This is what I am considering playing (subject line) as the party striker, based on configuration:

anon-kun: Healing-focused Cleric (Leader)
Gogo: Paladin (Defender)
Cirno: Wizard (Controller)
Squitcher: Swordmage (Defender)
Me: Slayer (Striker)

I am assuming a starting GP of 22,400 and level 10, though tell me if that's wrong~

This is somewhat a work in progress, but I had a lot of fun making it so far. I considered getting a weapon of speed for the hand crossbow too but I thought I might be crossing the line into "too cheesy" and "too high OP" territory there~ Maybe even the shuriken of speed is too much, but I'll let Rotho decide that~

Anyway, I kitted it out with a bunch of ammunition and alchemical things and poisons and stuff to have fun with~ Let me know if anything looks suspicious or out of place.

It'd be fine, except that's a rare weapon, which I don't think we'd be able to get our hands on in /limbo/. Can you justify why your character has something like that? Or why we can't have rare stuff in /limbo/?

My opinion on rares is that I'd allow them in /limbo/ on a case-by-case basis, and they'd pretty much always be found rather than bought or enchanted. That doesn't really analogue well to /parlor/, which isn't an extended campaign and doesn't offer a chance to collect a bunch of loot over time~

I would rule max 1 rare item if you grant them at all. I didn't want them in my campaign though.

Semi-final version of my character's sheet, I may make minute changes, adjustments, or additions later on if I so choose~

Some additional notes (much of her backstory is listed under Session and Campaign Notes, and other information can be found in the other RP-related fields like traits and personality, etc):

Background - Xen'drik: As mentioned in the "Session and Campaign Notes" background information, Tainya originally hails from the jungles of Xen'drik, though few people are aware of this, because very few people are even aware that she is a drow. Her skill in disguise is exceptional, and even most other members of House Phiarlan that she has encountered believe her to be an eladrin (she has a disguise kit and the flawless disguise class feature, which can be used to assume the appearance of a nondescript member of another race).

Background - Drow (Outcast): After a heated disagreement with a drow matron who served as the head of her family, Tainya set out on her own in the dense jungles of Xen'drik. The argument concerned the young drow's skill in tracking, which Tainya considered to be much higher than the matron assumed, and thus, in a fit of adolescent rage, she ran away from home. This is when wayward explorers with a loose connection to House Phiarlan discovered her, and she eventually found her way to them and was kept on retainer for the house (though she lacks the dragonmark and is not an official member).

Background - Assassin: In the employ of House Phiarlan, she assumes the identity of an eladrin while honing her skills with both alchemy, espionage, and occasionally, assassination. She always receives her orders from the enigmatic Hydra, who has appeared in many different forms to Tainya. Because it is known that Hydra always appears in disguise, it is not known whether Hydra is actually one person or many assuming its identity, but what IS known is that those who attempt to pass themselves off as Hydra falsely usually end up dead in short order. Tainya has carried out such assassinations personally. In one particular assignment, she ended up stealing a certain magical hand crossbow that caught her eye from the vaults of a recently-deceased noble. Since that occurrence, she has added lock-picking and device-disabling to her repertoire. And so in addition to serving as an assassin, she also has a small fascination with matters scientific, as evidenced by her proficiency with mechanical traps and locks as well as alchemy. (She possesses a rare crossbow, a hand crossbow of speed, and the Sneak of Shadows feat grants her the Thievery skill).

When we begin Astaroth's game (NOT the test game), your character will be level 10, and you will have 22,400gp to spend. You will be expected to use this gold to equip you with magic items~ I realize the list of magic items may be intimidating, so let me give you an idea of what you need~

The Most Important Thing!!!
By far your biggest priority should be to fill three slots: your weapon (or implement for implement-using classes like the wizard, some classes like the swordmage use their weapon as an implement), armor, and neck slot item. Because we are level 10, each one should be at least +2. You probably will not be able to afford +3, or rather, you could, but it would take up a huge amount of gold for a single +3 item.

Why these three slots? A magic weapon/implement grants you its enhancement bonus to attack rolls and damage rolls made with the weapon/implement. This means a +2 weapon gives you +2 to attacks/damage. That's very good~ Don't worry about the math, if you're using the character builder, it takes care of it for you. Likewise, magic armor grants you the enhancement bonus to AC, and a neck slot item grants you the enhancement bonus to Fortitude, Reflex, and Will defenses. That's why these three slots are the most critical--they grant you free passive bonuses that are always useful and all apply. This is in addition to any other special effects they have~! So dwarven armor +2 grants you +2 AC, but you also get a bonus to Endurance checks and a daily free action self-heal.

I'm now going to list some "generally useful items" for these three slots--these are items that you can fall back on if you just can't choose, because they are acknowledged to be useful to a variety of classes and in a variety of situations~ They may not always be THE most useful item, but they are never a BAD choice~

Remember, these are just recommendations! If you find something you like better, and you can afford it, then by all means~

Weapon

Farbond Spellblade / Dwarven Thrower / Hungry Weapon - These three properties apply to three different kinds of weapons, but they all have one thing in common--they allow you to throw your melee weapon, regardless of what kind of melee weapon it is. That can be useful for situations where you just can't reach an enemy but need to attack~

Vanguard Weapon - Favored weapon for offensive builds that like to charge.

Sacrificial Weapon - For defenders with lots of healing surges, this is cheap and offers a way to weaken a target~ A weakened target deals half as much damage.

Weapon of Healing - Can only be applied to maces, but offers a free bonus to all of your healing~ Favored by clerics and certain paladins.

Implements Since our resident implement-user is a wizard, I'll focus on wizard implements~

Orb of Forceful Magic - If you have a lot of powers that push, pull, or slide, this adds a free distance bonus to the amount you move with those powers~

Orb of Nimble Thoughts - Provides a bonus to initiative, and a fairly useful encounter power~ However, keep in the mind the item bonus to initiative will not stack with other item bonuses to initiative, such as that granted by Casque of Tactics.

Orb of Impenetrable Escape - Cheap and has a useful power~

Defensive Staff - Provides a very decent item bonus to defenses, especially useful if you have the staff of defense class feature~

Aversion Staff - Gives you a defensive bonus against creatures under any effect caused by you. As a wizard, you should always be imposing effects on enemies, so this can be useful~

Staff of Ruin - For damage, you can't go wrong with this one~ If you have a build that focuses on dealing damage, this is highly recommended~

Staff of Sleep and Charm - If your wizard has a focus on enchantment spells, you'll love this one~

Staff of the War Mage - Expand the radius of your powers. Can be good for wizards that focus heavily on bursts and blasts (which is most of them)~

Armor This list will be short, there are a few pieces of armor I favor~

Dwarven Armor (Heavy Armor Only) - Cheap, endurance bonus, but you came here for the daily free-action self-heal. Being able to heal yourself as a free action once per day is a lot more useful than it might appear at first~ Trust me on this~

Flowform Armor (Leather and Cloth Only) - This armor has an encounter-based power that can end a harmful effect before it has any chance to hinder you. What more needs to be said~?

Marauder's Armor (Leather and Hide Only) - For charge builds, this gives you +1 AC whenever you charge. Plus it has a daily healing power you can use whenever you hit with a charge attack. Quite useful~

Neck Slot Items This will also be short for the same reasons~

Amulet of Resolution / Amulet of Physical Resolve / Amulet of Mental Resolve - These items are cheap and help you out with your saves. Mostly choose these if you want to save money~

Steadfast Amulet - The power is daily, but it isn't expended if the save fails, and it can end daze or stun before it has a chance to affect you at all. And that's great~

Badge of the Berserker - For charge builds, you no longer provoke opportunity attacks when charging~

Deep-Pocket Cloak - For packrats. Something to consider if you find yourself overburdened, this can store (metaphorically) tons of items and you can pull any one of them out as a free action~

I will post additional help for other slots later~

Consider Cloak of Displacement, which is a level 10 neck item that grants a +2 bonus to AC and Reflex at the start of an encounter until an attack against either defence hits.

There's also more than just the ones rin recommended which could be good, just depends on your type of character you choose to play or type of class, along with what kind of adventure you might be facing. (Meliorating is good if you have encounter after encounter without an extended rest, etc)

Kay, so, strategery: Steiner is vulnerable now so hit him with everything we've got. We need one more solid hit to take down the drake. Choco, if you can use Divine Mettle on Rulk on your turn that'd be great~ I suggest that everyone that can goes for Steiner and leaves the drake for Rulk. Even a weak hit on Steiner now will deal an extra 6 damage, so we want as many hits on him as possible to take advantage of that~

On the other hand, if Choco uses Divine Mettle on Rulk, and Rulk saves, then Cirno could try to hit the drake with Winged Horde, which would allow Rulk to charge Steiner.

It's really up to you guys to decide how to proceed~ If the drake is still alive on my turn and not hit with winged horde though I'll do my best to finish it off. If choco could give me a flank that'd be much appreciated (move to X-29), we'll both get a +2 to attacks against the drake~

Tentatively and unless there's any objection this would be the final version of my sheet.
I think Devas don't work that way, they are supposed to reborn in a special way or etc, but I don't see any other way a Deva could get a dragonmark, because the book doesn't even specify very well how the first Deva appeared.

As far as he can remember, Reiyasu has been working for the Jorasco House. Gifted with the Mark of Healing, he became a cleric, and his job was to treat the wounded soldiers from the war. He also has some decent fighting experience, despite being a pacifist.

When the war ended, Reiyasu was sent to the Jorasco settlement in Fairhaven. Since then he has been paid to heal nobles and to escort VIPs.
During his free time, the cleric has taken some affinity in reading, especially mystery novels. This has grown to the degree of his calling himself a detective and trying to solve real cases, but has been a complete disaster.

Even with his keen senses, Reiyasu is bad at putting the pieces together. It has been only two years since his hobby started, yet he has managed to accuse the wrong person 4 times already, including the one who supposedly stole Queen Aurala's familiar, which ultimately turned out to be lost.

Sophie ‘s dad, being a very powerful wizard and part of the Arcane Congress, did not have much time to tend to her, so he hired a body guard for her from a young age, a young Paladin named Melech. They lived in the floating towers of Arcanix, where her father had a personal laboratory, and she was pushed to study wizardry, that she may one day become as good a wizard as her father.
Sophie enjoys descending to Arcanix and impressing visitors from elsewhere in Aundair with the magic she thoroughly studied in the Library of Robideur, always accompanied by Melech. She spends much of her free time in the library, reading the ancient history of Arcanix and the rest of Aundair.

Reiyasu accomplishments:
About 3 years ago during the war, Reiyasu's duty as a Medic made him get close to the front lines. One night the campsite where he was staying got attacked and he was forced to fight. From his cleric training, Reiyasu has a covenant with himself which obliges him not to hurt the others. Regardless of this Reiyasu was forced to use his divine powers against the enemy. After that, he started to get used to staying in the front lines, which allowed him to develop ways to hinder his opponents without hurting them.

One year ago, when he was ordered to escort some diplomatics of the Arcane Congress, his group got ambushed by thieves. One of them was an outcast, a powerful warrior. Seeing the life of the diplomats in danger, Reiyasu focused his powers on debuffing the warrior, which later developed into one of his stronger powers. Iron to Glass, it rendered the warrior's physical strength until he became almost unable to fight. Once he came to realize it, the thieves retreated, and the group managed to reach its destination.

"Narerka's youth was a pretty troubled one.
He knows himself little about his birth, being a half-elf, he was the son of a man and a female elf.
However, his mother was part of a pretty secluded Elf community, and when words came that she was pregnant with a Human's son,
she became loathed by the whole community. She was exiled two weeks after Narerka's birth. All that is known is that she left
the child to a group of wandering drows passing by. The last word she said to the leader of the group was
"It was in our best interest, I just hope he won't hate me." She was never heard from again.
As for the father, very little is known about him, even how they both met, but Malagyln, leader of the Drow group, seems to
know him somehow.

After being picked up by the drows while not even a month old, he grew up with them till the age of 10, wandering through the
various plains of Khorvaire. They apparently left the Xen'drik continent years ago, since they hold opinions in strong
disaccord with the Xen'Drik's drows. He learned basics of hunting and survival in these years, even if not being particularly
good at it. Malaglyn, leader of the group, treated him like his real flesh and blood, and if he was strict, he did
cherish his moments with Narerka, and Narerka respected him like a father as well, making up for his own lack of parental figure.

Two months after he reached the age of 10, Malaglyn told him he could not stay with them longer, and that he feared growing
up with drows, beings loathed by the general community, would only hurt him and his future. He wished for Narerka to not live
a life of constant wandering and become something more.
So that Narerka may live a better life, he put him under the care of Taldor d'Medani, who he knew during the Last War.
Taldor accepted, on the condition that Narerka was to join the Basilisk's Gate when he would be strong enough.

And so Narerka was under Taldor's guard. He certainly was a different man, distant, cold, but all the same very dignified.
He taught Narerka how to fight and use swords, and by the age of 13 he was strong enough to take care of thieves and robbers.
But Taldor still didn't thought he was ready yet. Narerka then learned the ways of a Swordmage. At 16 he finally joined
the Basilisk's Gate, that group under the Medani House who hunts war criminals. He didn't have the common profile of the
group members, but his sturdiness and willingness to fight made him a really efficient piece in the group.
His main feat was the capture, all alone of Hardarak, the 'Medani hunter', an assassin who mainly targeted the Medani House.
After turning 20, he felt the need to explore the world by himself and took on a journey across Khorvaire, Taldor simply
said to this" You've proved some talents kid. Come back again someday".

To this day, he still is wandering around the world. Taking from his two caretakers, he is a calm and thoughtful young man,
and does not like to talk about his life. But he does cherish the people he come to appreciate, and if he values is own life
above all else, he would be willing to take risk for another's life. "

Well, It took longer than I thought, and I think there's a lot of things I'll have to add or change, but here it is.

Super pooped so I'll take a while, possibly tomorrow morning. I was thinking of a Hengeyokai (Dog) Druid with the Werewolf Theme.

Shapeshift into Werewolf, this means I can use Beast Form powers... but since it's half, I can also access regular powers. This opens up Polearm Momentum cheese AND I get to pick regular Druid attack powers for control. I probably lack the powers and benefits a Druid confers when "you use wild shape", but you can't have everything. (And I think it's pretty neat to have a character that can change into a dog, werewolf, half-dog/half-human, half-werewolf/half-hengeyokai and primal beast. :D

Not sure how I'm going to make it so I could use some advice. I am kind of set on wanting Wild Talent Master for telepathy and far-seeing eye. The idea is to always be in half-Werewolf form to get access to all the delicious beast powers and get +2 speed from the Werewolf theme. (Of course, Bear would get +2 AC, but a Bear isn't as cool as a Werewolf, although it could kill enemies with its bare hands.)

Polearm momentum works fine for all druid powers as long as you use an alfsair spear. Otherwise it doesn't work at all. It's powerful but it does limit your item choices, you pretty much need at minimum an alfsair spear and rushing cleats to make it work.

I assume she wants to use the hybrid form, effectively giving access to both normal powers and beast form powers~ It's fine except you lose the benefits of agile form/pouncing beast armor, otherwise it works like a normal druid's wildshape, except you don't have to spend minor actions to shift back and forth.

As for build advice, it really depends on whether you intend to use polearm shenanigans or not. If you do it will largely dominate your build choices, but I should emphasize that it's very potent, especially since druids themselves have pretty good zone-based dailies and powers (you can slide them into your zones and knock them prone, making it difficult to leave).

Hafted Defense isn't really gonna help much since Choco's paladin will have the Devoted Protector feat. It's only +1 Reflex. Lightning Reflexes would be strictly better.

Wary Fighter seems like a weird choice when your Dex is already so close to your Wis. Unless you're taking it for the +2 Perception/Insight, wouldn't Improved Initiative be better? It's only giving you +1 Init.

Why the heck do you need melee training? Would you ever use a regular MBA over Savage Rend? Is it just in case you get caught out of hybrid/beast form and need to make an MBA? I guess you get it for free so there's no big deal.

I generally prefer to not use summons heavily unless my druid focuses Constitution. Otherwise their HP is pretty low, powerful monsters can often take them out in one or two hits thanks to new monster damage math. You do lose a healing surge when they die (this is part of the rules for the Summoning keyword), so it's not a great meat shield. You may look into zones instead, they synergize well with polearm sliding. Earth Roots (which has a built-in slide that you can repeat over and over) and Entangle are good choices.

You don't have a lot of sliding power other than Savage Rend. At least consider the Battering Claws power, or the Staggering Smash feat.

I was thinking something like this. All encounter powers can prone thanks to Staggering Smash, swap out swarming locusts for grasping tide (far away burst that prones and targets fort, would have kept locusts but that would mean swapping fire hawk), and all dailies are zones that restrict movement. Bracers of Brachiation for improved mobility and Badge of the Berserker for no OA provocation for charging.

Also, some rituals. Yay.

Staggering Smash doesn't turn Charm Beast into a proning attack (on a miss) because Rushing Cleats only improve the push/slide of melee and close attacks. Charm Beast is a ranged attack. You need Gauntlets of the Ram for improving the push of ranged powers, but they're expensive and take up Claw Gloves' slot~ Also Call Forth the Spirit Pack is kinda underwhelming, I'm definitely in favor of Thorn Spray instead even if it doesn't prone~

Well, I agree that picking Call forth the Spirit Pack is underwhelming when you can prone at-will, but powers like Battering Claws or Predator's Flurry (with Staggering Smash) are multi-target attacks~ In particular Predator's Flurry with Staggering Smash is rather amazing because it slides 2 squares, prones, and dazes as a single attack, for two targets, with a big shift in the middle~

As a courier of war, Sora has seen many battlefields. On these battlefields, there were soldiers who cried their victory, but there were also soldiers who cried the loss of friends, sometimes even family.

A few times, even, Sora didn't come to the aftermath. Instead, the hengeyokai had to sneak across the battlefield - in these times, being able to shift into a dog form was most useful. The problem therein was, however, a deficit in birth.

Among Sora's clan, there are some whose blood is not only that of dogs, but also mixed with that of lycanthropes... a fiercer sort of dog, and though mostly kept in check, with that much blood in the air it becomes difficult to withstand the urges.

Naturally, this lead to a solitary life at birth, when other kids shied away and feared, and even adults approached with caution. Sora's cheerfulness is a matter of self-defence, not to dwell on such unhappy things as the past. Generally, bonds forged are short and platonic, none ever reaching deep as a friendship. After all, once the lycanthrope runs free, so do friendships flee.

Sora is in the employ of a Breland lord, delivering various messages to captains and generals spread across numerous battlefields. At times, also to people in peace, though these jobs tend to be few and the messages delivered not quite as important and deserving of Sora's skills.

The latest job involves a summit - Sora isn't quite sure what it is. Travelling as much as the courier does, there's little time to get immersed in what war is being waged and against who, and which threat is the largest threat at the moment. Pretty much every war is the same, in the end.

Accomplishment:
Hasn't died yet on any of these jobs.

Finest moment:
Getting the retreat orders to part of the army whose captain had over-extended too far and was about to be put to rout. Of course, egress still happened, but losses were far fewer. Enemy soldiers reported a fierce lycanthrope rushing past their lines, allied soldiers reported a snow-white dog delivering the retreat orders dutifully.

Of course, the enemies were spreading slander.

Ok, since I forgot that I had a familiar, I just added it to the background. Dump time.

Narerka's youth was a pretty troubled one.

After turning 20, he felt the need to explore the world by himself and took on a journey across Khorvaire.

As a parting gift, the old man gave him a cat. A black cat with heterochromia, the left eye green and the right blue, he was
slender and energetic. It didn't escape Narerka's mind how strange it was for Taldor to suddenly possess a cat, which he never
once saw for the years he lived with him, when he asked him the origin of the feline, "An old buddy gave it to me some days ago...
Don't forget to name him and take care of him." was his only response, despite the term "old buddy" surprisingly out of character
for the man Taldor was, Narerka didn't push the issue and accepted the young cat, which he named Moris.
When the time to leave came, Taldor simply said to this" You've proved you had some talents kid.

I just realized I hadn't written anything relating to my choice of guild. I hope it's not too late to dump something like this~

Secrets have power. That was the first lesson taught to Tainya by her mysterious master. Assassins were common in Eberron, particularly among the house of Thuranni, and house Phiarlan was known to hire freelancers quite often, via their leader, the enigmatic Hydra. However, among assassins, those who follow the way of the ninja are exceptionally rare. There are believed to be less than a hundred ninja in all of Khorvaire, and perhaps around a dozen outside of house Thuranni. However, when Tainya acquired a manual containing the secrets of ninjutsu from one of her marks--apparently, a novice being courted by House Thuranni, everything changed.

The drow was the curious sort, and was already an accomplished alchemist. Though Tainya attempted to study the book in secret, she made little progress on her own. It was then that Hydra appeared to her once again, and put her in touch with a hermetic master who trained her to harness the secrets found within that strange book. She never knew the master's name, and though he appeared as an elf, there was no way to be certain that even that was true, for the way of the ninja is shrouded in misdirection and deceit. The master explained to Tainya that those that she killed, and those that she would kill, each died taking hundreds of secrets to their graves with them. The power in those secrets would give Tainya power over others and the world... the power of deception. Each of the strange, archaic symbols contained in the manual Tainya found represented a secret that a ninja's victim had carried with them. The way of the ninja is to draw power from death... and to utilize deception to gain power over others.

Tainya carries the manual of ninjutsu she found back then to this day. She has added many secrets to it, and the shadow magic that she wields is focused and channeled via her nightly study of the book. Though the master told her that she had completed her training long ago, she continues to hone her skills as an assassin, a ninja, and an alchemist. Her skill in poison is such that she is able to infuse her concoctions with potent shadow magic, allowing them to affect even the non-living Warforged and other constructs, as even their power can be sapped with the right application of ninjutsu. She never lets on more about herself than she has to, and there's a good chance that anything she tells others about herself is a lie. It is not out of malice that she behaves in this manner, it is simply the way of the ninja--the path of secrets, deception, and death.
