn and Sureiya hesitate, while the shaman springs into action, moving her spirit into position and calling back her other spirit. It uses its scythe to open the nightmare's defenses and distract it with a savage slice between the eyes, but the shaman feels her focus begin to dim as the maddening gaze of the creature begins to overpower her senses.

Ramuh also takes a moment, and Sid moves around the viscous puddle before firing a burning bolt--unfortunately, the fire seems to dissipate as soon as the crossbow bolt strikes the creature's fiery hide. Cursing, the gnome tosses a canister of the slippery concoction he's famous for under Sureiya, and the half-orc's thrashing causes him to go sliding across the floor, well out of the dangerous pool of water. The artificer stands resolute in the face of the monstrosity's overpowering will.

Torinn and Sureiya delay. Sureiya takes ongoing 5 psychic damage. Sureiya is grabbed by the constrictor tentacle.
Bernkastel takes ongoing 5 psychic damage. The corrupter tentacle misses her with cause fear.
Bernkastel moves. Bernkastel uses spirit of athas, then uses the attack power, hitting the nightmare for 13 damage. Punishing eye adds 5 psychic damage. The nightmare takes a -2 penalty to attacks and all defenses until the end of the shaman's next turn.
Bernkastel fails her saving throw and is dazed.
Ramuh takes ongoing 5 psychic damage and delays.
Sid takes ongoing 5 psychic damage. Sid moves. Sid uses burning weapons but misses the nightmare. http://orokos.com/roll/271340
Sid uses slick concoction, sliding Sureiya 5 squares and granting him a +4 bonus to Reflex until the end of Sid's next turn.
Sid successfully saves. http://orokos.com/roll/271341

Sureiya pulls himself to his feet, and brings his two blades together in a motion that is like a beast's jaws closing, slicing deep into the nightmare's flesh. It lets loose a horrific scream of agony as Sureiya draws his blades back and stabs them forward, spilling the abomination's green blood over the surface of the life once more. With a final thrust of his mainhand blade, Sureiya has savagely wounded the creature, and a barrage of bolts from Sid's floating sphere accompanies this swing, leaving the nightmare looking on the verge of defeat.

Sureiya sands from prone.
Sureiya's jaws of the wolf hits twice for 31 damage and 34 damage. Sureiya spends an action point! Sureiya uses twin strike, hitting for 10 damage and 16 damage. Sureiya uses ruffling sting, hitting for 18 damage. The nightmare also takes 25 psychic damage from punishing eye.
Sureiya successfully saves against slowed and the ongoing damage.

Torinn's tiger snarls as it bears the paladin forward, his blade stabbing directly between the fiend's eyes and causing it to wince in agony. It looks nearly dead when Ramuh calls down another bolt of lightning upon its head, and it retreats into the black pool underneath it, which melts away ominously.

Torinn uses his virtue of sacrifice to spend a surge. Myn regains 17 hit points.

Myn's best guess is that it is possible to activate the enchantment placed upon the rift now and get it moving, though doing so is a small task in and of itself. However, a small offering of Dragonsworn blood would provide you with a shortcut, just like in the Fell Cavern.

Immediately it reacts, vibrating briefly before beginning to bare you slowly but steadily upwards.

Sid poses the obvious question, "A-and the alternative? Letting him stay in power?"

Thalwynn shakes her head rather vigorously, "That's notta opshin. One way o' anoother, we gotta put an end ta his schemin'."

Kraag folds his arms and shrugs. "Not sure why that's a concern. Yer implyin' that they won't make a move at all unless someone else takes care of the Fell King for them. If it's someone worse than the Fell King, then what's the use in waiting around and letting them take out the Fell King themselves?" He thrusts his blade forward as if to illustrate the point, "At least if we eliminate him now, we could perhaps force them to act before they are ready."

"We've already rendered the keep nigh-defenseless," Thelkra points out. "And there's a prolonged military campaign outside with the objective of taking this keep. We could save a lot of lives if we take out the Fell King now."

"I'm not one to back down from a fight..." Kraag says in a neutral tone, looking over at miss Cragmaul. "But if ya want me to stay back and babysit this one, I can do that." Thalwynn looks like she doesn't appreciate the babysitting comment, but Thelkra chimes in before she manages to.

"Like I said, I'm coming along. I need to see this through," the half-orc female says emphatically.

"And where do you want me?" Sid asks. As he asks, it seems that the lift has ground to a halt--in front of a short, roughly twelve-foot wide bridge of sorts that takes you to a very large set of double doors. She hovers over her possessions protectively. There are no scrolls or other incriminating objects among her possessions. Thalwynn Cragmaul indicates that she has no possessions other than the armor and maul retrieved from the store room earlier.

Kraag Bloodspire reveals he has very little in his possession, besides his weapon and armor--a longbow and arrows, some ration bars, a pair of waterskins (one half-full), some basic climbing gear, a pickaxe, some flares, and a magic-looking stone. He describes it as a Sending Stone, which enables him to communicate with his superior, and he keeps it gripped tightly in his hand.

As Sid does a cursory glance over the items everyone has dispensed (an in-depth examination of each item would take an inordinate and impractical amount of time), and shakes his head, saying, "Nothing obviously unusual that I can see here! >> No. 76603 edit
It takes a bit of force for Sureiya to push open one of the heavy double doors, and the half-orc strains to do so. As it opens, it becomes apparent why; this door leads outside. A howling wind blows into the keep through the door as the ranger continues to push the door open, and once he finally gets it open enough for the party to egress, he looks upon the scene before him.

It would appear to be a wide bridge leading forward to a tower, the tower you saw standing separate from the keep, nestled in the steep, jagged mountains behind the baileys. The bridge is about forty feet across, and the bridge is raised four feet on either side, tipped with spikes that alternate between five feet high and ten feet high, spaced about two feet apart. The bridge extends forward about two hundred feet before forming into a circular area where the bridge is briefly wider, then continues for another two hundred feet and finally ending at a pair of heavy doors that seem to lead into the tower. Looking over the side, it looks like a sheer drop off the bridge, several hundred feet down. The bridge connects only to the outer walls of the keep and to the tower.

The tower on the other side is quite large, and you can only guess at how big it is, as it seems to be built directly into the mountainside and inaccessible in every way, except from the bridge--there are no windows that you can see. There's no doubt in Sureiya's mind that the Fell King awaits in the tower ahead. Sid follows nervously behind Sureiya, and then Thelkra, Thalwynn Cragmaul, and Kraag follow behind Sid.

Myn can sense the leylines are present in the lift's chamber extend unseen through the ground and into the tower ahead, converging on a single point. The incredible gale that whips around the tower and the bridge is probably intended to confound any who would attempt to fly to this destination and circumvent navigating the keep, as the bridge offers protection to those exiting from the lift's chamber. There is clearly some sort of powerful latent magic in the bridge itself, and Myn feels the same lingering tendrils of magic that bound the dragon spirits all around, as if this is all connected in some way, part of a pact made between dragon and mortal, with the convergence of the leylines providing the necessary power.

In other words, it's unlikely the Fell King himself possessed enough power to do this, but using the energies of the leyline and the expertise of his bound spirits, he has essentially created a safety bubble for his lair, with only a single point of entry.

When the group enters the circular area that marks the bridge's halfway point, they find themselves surrounded by the four dragon spirits from the keep, which are hovering, two on either side of the bridge.

"Well done. Well done indeed!" the silver dragon-spirit says.

"You've certainly proven yourselves many times over now," the adamantine dragon-spirit confirms.

"And so, we would bequeath unto you the last of our power, so that you may be better prepared to confront the Fell King," the mithral dragon-spirit explains.

And the gold dragon-spirit adds, "The Fell King no longer has a use for us. Should he call us again later, perhaps we shall answer he call, but we believe this is the best course of action."

Without waiting for confirmation, the dragon spirits vanish, and each of you feels completely rejuvenated--as if the past hour or so of exploration and combat did not occur. The party gains the benefit of an extended rest, and action points are reset to 1 each. In addition, you notice two things--even Thalwynn, Thelkra, and Kraag appear to be fully restored and back in action, which miss Cragmaul seems startled by at first, but then she clenches her first in determination. He pauses for a moment, then adds, "Goin' straight for the keep kept ya out of tha loop, ya'know. Not that I blame ya for seizin' the opportunity."

He pauses for a moment, then looks at his sending stone again, holding it up to his head. Thelkra decides to add, "If it helps, I wasn't aware of it either. I do know we don't have much down there that flies, so launchin' an aerial assault's a bad idea, especially since we know the Fell King's got gargoyles guardin' the keep."

A few moments pass, and Myn's imp returns. (Only Myn can understand its speech.) "Yo, boss. Doesn't look like a door down there so much as a stone gate. Really big and heavy-lookin'. There's a magic symbol on it, looks like that what was on the lift. One of them Dragonsworn deals."

Duke Prestor has been directing reconnaissance and wanted more intelligence before committing to a push towards the keep itself."

Elayne pauses here, then nervously glances back towards the keep, and Halvangh swings his head in that direction as well. Slowly, she turns back and faces the group, "At least, that was the case up until now. We noticed a flight of gargoyles incoming from the keep. At first we thought it was signaling an attack, but they instead went to rendezvous with the Fell King's forces. When Halvangh and I flew in, we saw them at their base camp."

"It looked like they were picking up some shadar-kai and getting ready to head out," Halvangh adds. "It wouldn't make sense to attack our army with such a small force, so they must be going somewhere else... somewhere they need to reach by air. To put it simply, we're concerned they might be on their way here."

"On the other hand, if they're thinning their forces, the duke might order the assault to begin..." Elayne suggests, her voice trailing off. She is suddenly interrupted by Thalwynn Cragmaul stepping forward.

"A'rite, so 'ere's tha deal," the dwarf female suggests, whirling to face Thelkra. "Ye and tha 'venturers get in tha tower and deal wit' tha Fell King. Me, tha orc, Halvangh, and Elayne'll stay out 'ere and watch yer backs."
