While in Tyr, the party is approached by a dwarf messenger in the marketplace. He hands you a sheet of rolled papyrus, sealed with a wax mark depicting three dragonflies. Inside is written the following :

Greetings from House Shom.
We've sent messengers throughout Tyr to deliver this communication to those of mercenary guise. If you be such, and you wish to earn a great reward, read on.
Desert raiders harass and disrupt our caravans, yet the Revolutionary Council of Tyr will not lift a finger to help. Thus, honest merchants must find aid elsewhere.
The raiders claim that our caravans know the site of a ruined temple called the Face in the Stone. They claim that if we give up the location, their attacks will cease. But we know nothing of the ruin. Moreover, a Shom caravan seeking to find the Face in the Stone never returned.
Our request is this: Find the Face in the Stone, learn the fate of our lost caravan, and provide assistance to any survivors. All we have concerning the ruin's location is a line from an old poem: "Where the devil's horn threads the tunnel in the sky, a stony visage rarely blinks its hollow eye."
Return with your findings to our emporium in Tyr, and you will be heralded as heroes of House Shom.

You spoke with the representatives of House Shom, who claim the site's general location is supposedly in the wilderness-a few days' trek northeast of Tyr. However, despite your queries, no one in the city-state seems to know anything more about the precise location of the Face in the Stone, so it's up to all of you to find the location on your own. Having House Shom indebted to you is too good a deal to pass up.

In spite of her age, Recette manages the counter at one of House Shom's market stalls. Having been taken in after her release from slavery, she owes them for her food, housing and continued education. After discovering her psionic abilities, the leaders of House Shom sent her to accompany the party and see how well they handle the situation with the caravan raiders. If she comes back with a report that isn't completely negative, it could mean more work in the future. If she doesn't come back, it means one less mouth to feed.

Wearing a horned skull as a mask, the raider lord Yarnath the Skull leads a nameless band of brigands from his crawling citadel, Slither. The citadel is a moving, animate fortress of bone and and rock, from which the mul defiler plots and commands his forces. Yarnath seeks power, and will stop at nothing to get it. When he has shown mercy, a rare thing indeed, he does so only so long as he can call upon those he spared for a favor in the future. And Yarnath always sees such debts paid in full.

Stepping lightly up the steps and peering through the door, Tainya finds the car to be covered in grime and dirt. Far more so than the last car, which had piles of bones inside. But again, the contents seem to consist solely of crates and barrels made of old wood. If nothing else, at least the persons who last organized them stacked them together instead of leaving them strewn about the entire car. Securing everything with rope would have been a smart idea, though.

While hardly interesting, she also notices the floor to be made of overlapping sheets of metal. This car was not designed to be appealing to the eye, nor were passengers ever expected to come back here. It was designed to keep its contents secure. And arguably it has done so, though unless you looked inside the containers, it'd be hard to tell what's supposed to be inside.

A half an hour later, Gardain and his guardian start knocking on doors and confirming who would join them at the bar. Cidri is conspicuously absent from the group. He reaches Melech and Sophie's room and knocks politely, calling out for them with, "'ey, you all fancy joining us for a drink and a round of gambling?"

Opening the door to properly address Gardain, she says, "We will definitely be joining you at the bar shortly."

Assuming level 10 start with 22,400 gold, this is a tentative version of my character. Still needs work on the fine details.

Charge attack with Berserker's Charge stance is +19 attack, 2d6 (brutal 1) + 1d8 + 1d6 + 18 damage. +2d6 (brutal 1) with combat advantage. +1d8 with Berserker Fury.

This is going to serve as a general rules and setting information repository.

The most important rule is this :
If you can't post, or think you might not be able to post, you warn me, or warn somebody who can warn me, or get the information to me somehow. And also if you want us to wait for you (we can wait) or if we should continue on without you/take your turn for you (default after 24 hrs of no response). This is really fucking important. Do not forget this rule. I have to put my foot down and say that if you can't agree to this, you're not playing. I don't care who you are or how long I've known you, if you can't contact me within a reasonable timeframe of being inconvenienced, you're not playing.

Probably the most applicable rule is this : if a houserule isn't listed here, we're probably not using it.

Making a Character

We're starting this game at level 2, so your character has 1000 experience points alreay.

You're restricted to the following classes and their subclasses when making a character, and cannot multiclass into any class not listed. Hybrids are not allowed, and the Divine power source does not exist in this setting - anything with the Divine keyword cannot be used here. Classes such as the artificer, swordmage, and bladesinger are (apparently) setting-specific, and so cannot be used here without a good (story) reason (being transplanted from another plane does not count as a good story reason).

Gameplay

Leveling up happens during an extended rest after you've acquired enough experience to progress to the next level.

You can take an extended rest anywhere, but bear in mind that it's very unsafe away from civilization and you have a chance to be interrupted if you don't take precautions.

Arcane characters are feared, hated, and reviled by the vast majority of the people. If you want to avoid this, you'll have to disguise your magic as something psionic (e.g. wizard uses fireball, claims pyrokinesis) using a bluff check. This may extend to your party members if they're not okay with it (you only need to roll one bluff check for the party). If you use Arcane Defiling, however, no amount of bluffing will convince witnesses that you are not a wielder of arcane power.

Metal is extremely rare on Athas. You can't have anything made of metal unless you find it during the course of the game or it is given to you during the course of the game.

I think this is as good a place as any to end the adventure. Sorry if you were hoping for closure, but I don't think I can do much else with it.

Aside from the sudden and abrupt ending, what did everybody think? Did you all have fun? Was it challenging? Were the descriptions okay?

I enjoyed most of it, though it maybe could've been a little harder at points, that's really my only complaint. It was fun, I really enjoy playing warden and I'd like to do more!
