Once Sureiya deftly knocks the goblins back into unconsciousness, the party quickly gathers up its healing standard and piles into the western lift, with Sid manning the control panel. After a few moments looking it over and some tinkering, the gnome manages to get it moving upwards.

You ascend for quite some time--passing by several outlets that would no doubt deposit you in various areas of Gordias, but Sid seems determined to get you as far as you can go. And that's when the lift stops--about fifteen minutes later, with a shudder, as it seems to have reached the top of the shaft in which the lift operates. The gates to the lift open, and you find yourselves in a fairly small, square room. The ceiling is only about ten feet high, so Torinn has a difficult time traversing it while mounted. It's roughly thirty feet on each side, and aside from the elevator, the only other obvious method of egress appears to be a ladder that leads upwards. However, the room is surrounded by pipes--in fact, the walls are more pipe than any other structure. Sid begins to eye the pipes, thoughtful. Aside from the service ladder, the only other features in the room are a series of metal cabinets--lockers, if you will. It would appear this is some sort of storage room, perhaps intended to be used by maintenance staff. The ladder leads up a long tube into darkness, at least forty feet up before the dim lighting filling the room fails to illuminate any further. The tube is only just barely large enough for Medium-sized creatures.

"Hmmm..." Sid hums, then turns back to the group, "Well... perhaps a search is in order?"

The lockers seem to contain lots of magical components useful in rituals--20,000 gold pieces worth of arcane reagents and 5,000 gold pieces worth of residuum. While the shaman searches the lockers, enlisting the aid of the half-orc and dragonborn for prying them open, she also finds two magic items of note. One is smooth brown agate, engraved upon which is the symbol of elemental earth--a stone of earth. Also found was a belt that appears unremarkable aside from a gleaming diamond engraved in the buckle, which the shaman can sense is filled with healing energy. This belt is clearly a diamond cincture (heroic tier).

Replying to Myn's question, Sid says, "Well... we could certainly try a different level to find an easier path. Or climb the ladder upwards, trying to find our way to the Knot," the gnome nods in the direction of the obvious way forward. "However... I suspect we are in a maintenance area." At this, he moves over towards one of the largest pipes in the room, easily large enough to fit the dragonborn and his mount inside.

Sid begins to examine what nonmagical items the shaman has found--apparently, various tools such as wrenches, hammers, and the like. "The primary purpose of these pipes is to deliver water from the lower levels to the higher ones. However, the largest pipes..." Sid knocks on the nearby pipe, and the resulting noise suggests that it is empty--in stark contrast to the ambient sound of running water produced by the smaller pipes. "...were designed to be used by maintenance staff to navigate from areas like this, which are connected to the laboratories, weapons factories, as well as operations and engineering centers and the like, to the 'guts' of the machine, which make this whole enormous construct work. If we wanted to go off the beaten path, it could be possible to pass through the waterworks towards the Knot. It won't take us directly there, but surrounding the Knot is a series of facilities designed to generate power for the Knot. Water is carried there for the purpose of creating steam--as you may have guessed, steam is the key to producing much of the machine's power. We get into one of the steam engines, we can go from there directly to the Knot."

Looking to the party as a whole, the tinker gnome adds, "Of course, if any of you have any suggestions or preferences as to our course of action from here, by all means."

The ranger looks with curiosity at the magical items they found, then replies back to the gnome.
"Well, ignoring the future-seeing claims. Where is it more likely for them to prepare the next ambuish?"

Sid considers. "Sabotaging one of the power facilities wouldn't be enough to bring down the whole engine, though it might cause some damage. It is an option, however, as we could move from facility to facility to do so." But he gives a slight shake of the head, then adds, "The truth is, I don't really know whether or not it's a good idea. Maybe Bluehand could repair the damage, perhaps not. But the Knot is... well, I can access information on the machine's status from there. As long as we keep it online, we could figure out what's going on with the machine first, then decide how to best do this."

Looking back to Sureiya, he says, "The goblins will likely fortify the Knot against intrusion, if they suspect that is where we were going. It depends on whether or not Bluehand has enough control over Gordias to track us. If they suspect we're going for the Knot, then they may fortify the chamber itself, though I doubt that, they wouldn't risk damaging it. I don't know the layout of the Knot too well, but it would be built so that people could access it. We may need to fight our way in, we may not. Too early to tell, honestly."

Sid gives Myn a somewhat skeptical look, which seems to only deepen as the owlbear tries to figure out how a ladder works. He then turns to Sureiya and says, "That is my thinking as well. Let's see...." Stepping back, Sid looks over the area, and his eyes are drawn to what appears to be a hatch firmly fastened to the pipe with iron rivets, and points. "We should be able to pry that thing open, given our collective strength. Failing that we could try and blast our way through, the pipe is sturdy but won't hold up to our level of magical force for long."

Torinn and Sureiya utilize the tools Sid provides to pry the rivets holding the hatch in place, then gingerly remove it. The inside of the pipe is dark, dry, and empty--it would appear that Sid was correct, and the tank hasn't been used to transport liquids, at least not for a very long time.

Sid immediately hops in the pipe, clearly ready to keep moving. He immediately procures and activates a sunrod to light the way, then faces the direction in which the pipe begins to incline upward, and begins to walk forward.

As the party rallies and moves through the pipes, Sid explains, "These pipes were not designed to carry water or steam... they were designed specifically for transport. A bit of an oddity in design... there is much about Gordias I do not quite understand."

The group doesn't travel long before they reach a fork in the path--one way leading back down, and the other leveling off. "This must be as far as we can go...whoa!" As the group moves up behind the gnome, it's easy to see why he is surprised. In the midst of the arrangements of pipes and metal that make up the rest of Gordias, there appears to be an enormous, dry fountain made of stone, surrounded by stone steps. Metal pipes lead to the fountain, but none appear to be dispensing water. This is an enclosed space, the only ways forward appearing to be stairs leading up and down.

"I must admit... I didn't expect to see a sight such as this here. Stonework? In the midst of a giant machine?" Sid begins to move forward uneasily. "...we should be getting close. We can't go much further upward." Looking over his shoulder back at the group, he then adds sheepishly, "I admit... I don't quite know how I know that. But I seem to have a general sense of where we are in Gordias, and we're very near the top. The power stations must be very near. These steps lead upward, so we should take them."

As the group examines the area, they do not hear the sound of creatures nearby--only the sound of rushing water coming from somewhere above. From your current vantage you can't see too far up the stairs, and a circular stone ceiling about fifty feet upward obscures your view heavily.

As Sureiya moves down the stairs, he doesn't notice much of import, except that the sound of water seems to be coming from above. The stonework is a stark contrast to the metallic environs you've faced up to this point, and the ranger notes that it seems to be in good repair. Sureiya seems intent on perceiving incoming danger, but doesn't see or hear anything amiss in the immediate vicinity.

One by one, the adventurers hop onto the magnetic rails in quick succession. This propels them a relatively short distance through a winding tunnel, and then places them in a large, open space, upon a circular metallic platform, raised about five feet above a larger circular space. Below is a series of what appear to be conductive metal rods, though the platform itself is largely featureless, except for metallic bolts holding together the plates the platform is comprised of. The walls are lined with enormous metal tubes that are spaced at a regular distance apart, perhaps carrying water. The ceiling is about fifty feet above, and is metallic and unremarkable except for an open tube directly above the center of the room, about fifteen feet in diameter. You can't see anything inside the tube. At the north end of the room is what appears to be another one of the lifts, though it seems to be securely closed at the moment.

The most striking feature in the room is the goblin standing in the center of the platform, whom you all immediately recognize as Tribunus Bluehand. He immediately notices your arrival as well, and begins speaking, "Pssh-tock... uplanders arrive at last. Uplanders are tough-skin, gobbies give you that."

As the adventurers converge and attack the hapless goblin, the sound of its gun firing briefly fills the room--and then an enormous amount of liquid of some sort suddenly drops down from the tube in the ceiling, completely covering Tribunus Bluehand and splashing Torinn.

However, even as Torinn pulls Rutger back, the liquid seems to jump off his person and pull itself together into a swirling vortex around where the goblin once stood. It seems to be being drawn towards a metallic sphere that has also dropped in from the ceiling, hovering above the pool of liquid. The liquid has a metallic sheen, suggesting it isn't water or any other form of common liquid, though it didn't burn particularly hot on Torinn's skin for the brief moment he had contact with it, though it felt quite heavy. However, the party only manages to catch a glimpse of this metallic sphere before it is completely enveloped by the torrent of liquid.

A few seconds later, the metallic liquid takes on a humanoid shape. It rises from a kneeling position and assumes a hand-to-hand fighting stance. Whatever this thing is, its intentions are clearly hostile! The goblin is nowhere to be seen. Knowledge of the living liquid is arcana or dungeoneering.

Sureiya quickly moves to engage the elemental humanoid, but every single one of his slashes is nimbly dodged by the living liquid, which moves with agile grace.

All of the sudden, a hum fills the arena, followed by the smell of ozone as the area below the platform the party is standing upon crackles with electricity. Sid looks around and quickly calls out, "Great googly-moogly! We may want to keep our distance from the edge of the platform, that electricity is highly dangerous!"

Sureiya moves, and uses twin strike, missing twice. He also uses off-hand strike, missing again.
The lair action occurs, activating the electric field. Any creature that isn't totally immune to lightning damage is subject to an attack whenever it enters the field or begins its turn within, taking lightning damage (more on a hit) and being dazed (save ends) as an effect.

The shaman quickly tries to guess at the living liquid's abilities, but can't seem to fathom an artificial, machine-made elemental. She settles for conjuring her elemental spirit and trying to infuse Sureiya, but in her haste, the infusion goes horribly wrong, and the half-orc barely even swings his blade properly, causing absolutely no damage to the living liquid.

Bernkastel uses speak with spirits, but her arcana check still fails.
Bernkastel uses spirit of athas. Bernkastel uses direct the strike, but Sureiya's melee basic attack misses.

Myn teleports a short distance while the owlbear hurriedly shuffles into the fray. With the aid of his warlock's curse, he attempts a cold-based edge to his psychic probe--and though he is able to penetrate what passes for the creature's mind and send it into a state of momentary confusion, the biting cold does not seem to adversely affect the elemental more than normal.

The creature swings blindly, an upswing that doesn't seem aimed at anything in particular--but then it swings around and lobs a large chunk of its own body in the direction of the gnome. Sid instinctively leaps to the side, though it doesn't connect with the tinker gnome. Instead, the metallic liquid reforms itself into the shape of a gigantic hand, which immediately whirls around and grabs Sid, who seems momentarily distracted by the spectacle--which is all the opening it needed.

The artificer yells in panic, futilely struggling against the iron grip of the liquid limb, before tossing a canister towards the dragonborn, calling desperately for help. The familiar gas that bursts from the canister bolsters Torinn's resolve.

Myn moves and moves his owlbear. Myn curses the living liquid.
Myn uses far realm phantasm against the living liquid, hitting for 31 damage. It takes a -2 penalty to its Will defense until the end of his next turn, and must spend its next standard action attacking empty air.
The living liquid's turn begins, and it gains its legendary actions.
The living liquid attacks the empty air with its slam attack.
The living liquid spends an action point! It uses conjure liquid limb, conjuring the liquid limb. The living liquid loses 135 HP. It can use its grab attack immediately, and gains its turn on an initiative of the living liquid's - 10.
The liquid limb's grab hits Sid, and Sid is grabbed by the liquid limb and pulled into its space.
Sid attempts to escape but fails (23 doesn't hit the liquid limb's Reflex). Sid attempts to escape again but fails again. Sid uses resistive formula on Torinn.

Suddenly, the living liquid convulses, sending out a splash with such force that it batters the half-orc and half-elf. Torinn and his mount escape unscathed, for now.

At the end of Sid's turn, the living liquid takes its legendary action to splash, attacking in a close burst 5. It misses Torinn and Rutger, but hits Sureiya and Myn for 11 damage (damage Sureiya takes is reduced to 6).

Torinn's sacred challenge turns the living liquid's attention towards the dragonborn, and for its efforts it is stabbed through by the dragonborn's magic blade. Ripples run across the living liquid's body as Torinn's divine order takes hold. It lets loose another splashing attack, but only Torinn and Rutger are even caught in this one, and don't seem terribly affected.

Sid, however, is in worse shape, as the hand-shaped liquid crushes the gnome as it drags him into the pit of electricity, then flings him to the ground. The tinker gnome's body convulses, though his armor seems to be protecting him from some of the shock and he doesn't seem terribly wounded--yet.

Torinn uses his divine challenge against the living liquid.
Torinn's certain justice hits the living liquid for 12 damage, and it becomes dazed and weakened until no longer marked by Torinn.
At the end of Torinn's turn, the living liquid uses splash, missing Myn, Sureiya, and the owlbear, but hitting Torinn and Rutger for 12 damage (Torinn reduces to 3, Rutger reduces to 1).
The liquid limb hits Sid with slam for 18 damage. It then uses forceful drag, moving 2 squares and ending the grab, knocking Sid prone. Sid is in electricity, so he is attacked by the lair and hit for 21 lightning damage (reduced to 16). He is also dazed (save ends).

Sureiya focuses hard on the living liquid, and though the living liquid manages to dodge a few of his slashes, he lands enough telling blows to leave the elemental noticeably diminished in form, and it staggers slightly. It lets loose one final splash against the nearby adventurers, then wobbles, and shifts, forming briefly into an orb of metallic liquid before bursting outward. It seems smaller than it was before, but its form is now nearly identical to that of the hand-shaped mass to the southwest.

Sureiya sets his quarry and oath of emnity. Sureiya uses twin strike, missing once and critting once for 66 damage.
Sureiya spends an action point! Sureiya uses twin strike and hits once for 28 damage. The living liquid is bloodied.
Sureiya uses sohei flurry and hits for 35 damage.
At the end of Sureiya's turn, the living liquid uses splash, hitting Torinn, Rutger, Myn, and the owlbear for 15 damage (reduced to 5 for Torinn, the owlbear and Rutger take 2 damage, Myn takes 7 damage). It misses Sureiya.
On the lair action, the living liquid changes to its hand form.

The shaman knows that its base statistics are more or less the same as in its humanoid form, though its land speed is only 2, but it has a fly speed of 6 (hover, altitude limit 1), and it is now a skirmisher. In hand form, the living liquid no longer has legendary actions. It has several traits: action recovery, which says that at the end of each of the living liquid's turns, it ends any dazing, dominating, or stunning effect on it. Liquid body means that the living liquid can occupy spaces occupied by other creatures, and it takes no penalty for squeezing (and does not move at half speed while doing so), as it can squeeze through spaces as small as one inch. Finally, it has the master hand trait, which grants the Fluid Swipe and Equal Concentration powers to the liquid limb, as well as the Action Recovery trait.

As for its powers, it has a slam attack, which is a melee basic attack vs. AC with a reach of 1, that hits for damage. 1/round, it can use fluid swipe, which is a close blast 5 attack vs. Reflex, dealing moderate damage to creatures in the blast, half damage on a miss. Additionally, one ally in line of effect can also use Fluid Swipe. Equal Concentration causes the liquid to lose hit points, and grant that many temporary hit points to an ally in line of effect. At the start of this creature's (the one that uses equal concentration) next turn, the ally also gets a +20 bonus to damage rolls as long as it has temporary hit points. This happens even if this this creature is reduced to 0 hit points.

All of the above are standard actions, and it has one final standard action: digititis. When the living liquid uses digititis, it chooses three creatures in a close burst 20. One of these creatures is affected by vulnerability, one is weakened, and one is affected by healing down. These effects last until the end of that creature's turn. If that creature shares or passes through a space with one of its non-summon allies during its turn, it can transfer this effect to that willing ally, though the effect still ends at the end of the original creature's turn. As an aftereffect, this effect persists until the end of the encounter. Once the aftereffect is active, the effect can no longer be transferred to another creature.

Weakened is as the condition. Vulnerability means that the creature becomes vulnerable 5 to the Slam and Fluid Swipe powers, and this vulnerability increases by 5 each time the creature is damaged by one of these powers, up to vulnerable 20. Healing down means that when the creature uses a power that restores hit points to itself or an ally, it only restores half that many hit points.

Myn quickly draws some additional power into himself, before placing his curse on the unarmed hand. He then uses a potent psychic attack on his cursed targets, and while the living liquid seems unaffected the liquid limb squirms slightly underneath the pressure the warlock applies. The shaman is quick to spring into action, using her swiftly-summoned spirit to draw Sid out of the electricity before calling both Myn and Sureiya into action via additional infusions. Their combined attacks diminish the living liquid by quite a bit more.

The living liquid begins to make a strange gesture with its body, the "fingers" on the hand glowing briefly. Suddenly, Torinn seems more vulnerable to attack, the shaman feels her healing magic diminished, and Sureiya feels weakness overcoming him. These effects will swiftly worsen unless they are passed to someone else, though the only viable targets appear to be living creatures, not elementals or summons. Sid briefly struggles to snap out of his daze, and seems to slowly be coming to his senses--too slowly, as the other hand is still nearby.

Myn uses life siphon, regaining 5 hit points.
Myn teleports, then curses the liquid limb. Myn uses cursebite, missing the living liquid but hitting the liquid limb for 40 damage.
Bernkastel uses call spirit companion to call her spirit near Sid. Bernkastel uses assistance of the strong spirit, pulling Sid out of the lightning. Bernkastel moves and moves her spirit companion.
Bernkastel spends an action point! Bernkastel uses sly fox spirit, and Sureiya's melee basic attack hits the living liquid for 37 damage. Myn's eldritch blast hits the living liquid for 32 damage.
Living liquid uses digititis. Torinn is affected by vulnerability, Sureiya is weakened, and Bernkastel is affected by healing down. At the end of the living liquid's turn, it is no longer dazed or weakened due to action recovery.
Sid uses swift mender on himself, but fails the saving throw. He succeeds on his end-of-turn saving throw and is no longer dazed.

Torinn doesn't quite manage to land a hit on the nimble hand-like elemental, but it can't seem to slap him either as he slips away to transfer his vulnerability to the warlock. However, the other hand moves into position, and almost in perfect unison, the two hands make a slapping motion, spraying the adventurers in front of them with the metallic liquid. However, none seem terribly injured by the deluge, and Torinn attempts to slash back with the shaman's potent warning, though he has trouble forcing his blade through the onslaught and only manages to stick the tip in one of the fingers, not causing any damage.

Suddenly, then, the liquid limb clenches tightly, and a large glob of it separates from its body, glowing brilliantly as it does so. It then slams directly into the living liquid, reinvigorating it.

Torinn misses the living liquid with brash strike, but gains a +5 bonus to all defenses until the start of his next turn. He then moves, and the living liquid's opportunity attack misses. He passes vulnerability to Myn.
The liquid limb moves, and uses fluid swipe, hitting Myn and missing Bernkastel for 4 damage (reduced from 9). Myn's vulnerability increases to 10. The living liquid uses fluid swipe, and Bernkastel uses powerful warning to make it miss Torinn, though his melee basic attack misses (26 with the +1 item bonus). It hits Rutger for 1 damage and Sureiya for 7 damage (reduced from 12).
The liquid limb spends an action point! The liquid limb uses equal concentration, losing 70 hit points and granting the living liquid 70 temporary hit points. If the living liquid has temporary hit points at the start of the liquid limb's next turn, the living liquid gains a +20 bonus to damage rolls as long as it has temporary hit points.

"For sure" the ranger says, moving with leisure around the liquid menace, confident it won't try to break Torin's mark. He goes next to the Shaman, and transfers the strange curse into her, thanking her, just before getting in position for some more metal slashing.

Move into flanking position with Torinn, transfer weakened effect to the Shaman
Twin Strike! (24 and 28 damage, after pincer)
Ruffling Sting! (28 damage plus 7 from quarry)

Sureiya quickly transfers the affliction weakening him to the shaman, and then rushes back into the fray, with Torinn's sacred challenge apparently preventing the living liquid from exploiting the opportunity to slam him mercilessly. The ranger's slices swiftly cleave away the health the hand-shaped liquid had been granted by its counterpart.

Suddenly, the entire room seems to shift, and the two hands slide through the air into slightly different positions. The warlock is now threatened by the nearby limb.

Sureiya moves, and transfers the weakened condition to Bernkastel. Sureiya uses twin strike twice, hitting for 24 damage and 28 damage.
Sureiya uses ruffling sting, hitting for 35 damage.
The lair action is sleight of hand, and the lair slides both the living liquid and liquid limb 3 squares.

Player Characters

"Bernkastel" (Voyager): 70/74 HP (6/8 Surges), +5 power to damage (Wrath of the Gods), healing down (digititis), weakened (digititis)
Spirit Companion (Voyager):
Elemental Spirit (Voyager): allies within 2 have resist 5, adjacent allies and the shaman get +1 power to all defenses
Sid Silversprocket (NPC): 49/83 HP (5/11 Surges), resist 5 lightning, +5 power to damage (Wrath of the Gods), prone

Enemies
Living Liquid (Enemy) -393 HP (Bloodied), divine challenge, Sureiya's quarry, cursed (Myn)
Liquid Limb (Enemy) -110 HP, cursed (Myn)

Notes
Digitits has three effects: weakened, vulnerability, or healing down.

If the living liquid has temporary hit points at the start of the liquid limb's next turn, it gains a +20 bonus to damage rolls as long as it has temporary hit points.

The enemy ruins the positioning, but the shaman and the taller spirit conjure some diminutive air spirits to help everyone follow the hands.

<Move action> Reorient the Axis. Allies within 5 can shift 5 squares.
- Torinn+Rutger can shift 1sq south, 2sq southeast (elevation 0, taking the shaman's Healing Down), and 2sq east (elevation 1 again). Taking this longer path is necessary to move around Spirit of Athas.
- Sureiya can shift 2sq southwest.
- Apsa should shift 5sq south.
- Myn can just stay where he is.
- SC moves (up to its speed, which is 6) adjacent to Myn.
<Standard action> Spirit Infusion for Myn vs. Living Liquid.
- 27 vs. Reflex, 34 damage. https://orokos.com/roll/586412
- SC is dismissed.
<Minor action> Call SC to 2sq south of the shaman, elevation 1.

Myn uses a psychic attack, followed by an eldritch blast granted to him by the shaman's spirit infusion, to continue to blow away at the living liquid, which is now barely keeping itself together, even as "Bernkastel" uses an air position to guide the party into more advantageous positions.

Sid staggers to his feet, and tries to launch an effective wind-based infusion against the two elemental-like creatures, but both nimbly dodge out of the way, causing the tinker gnome to curse under his breath. Torinn is even more heavily fortified against attacks, however.

Myn teleports. Myn uses shared agony, taking 10 damage (reduced to 5) to make sure it hits the living liquid for 36 pyschic damage. He regains 4 hit points.
Bernkastel uses reorient the axis, allowing her allies to shift around. She then uses spirit infusion, and Myn's eldritch blast hits the living liquid for 34 damage.
The living liquid tries to slam Torinn but misses.
Sid stands from prone. Sid uses gale-force infusion on Torinn, missing both the liquid limb and living liquid but granting Torinn a +7 bonus to AC.

Torinn's divine strength flares as he beckons the amorphous foes to attack him. When they fall for his ploy, he lashes out with divine energy, dealing high damage to his foes, especially the liquid limb. As fortified as he is, they may have no option but to attempt to attack someone else - and suffer heavily for it.
Torinn uses Come and Get It, hitting both and critting the Liquid Limb (22 damage to living liquid, 40 damage to liquid limb, extra damage is radiant damage)

Torinn's sweeping attack severely damages both of the liquid hands, the healthier one considerably so. They lash out back with swipes that spew their metallic liquid everywhere, prompting a response from Torinn that damages the liquid limb further, but none of the adventurers appear severely hurt yet. The party's resolve is strong, and they stand barely damaged against the nearly-destroyed living liquid.

Torinn uses come and get it, hitting the living liquid for 22 damage and critting the liquid limb for 31 damage. The liquid limb is bloodied.
The liquid limb uses fluid swipe, violating Torinn's mark and targeting Bernkastel, Sureiya, and the owlbear. It misses, dealing 9 damage to Bernkastel, 7 damage to Sureiya, and 4 damage to Myn's owlbear.
Torinn's combat challenge melee basic attack hits the liquid limb for 24 damage.
The living liquid uses fluid swipe, hitting Torinn and Rutger for 21 damage (Torinn reduces to 16, Rutger reduces to 11).

Sureiya adjusts his focus after delivering one more brutal slash to the living liquid, trying to get a better sense of the battlefield, and in doing so, shifts his target of choice to the liquid limb. However, the ranger can sense power gathering in the center of the chamber, underneath where Myn stands.

Suddenly, the half-orc is caught off-guard as both hands slam into the platform, palm-first, sending waves of metallic liquid to bowl over the shaman and Sureiya. "Bernkastel" manages to hold firm, but Sureiya's distraction leaves him stumbling south.

Sureiya uses twin strike, hitting once for 38 damage.
Sureiya uses perception. Sureiya sets his quarry to the liquid limb.
The lair uses wash away, missing Bernkastel and hitting Surieya. It slides Sureiya 3 squares in a random direction.

It would be ill-advised to get too close.

However, right next to the vortex, four ooze-like blobs of liquid form into distinct entities, which begin to lurch towards the edge of the platform upon which you currently stand, apparently drawn to the electricity.

Sid begins to stammer, "W-we've got trouble, gang! If those lubricants reach the edge, we're all going to be electrified! They're really, really, slow, and cold makes them slower, so let's blast em down quick!"

Sureiya uses twin strike, missing once and hitting once for 36 damage, destroying the liquid limb.
On the lair action, the living liquid enters its vortex form and uses spawn lubricants, creating four gear lubricants in adjacent tiles. Each of the gear lubricants moves 2 squares.

Knowledge of the living liquid's vortex form is arcana or dungeoneering. The same checks can also identify knowledge relating to the gear lubricants.

Sid's knowledge check on the lubricants means you know that they are limited to one minor, move, or standard action per turn, and if they are dazed they are instead stunned for the same duration. If they become slowed, their speed drops to 1 instead of 2, as their base speed is 2. They are immune to disease and poison. If they take cold damage, they are slowed until the end of their next turn. They have the liquid form trait of the living liquid, and are thus able to pass through occupied squares. They are level 11 skirmishers with a speed of 2, and have half the normal amount of hit points of normal monsters of their level. If they reach the lightning zone at the edge of the platform, they will explode in a close burst 20, dealing heavy lightning damage to enemies in the burst, along with a large amount of ongoing lightning damage (save ends). Otherwise though, they have no attacks at all, and thus no opportunity attacks, and you can move around and through them safely. They are small elemental animates.

Torinn and Sureiya's sword slashes leave the nearest ooze barely cohesive and half-frozen, while Myn's eldritch blast has a similar effect on the northmost ooze. However, the living liquid appears to be regaining vitality, and even as it does so, it invokes some strange power of the lair. Four of the adventurers are suddenly charged with powerful electricity, with Myn and Sureiya feeling themselves pulled towards each other, while Sureiya and Bernkastle seem to be repelling each other.

Sid fires off a shot, but seems too distracted by the strange energy that he is suddenly infused with. Desperately attempting to counteract it, he scampers to the south, motioning for Myn to head north.

Torinn's opportunity attack hits lubricant 3 for 23 damage.
Myn teleports, curses lubricant 1, and hits it with eldrtich blast for 42 damage, bloodying it. Curse damage is cold, slowing it.
Bernkastel moves, then uses spirit infusion, and Sureiya's ranged basic attack hits for 28 damage, bloodying and slowing lubricant 3. Bernkastel calls her spirit companion back.
The living liquid regains 135 hit points. It uses ferrofluid. See notes for details.
Sid uses magic weapon but misses lubricant 1. Sid moves, and is primed for ferrofluid.

Notes
The Living Liquid's space and its aura 1 are now hazardous terrain that will damage you when passing through. You will take poison damage every time you enter a square in the living liquid's space or its aura.

The Living Liquid appears to currently be highly resistant to damage, and the lubricants are slowly moving towards the lightning on the edge of the arena.

When the Living Liquid uses ferrofluid, two pairs of creatures are assigned charges and tethered together. Once a creature affected by ferrofluid ends its turn, it becomes primed. If it is linked to another primed creature, those creatures are either pulled 5 squares towards each other if they have opposite charges, or pushed 5 squares away from each other if they have the same charge. The affected creatures can choose their trajectory. This effect then ends on those creatures and they are no longer primed. If two creatures with opposite charges are pulled adjacent to each other, they both become stunned until the end of their next turn and weakened until the end of the encounter.
