With matters settled, the party decides to head for the large hatch that leads into the great metal tower. Sid and tribunus Bluehand take the lead, working together to manipulate the machinery around the hatch, and after a moment, it hisses open with a short blast of steam. Before you is a circular, faintly-shimmering field of glowing blue-white energy.

"The teleportation field is active. Let's move!" Sid immediately enters the portal-like surface, followed by Bluehand and the rest of the party.

Your senses are briefly drowned out as you pass through the shimmering barrier, much like the other portals you have entered throughout your adventuring career. When you regain them, you are in what appears to be a twenty-foot square room that seems comprised entirely of a metallic frame set against a vertical shaft. There appears to be a small panel with several knobs and dials lining it at the head of the frame, and a set of what appears to be retractable half-doors before you.

"Lifty-room will take us into the Fist," Bluehand offers helpfully.

It is at this point that you realize something strange--Samel is missing! Though several of you did see him step through the portal, he is not here on the other side, though the rest of you are!

"Wh-what? Where is Samel?!" Sid manages to stammer.

"Psh--tohk..." wheezes the tribunus, sounding troubled. "Uplander must be victim of screwy-fault, sending him far-place in Gordias..." Looking up, then over its shoulder, then all around, the goblin adds, "Sssshhtock! Uplander could be any or all-place within!"

"If that's the case, then our only option would be to access the Knot and try to find him using the internal security! Hopefully before he runs into trouble on his own!" Sid announces firmly. "We can try a Sending too, perhaps, if you think it prudent?"

In response to Sureiya's query, the goblin strides forward and presses a few buttons on the panel. The frame you are all standing in shudders, and begins to ascend. After a short while, it shudders to a stop, and before you lies a passage.

The frame opens, so you can exit the front of it, facing north. There is a short, narrow passage in front of you that opens into a larger room. From this larger room you hear the hiss of rushing steam, and every now and then jets of stream cover the area at odd, yet seemingly not random, intervals. You can see that this room leads to another narrow corridor, which goes for quite a bit before the view is cut off by a large pipe.

OOC: See the roll20 map for a layout. You can move to the edge of the wider room in front of you, but passing through that room is not possible at this time. You may want to do Perception checks to more thoroughly check out the room, once you have moved further into the passage.

Sureiya gets a good look at the room ahead of him. It would appear to be a square room with a low ceiling (only about eight feet high), with pipes jutting out of the walls. These pipes appear to have been dislodged from their original configuration, and are spewing jets of steam across the room at odd intervals. However, Sureiya's keen perceptive abilities do see a pattern that could be exploited to navigate the room without being blasted by steam, though one would need to be light on their toes to do so.

OOC: Navigating the room without danger requires a hard DC Acrobatics check. Thanks to Sureiya's high Perception check, he gets a +2 bonus to this check. If one person successfully navigates the room, the DC is lowered to a moderate DC for everyone who observes them doing so, and successfully studying the pattern of steam blasts by passing a moderate DC Perception check gets the same +2 bonus. Failing the Acrobatics check will subject you to fire damage from steam blasts as you pass through. Alternative modes of movement may also lessen your risk in various ways.

Seeing no further responses besides the fake encouragement by the man who sleeps with the devil, the ranger muster up all of his courage and decides to momentarily take off his leather armor.

"Alright, all of you better pay attention, I won't try this more than once" he says.

Once he stores the spyglass and his armor, he takes a strange-looking crystal from his bag. Now he feels light as a feather.
Sureiya looks again into Myn's direction and gives him a"thank you" nod as response, and strides ahead once he sees an opening.

Torinn catches sight of the large mechanical enemy up ahead. The creature looks as if it's about ready to attack, but Torinn is quick on the draw today. Rutger flies Torinn adjacent, where Torinn places his divine challenge on the foe. Then, taking a defensive stance, he lashes out with his sword and attacks the automaton,
landing a decent hit against the creature and bolstering his own defenses significantly against its attacks. He also blocks off the passageway, so that it is (probably) unable to harm his allies.

Torinn quickly rides his steed close to the metal golem, and his magical weapon has no trouble smashing a small dent in the automaton's shoulder. The machine makes a whirring sound as it retaliates swiftly, and blows rain upon Torinn despite his hefty defensive boost, leaving him badly wounded.

As Torinn entered the room, he noticed that it was largely an empty, open area, lined with metal pipes jutting out of the walls. Though the pipes are too small for anyone other than Sid to crawl through, many are open and facing the room, though none seem to be emitting deadly steam or anything dangerous. Behind the metal golem is a narrow tunnel lined at the bottom with what appear to be two metallic rails, which lead down a winding path out of Torinn's sight. Torinn and Rutger could squeeze into the tunnel behind their foe if they wished, though there's no telling where it leads. To the right of the rails is what appears to be a control panel of sorts.

Torinn moves and uses divine challenge, marking Faust.
Torinn uses brash strike, hitting for 16 damage and gaining a +5 bonus to all defenses until the start of his next turn.
At the end of Torinn's turn, Faust uses legendary action, attacking with its metal quarterstaff and missing.

Faust uses double attack, swinging its metal quarterstaff twice. It misses once and crits once for 24 damage.

However, Torinn decisively intervenes with a counter-attack that slices into the robot's exposed joint before a bash from his shield drives it back. This throws one of the machine's swings wild, and it fails to land what would've been a critical blow. It has to stumble back forward before continuing its assault, and as a result the dragonborn does not suffer nearly as much pain.

Torinn uses disciplined counter on the first miss of the first double attack, which hits for 11 damage and slides Faust out of range for its second attack. It uses its move action to close the gap and continues its assault. Faust also grants combat advantage until the end of Torinn's next turn.

The shaman approach quickly and calls forth her spirits, with the elemental spirit providing a defensive aura for her allies. She then shores up her allies' attack by hurling her storm-infused dagger, which just manages to strike Faust in whatever passes for the golem's face.

Another strike on the paladin manages to catch Torinn off-guard, and it's clear the dragonborn is fading underneath the machine's surprisingly relentless onslaught. He will need succor, and soon.

The warlock teleports forward, leaving the goblin idling in the corner, and places his sinister curse upon the automaton before infusion the nearby half-orc with fiery wrath.

Sid quickly acknowledges the shaman's plan with a nod, and quickly uncorks his slippery concoction, sliding an infusion onto the ground beneath Torinn. The canister hardens Torinn's resolve in the face of the metal monstrosity, and the gnome then triggers his device, sending his allies sliding into more advantageous positions.

Myn knows what Sureiya knows about this automaton. In addition, Bernkastel has the following information about its powers: it has the action recovery trait, which removes dazing or stunning effects at the end of each of Faust's turns. It can also spend two of its legendary action uses to end any dominating or stunning effect preventing it from taking free actions. It also has the pressurized attacks traits, which grants it 1 charge of increasing pressure at the start of each of its turns after it rolls initiative, and these stacks remain until the end of the encounter. Each stack gives Faust a stacking +2 bonus to attack rolls and +5 bonus to damage rolls. Its metal quarterstaff is a hard-hitting melee basic attack with a reach of 2 that requires a standard action. Also as a standard action, it can use double attack to attack twice with its quarterstaff. Its blitztrahl attack is also a standard action, area burst 1 within 20 power that doesn't provoke opportunity attacks for using an area power, and is vs. Reflex. It deals moderate lightning damage to creatures in the burst. Finally, its last standard action power is called pressure strike, which it can only use when bloodied. Once it uses pressure spike, it can't take any more standard actions for the rest of the turn, even if it spends an action point. Pressure strike sets increasing pressure stacks to 10, the maximum value. Its legendary actions are free actions that trigger at the end of another creature's turn, allowing it to use its metal quarterstaff or, if no enemies are adjacent to it, blitzstrahl as a free action. It can only use its legendary actions three times per round. Faust has a move speed of 6 and darkvision.
Myn teleports into position with ethereal stride and curses Faust.
Myn uses hellsworn blessing, causing Sureiya to assume hellsworn form until the end of the encounter or until Myn dismisses the effect as a minor action. Hellsworn form grants Sureiya a +2 power bonus to attack rolls, darkvision, and causes his melee attacks to deal 2d8 extra fire damage.
Sid moves. Sid uses resistive formula on Torinn, granting him a +1 power bonus to AC.
Sid uses slick concoction, sliding Sureiya, Myn's owlbear, Myn, and Benrkastel around and giving them a +4 bonus to Reflex until the end of his next turn.

Once the ranger's initial nervouness is gone, he takes Nightfall from his holding bag and applies one of the frozen whetstones in an instant. However, sooner than later, Sureiya's body composition suffer an extreme change from the Warlock's demonic blessing. He grows a few inches taller than before and the spooky looking bats flying around him certainly make an impression.

His face looks all pale now and his usual simple clothing morphed into a more formal attire; a charcoal colored suit and pants, a wide red tie with a cross-shaped end, and classy looking shoes. The ranger's appareance is not the only thing that has changed, as Nightfall is blended in flames, even if some cold energy paradoxically seems to remains around.

He throws the construct a challenging smirk and enthusiastically charges ahead, he splits Nightfall into two medium-sized swords and fiercely attacks once with each blade. Losing no time, the ranger teleports behind the robotic guardian.
"Nothing personal, Roomba-kid."

Free action: Take Nightfall (broadsword) from magic bag.
Minor action, take and use cold whetstone on Nightfall, adds +2 cold damage giving his attacks fire/cold keywords.
Minor action, Hunter's Quarry on Faust.
Free action: Split Nightfall into two blades.
Standard Action: Attacks on the Run! (25, 58 damage) (40, 49 damage) Then 3 more damage from Hunter's Quarry.
Free action: Teleport into flanking position with Torinn, using Nightfall's power.

Using his new hellish form to his advantage, the half-orc quickly applies a whetstone to his legendary blade and splits it in two, then dashes into the fray, slashing twice mightily with the twin blades he is known for. As he connects, he vanishes from sight and appears in a flanking position with Torinn. The first strike did not land as solidly as the ranger perhaps would've liked, but it still inflicted some damage upon the automaton, who is finally beginning to reel a bit from the continued adventurer aggression.

Sureiya does some stuff with Nightfall and a whetstone.
Sureiya sets his quarry and uses attacks on the run, missing once for 29 fire and cold damage and hitting once for 49 fire and cold damage, plus 3 extra damage from quarry.

In spite of the beating he's received, Torinn stands firm against the mechanical beast and- wait, did Sureiya just become a demon?

Questions for later. He glares at Faust intimidatingly, putting fear into the fearless android automaton, and belittles it, making the machine feel shame on top of everything else. To it, Torinn is effectively invisible, for it cannot bear to face him after such humiliation.

Use Glowering Threat: Faust takes a -5 penalty to attack rolls against allies
Use Mocking Smite with Brash Strike (34, 24 psychic damage) and become invisible to Faust as well as +5 to defenses

At the instant the machination turns around and focuses on the Paladin and the rest of the party, Sureiya swings again one of the elementally infused Nightfall blades. This time, some of the shadow bats flying around attack Faust as well, distracting it as it throws a lighting blast.

Torinn's surgical strike and deliberate provocations seem to stir something in the android to fixate heavily upon the dragonborn, but then Torinn takes it a step further with a potent psychic smite that scrambles what passes for Faust's brain.

Unable to detect the paladin for a direct attack, Faust reaches behind its back as if to pull out a javelin, and makes a throwing motion. Though no javelin is produced, it seems to hurl a bolt of lightning that strikes the ground near the pegasus and explodes violently! Sureiya takes this opportunity, however, to launch a distracting attack that throws off the construct's aim, and only Rutger ends up caught in the blast, with the other nearby creatures evading.

Torinn uses glowering threat, causing Faust to take a -5 penalty to attack rolls against creatures other than Torinn until the end of his next turn.
Torinn uses brash strike with mocking smite, hitting Faust for 24 points of psychic damage. Torinn is also invisible to Faust until the end of his next turn.
Faust's increasing pressure stacks increase to 2.
Faust uses blitztrahl, hitting Torinn and Rutger for 28 lightning damage, and missing the owlbear and Bernkastel. However, Sureiya hits with disruptive strike for 32 fire and cold damage, which makes the attack miss Torinn and he takes no damage. Rutger reduces the damage taken to 18.

"Mr. N, what did you do to him?" The shaman calls back at the warlock, alarmed by the ranger's transformation.

Alarm or not, there's a robot to be fought. The smaller spirit does its job as the shaman climbs onto Rutger, first infusing Torinn, and if opportunity allows, Rutger as well.

[Free action]: Stow Goblin Totem Dagger.
[Free action]: Draw Chieftain's Short Spear.
[Move action]: Mount Rutger. Spirit Companion 3sq north, 1sq west, elevation 1.
[Standard action]: Sly Fox Spirit. Target Torinn first, then if he hits, Rutger can attack too.
- Chieftain's Weapon: My attack grants have a +1 item bonus to attack.
- Infernal Pincer: When you and an ally are both flanking an enemy, you and that ally gain a bonus to melee damage rolls against that enemy equal to [+5]. (Doesn't say the ally and I have to be flanking together!)
[Minor action]: Call Forth the Spirit World. (Fear effect, so it doesn't work on the robot). Close burst spirit 3.
- Effect: The burst becomes a zone until the end of your next turn or until your spirit companion is destroyed. The zone moves with the spirit companion, remaining centered on its space. Enemies within the zone take a -2 penalty to attack rolls. Any bloodied ally that starts its turn within the zone regains 5 hit points. (+4 to healing from Weapon of Healing and Healer's Brooch, for a total of 9.)

The shaman quickly climbs on Rutger's back, overcoming her reluctance from the earlier jaunt through the steam vents. She then maneuvers her spirit to empower both Torinn and his mount, which strike out at the automaton, knocking it somewhat off-balance. However, when it turns to swipe at the ranger who backstabbed it, Torinn unleashes a true flurry of punishment, first striking deftly twice with his blade and then searing the robot with radiant energy. Faust is clearly now badly damaged, and Sid adds insult to the injury by firing a lightning-infused crossbow bolt directly into the center of its chest. The energy, though not terribly damaging for Faust, disrupts it enough to weaken the strike from its quarterstaff against Sureiya.

Bernkastel moves and moves her companions. Bernkastel uses sly fox spirit, allowing Torinn to attack, hitting for 28 damage with a melee basic attack. Rutger then hits with kick for 25 damage.
Bernkastel uses call forth the spirit world. Lasts until the end of Bernkastel's next turn.
At the end of Bernkastel's turn, Faust attacks Sureiya with its metal quarterstaff. This triggers Torinn's divine challenge, combat challenge, and in the defense of order, which deal 14 radiant damage, and hit for 31 damage and crit for 42 damage.
Sid uses shocking feedback, hitting for 20 lightning damage (reduced to 10) and granting Sureiya resist 5 all against the triggering attack, which hits for 22 damage (reduced to 17).

Sid joins in, firing a bolt from his crossbow that infuses Myn as it passes by, allowing the warlock to throw forth an eldritch blast without even thinking about it. Meanwhile, Faust tries twice fruitlessly to bash the invisible paladin, but is only succeeding in looking more and more beat up. It seems to be stumbling now, barely functional.

Sureiya, or whoever is in place of the ranger finds himself rather disappointed to see their adversary is so weak. Or perhaps the party is too strong? In any case, it's not fun anymore.

To finish things up, he starts making a quick swing, cutting deep inside the armor of the robot.
Then he disappears and appears back a few feets to the right, and makes a second attack, further weakening the construct.
Finally, showing more enthusiasm than required, he teleports once again on top Faust. This time stabbing through the core of the machinery, breaking it appart.

...Once he is done, he merges back the swords and the larger broadsword falls from his hands. He takes a good laugh and loudly claps his hands. The bats around him fly faster, as if celebrating.

"Hahahahaha. Wasn't that interesting? I just hoped our friend wasn't so poorly constructed. I don't visit the mortal world very often" he explains.

"There is no need to be alarmed, your friend is unharmed. The time I am allowed to stay in your plane is quite brief, and still, it is never the same experience."

Sureiya examines the control panel, but its workings are completely alien to the half-orc. The tinker gnome walks up beside him, and noticing Sureiya bending down to operate a panel clearly designed for goblins and gnomes, takes over.

After a moment's examination, Sid declares, "Ah, this operates transportation further into Gordias via those rails." He nodes to the twin rails that are attached firmly into the platform you currently stand upon, and lead into a windy tunnel. "We'll need to use these to proceed. Hmmm." Pressing some buttons and adjusting some knobs, he then confirms, "Seems it leads to a hangar. From there we can access a service elevator that will take us to the next level up, closer to the knot."

"Uplanders should take pause-break before continuing," Bluehand suggests. "Guardians of Gordias will not relent easily."

It is about this time that Sureiya receives a Sending--Samel's voice in his head. It informs the half-orc that he seems to be in some sort of library. Perhaps sounding a bit eager to hoard the knowledge contained therein, he says he'll stay put until the others locate him, for risk of getting further lost, as he appears to not be in immediate danger.

"Good, that should bring you closer to your destination","Slayer" responds with a smile to Sid's show off of nerdery. Then he turns to the paladin, feeling curious about his hostility.

"Indeed. My business here is now over. But regardless of my own volition, the pact forces me to keep you company for a few minutes. Nothing more, nothing less", he explains with a voice full of calm and serenity.
Then, the bats around the nightwalker blend together and morph into a fancy looking chair, where the ranger appears pleased to rest.
A papyrus and a quill appear from the ranger's bag, and the summoned entity turns his entire focus into them, writing something.

Perhaps around two minutes later, the vampire looks troubled, inspiration is not here just yet.

"I'll be in your debt... It's been forever since the last time I tried to write. Might our next meeting be more fruitful" he says with a bow, before vanishing into a storm of bats. Leaving Sureiya in his place, rather confused about the whole experience.

Once the vampire disappears, the papyrus stays, falling into the floor. If one looks into it, the following poem can be read on it:

Be wary of your friends
Trust who dares fighting along
Protect who needs love.

Assuming Sid spends a surge to recover his used infusion, that triggers the Battle Standard of Healing. So the Healing Spirit's secondary target should be Rutger, not Sureiya.

Final HP totals are Torinn 88/89, Sureiya 81/86, and everyone else full. Torinn,

"Right..."

The shaman turns to the rail, staring into the opening. The smaller spirit wanders into it, exploring for some distance, but as Sid has already gone in, there isn't much time to check.

Eventually, the shaman uses a string to tie a ponytail, and holds on to her hair as she steps onto the rails.

"That demon actually wasn't too evil, but god how obnoxious."

Sureiya takes the papyrus left in the room, takes a sigh and keeps it inside his bag, then he turns to Myn.

"That spell made me hit like hell, literally. Just tell me next time you plan to aid me, right?", he says, still feeling somewhat dazzled from the experience.

Then he follows the gnome and the human, and gets railed into somewhere else.

The party rides the rails--it would seem that, somehow, once you hop on them, match latches your feet firmly to the raid so you will not fall, despite sliding along it at a high speed through a metallic tunnel. After a short ride, you emerge into an open area--about thirty feet above the ground. You shoot out into the room, gliding safely to the floor in what seems to be a sort of feather-fall effect. The ceiling here is about fifty feet high, and the room has rectangular dimensions. On the other end of the room appears to be a large, circular hatch that resembles perhaps a vault of sorts.

You have barely had time to gather yourselves when the sirens begin to sound.

Suddenly, the hatch in front of you lurches open, and out pops a very large mechanical monstrosity of some sort. It would appear to be a miniature walking fortress of some sort. It halts a short distance in front of you, and as you ready your weapons and Sid reinforces Torinn against attack, four spheres are deployed from hatches on the side of the automaton's body, which roll out and deploy tiny legs and antenna on the top of their heads. It would seem that this walking fortress brought some reinforcements, and is clearly hostile in response to the wailing alarm!

Knowledge check results: Myn knows the oppressor is a level 12 elite skirmisher. Its traits include sniper scope, which means it doesn't provoke opportunity attacks when it makes ranged or area attacks, as well as singularity core, which renders it immune to the core collapse power of the alarums. It also has the heavy treads trait, which allows it to make a saving throw whenever it falls prone, and is not knocked prone on a success. Its standard actions include autocannon, a ranged basic attack that can target one, two, or three creatures, making three attacks against AC that it distributes between these targets, each dealing moderate damage. It can also use photon spazer, a close blast attack that affects a line that is 3 squares wide and 10 squares long. The attack is against Reflex, and deals heavy radiant damage on a hit, or half damage on a miss. Photon spazer recharges on a d6 roll of 5/6.

As a move action it can use scramjets. This attacks in a close burst 2, affecting creatures in the burst, targeting their fortitude. On a hit, it deals moderate fire damage and pushes the target up to 2 squares. After making this attack, it flies up to 12 squares, hovering, without provoking opportunity attacks. At the end of this movement it can descend up to 6 squares without taking falling damage, and can land in spaces occupied by enemies. Enemies that share its space upon landing are attacked with an attack versus Reflex, on a hit they take heavy damage and are knocked prone. They cannot stand from prone until escape (escape DC 20), and each prone creature takes ongoing 20 damage while prone. On a miss the creature can move out of the oppressor's space as a free action, but if it doesn't or can't do so it is instead hit. This is an encounter power. When it uses scramjets, it ends any immobilizing, slowing, or restraining effect and is immune to such effects for that turn.

As a triggered action, when the oppressor fires its autocannons, it can choose one creature it targets and launch a hydrothermal missile at that target. This is an attack that is an area burst 1 centered on the chosen target, and explodes in an attack vs AC which deals some fire damage on a hit, and half damage on a miss.

Finally, as a free action that can be used while the oppressor is flying due to scramjets, the oppressor can drop a Medium bomb in an occupied space within 20 squares using bomb drop. The bomb is dropped at ground level and has 2 fuse counters. At the start of each of the oppressor's turns, it loses 1 fuse counter. When it has 0 fuse counters remaining, it immediately explodes, attacking everything within 20 squares for massive fire damage (attack vs Reflex, half damage on a miss). The bomb can be moved and explodes even if the oppressor is destroyed. This is also an encounter power.

"Bernkastel" knows the alarums are level 11 artillery. They have only about half as many hit points as a normal monster of their type and level, but they are still potent offensively. They have the sniper scope and singularity core traits of the oppressor. Its shrink ray is a standard action basic ranged attack versus Fortitude, and on a hit the target takes force damage and is weakened (save ends. If it fails a saving throw, it is shrunken until it saves. While shrunken, the creature's speed decreases by 2, its size category decreases by 1, it becomes vulnerable 10 to all damage, and it grants combat advantage. It also can use lock on as a standard action, when allows it to moves it speed towards a target. It then uses shrink ray against that target with combat advantage.

When the alarum is destroyed its core collapse leaves behind a zone in a close burst 1 centered on the alarum. Any creature or object that enters the zone or ends its turn in the zone is shrunken (save ends), as above. If the bombs dropped by the oppressor are shrunken, their burst radius and damage decrease to almost nothing. The zone lasts until the end of the encounter.

Both of these creatures have resist 10 fire, darkvision, and are immune to fear, poison, and disease. The alarum has a speed of 5 and the oppressor has a speed of 8. They have very simple intelligence and will not attempt complicated battle plans.

Immediately two of the smaller constructs spring into action, firing beams of forge energy at Sureiya and Rutger. Rutger manages to wholly resist the beam, though Sureiya is not so lucky, and he feels his strength sapped away by the shrink ray. The automatons clatter towards their targets, seemingly unwilling to take advantage of their long range.

Myn is first to react.

Sureiya uses begin the hunt and sets his quarry. Alarum 1 moves and hits Sureiya with shrink ray for 18 fore damage and Sureiya is weakened (save ends). Alarum 3 moves and misses Rutger with shrink ray.

"That's a quick alert system. Mr. Sureiya, can you recover?" The shaman calls out while waving her spear around.

The taller spirit appears with a gust of wind and directs lesser air spirits to move the party members around, before getting into position itself. The smaller spirit focuses on enabling Sureiya to attack... for some unknown reason, since Sureiya can't hit as hard at the moment.

"Hmpt, the Fell king had it easy with these swords, didn't he?" After getting in position with the aid of the shaman's spirits and teleporting behind the huge robot guardian. The magical pendant on the half-orc's neck begins to glows and a purple colored mist surrounds the ranger for a second, cleaning off the harm done by the Alarum.

Then, he decides to put in test his training at the temple. Holding tight a curved shaped magic coin inside his left hand and focusing on his spiritual side, Sureiya whispers,
"Tymora, grant me your holy favor!" , which forces the coin to react, shinning even through the ranger's hand. Now bathed in his deity's blessing and free of the robot affliction, he spins and slashes the robot circuitery without any mercy.

Thanks to the shaman getting him into position, Torinn quickly goes to work by drawing all enemies in range to him. Then smacking them when they fall for his goading. The big one, in particular, feels the burn of his holy symbol restricting its actions to almost nothing. Finally, to soften up the other targets, Torinn breathes a cone of lightning breath at the robots, lightly damaging them.

With some strategic planning, the shaman quickly re-positions the battlefield while Myn waits for a chance. With aid from her spirit, Torinn and Sureiya rain blows upon the massive machine, taking it apart piece by piece until Torinn also confuses the programming of the alarums long enough to draw them close and deliver a whirling blow that hits just about everything nearby. Myn rains destruction upon the grouped-up machines, and though the oppressor unleashes a veritable barrage of blasts from its cannons upon the dragonborn, his magical armor and shield keep him safe. Sid then adds a whirling barrier to Torinn that pulses violently, putting one of the machines down. The alarums begin to fire their shrink rays once more, and the one that exploded leaves behind a dangerous-looking singularity.

Myn delays.
Bernkastel uses reorient the axis, adjusting positioning of herself and her allies.
Bernkastel uses spirit of athas, conjuring her elemental spirit.
Bernkastel uses sly fox spirit, granting Sureiya a melee basic attack that hits the oppressor for 14 damage (reduced from 29), and he teleports behind the oppressor. Torinn hits the oppressor for 25 damage.
Sureiya uses periapt of cascading health to remove weakness, then uses oath of emnity against the oppressor. Sureiya uses twin strike, hitting once for 31 damage (after quarry is added).
Sureiya spends an action point! Sureiya hits twice with twin strike, for 33 damage and 31 damage. Sureiya uses sohei flurry, hitting for 36 damage. All hits are on the oppressor.
Torinn uses come and get it, hitting the oppressor and 3 alarums, pulling them adjacent and dealing 8 damage to them. Torinn uses symbol of the champion's code on the oppressor. Torinn uses dragon breath, hitting alarum 1 and 2 for [yellow]7 lightning damge[/yellow. All of the alarums except 4 and the oppressor are marked by Torinn.
Myn teleports. Myn places his curse on alarum 1 and 2. Myn uses stellar debris, hitting alarum 1 and the oppressor but missing alarum 2. The oppressor takes 20 damage, and alarum 1 takes 24 damage, the damage type is radiant and fire. The oppressor and alarum 1 treat all creatures as having concealment until the end of Myn's next turn.
The oppressor spends an action point and attacks Torinn six times with its autocannons, hitting twice for 8 damage each time (reduced to 3 damage per hit).
Alarum 2 misses Torinn. Alarum 4 hits the owlbear for 16 force damage (reduced from 21), and the owlbear is weakened (save ends).
Sid moves and uses gale-force infusion, granting Torinn +7 AC until the end of Sid's next turn. It hits alarums 1, 3, and 4 for 17 damage (+2 for 4), and misses alarum 2 and the oppressor.
Alarum 1 is destroyed, creating its core collapse zone. Creatures that enter the zone or end their turns within are shrunken (save ends).
Alarum 3 uses lock on and attacks Torinn with shrink ray, but misses.

With the shaman's spirit infusion, Myn is able to destroy another of the alarums. The singularity that results seems to strongly tug at the nearby mounted combatants, and "Bernkastel" falls to the floor to avoid being sucked in and shrunken.

With a pair of quick strikes from Sureiya's artifact blades, the oppressor collapses facedown on the ground. There is a pause as Sureiya makes ready to do something, but there is a sudden flash of light that envelops the oppressor. Then, a feminine voice fills the chamber:

Input accepted. Seven... two three, two three... commencing Gordias reactivation...

Suddenly, the enormous machine begins to rise back to its feet... looking battered, but still very much in the fight. Then, suddenly another machine slowly descends behind you, seemingly out of nowhere, and deploys an additional four alarum drones. Sid, for his part, looks slightly dumbstruck.

"E-eh? Was that--?" the gnome manages to stammer out before turning to face a more immediate threat.

Bernkastel drops prone. Bernkastel uses spirit infusion, and Myn's eldritch blast hits and destroys the alarum 2.
Sureiya hits the oppressor for 19 damage and 24 damage. This destroys the oppressor.
As a special lair action, the oppressor is restored, with hit points equal to its bloodied value. The oppressor v0.5 joins the fight, and deploys four additional alarums.

Torinn's as shocked as everyone else that there's suddenly another oppressor. He has to get over it quickly, though, as he notes that Sid is wide open to attack. He repositions himself over the smaller mechanical creatures, and challenges the new giant before making a law-enforcing attack.

It misses, until an intervention by the shaman's spirits guides his strike towards his foe. The power of his devotion greatly weakens and disrupts his enemy, scrambling its system. Torinn takes an aggressive stance, ready to lash out at all of his enemies in range.

Sureiya isn't too stunned by the reactivation of the oppressor to stop attacking, and delivers another pair of savage strikes from his artifact blades. Torinn, on the other hand, leaves this fight to Sureiya, giving the oppressor a parting shot before engaging with the older model that suddenly appeared behind the party. Infusing his blade with divine power, the dragonborn strikes with radiant power that scrambles the oppressor's circuits and greatly weakens its power. He then adapts a slashing stance to strike at anything nearby.

Myn continues to teleport around the battlefield, enshrouded in mist, and overloads one of the smaller automatons with a psychic surge, which enables his corrupting rod to spread his curse around. He then delivers a new attack that greatly damages anything still affected by his curse, which damages nearly every one of his foes. However, it's at this point that the owlbear shrinks to a much smaller size, becoming quite vulnerable. When the oppressor attempts to use its rocket jets, the shaman is quick to spot the opportunity that Sureiya takes to land a final slash that shatters the machine's casing and sends its robotic innards spilling across the ground. This time, it does not get back up.

The alarums fire their shrink rays, but don't manage to land any hits here. Sid launches a bolt into the older oppressor that spurs Myn on to blast it once more, and removes the weakness from Myn's owlbear with a healing canister. When the second oppressor tries to fire its own rocket jets, Sureiya, Sid, and Torinn all strike out, ending its threat prematurely. This machine never even got a chance to attack.

The other alarums continue to follow their rigid programming, despite the destruction of the oppressors, and Rutger is weakened by a shrink ray.

Sureiya resumes his attack on the oppressor, hitting with ruffling sting and off-hand strike for 27 damage and 30 damage.
Torinn hits the oppressor with flyby attack for 24 damage. Torinn uses divine challenge on the oppressor v0.5, and then spends an action point, missing it with certain justice. Bernkastel grants a reroll for this attack via felling action, allowing certain justice to hit for 13 damage. It is weakened and dazed until it is no longer marked by Torinn.
Myn uses life siphon. Myn teleports with ethereal stride. Myn curses alarums 5 and 6.
Myn uses shared agony, hitting the alarum 3 for 29 psychic damage, destroying it. It creates the core collapse zone.
Myn spends an action point! Myn uses cursebite, hitting the oppressor for 37 damage, alarum 4 for 21 damage, and alarums 5, 6, 7, and the oppressor v0.5 for 19 damage.
Myn's owlbear fails its saving throw against being weakened and shrinks.
The oppressor uses scramjets, which would hit Sureiya and owlbear, but the shaman interrupts with powerful warning. Sureiya's melee basic attack hits for 28 damage, destroying the oppressor again.
Alarum 4 misses Bernkastel with shrink ray. Alarum 6 misses Myn with shrink ray. Alarum 8 misses Rutger with shrink ray. They all use lock on first.
Sid uses spell tracer, hitting for 18 damage. Myn's eldritch blast hits for 31 damage, bloodying it.
Sid uses swift mender on Myn's owlbear, and it succeeds on the save.
The oppressor uses scramjet, hitting Torinn, Rutger, Sureiya, Alarum 5, and Alarum 7. Sureiya interrupts with disruptive strike, causing it to miss Torinn and dealing 24 damage.
Rutger, Sureiya, Alarum 5 and Alarum 7 take 2 fire damage and are pushed, though Torinn's belt negates the 1-square push on Rutger. Rutger takes no damage. Torinn takes 1 fire damage.
Torinn's disciplined counter hits the oppressor v0.5 for 16 damage, destroying it.
Alarum 5 uses lock on on Myn, and attacks with shrink ray, missing.
Alarum 7 uses lock on on Rutger, and attacks with shrink ray, hitting for 22 damage, reduced to 17. Alarum 7 takes 9 damage from rain of steel, which bloodies it.

The shaman begins to direct the battle's cleanup by infusing the warlock with her resummoned companion. Myn destroys the hapless alarum with a quick, brutal eldritch blast.

Bernkastel stands from prone. Bernkastel moves the spirit of athas and uses sudden call to call back her spirit companion.
Bernkastel uses spirit infusion, and Myn's eldritch blast hits alarum 6, destroying it.

Torinn attempts to give his mount succor from the strange affliction, but it fails to take. Fearing the worst, the paladin moves out of the air and into a position to smite the wounded alarum. The automaton breaks, and the other is sanctioned with the promise of more damage if it attacks anyone else, but that's all he can do before Rutger succumbs to the strange effects of the ray.

Sureiya and Torinn begin the work of destroying the last few alarum bots, though Rutger shrinks in the process, succumbing to the lingering effects of the shrink ray and shrinking to a size that forces Torinn off the pegasus' back. Myn is unable to capitalize on the ongoing victory, however, and leaves it to Sid to finish off one of the last remaining alarums. The single alarum still standing endures a quick slash from Torinn's weapon before turning its shrink ray on the paladin, hitting and greatly diminishing the dragonborn's strength.

Sureiya uses throw and stab, destroying 4 and damaging 7.
Torinn uses divine mettle but Rutger fails its save. Torinn uses valorous smite, destroying 7 and sanctioning 8. Rutger fails its end of turn save and shrinks, dismounting Torinn.
Myn misses with eldritch blast and uses knack for success.
Alarum takes 7 damage from Torinn's rain of steel.
Alarum 8 hits Torinn with shrink ray for 15 force damage, and Torinn is weakened (save ends).
Sid hits alarum 5 with magic weapon for 18 damage, destroying it and granting Myn the effect of magic weapon.
