Eventually after Erika had done her investigation of the second twilight and the group decided it would be best to move to Kinzo’s study. Once in front of the door Genji took out the key to the study and unlocked the door, letting the group inside the study. There to most of the adults surprise was Kinzo, sitting in his bed reading a book. It seems he has been bedridden for a while now. Genji informed Kinzo what happened. He said nothing and continued to read. Genji told the group that Kinzo hasn’t said a word for months. Everyone decided to let Kinzo rest and moved into the Study’s parlor. Genji however stayed with Kinzo.

Once everyone had calmed down the servants suggested they should make some tea and snacks. Luckily Kinzo had a kitchen built inside his study so the group didn’t have to go far. Before eating Eva made sure that nothing was poisoned. After an hour or two everyone had eaten and drank their share and during that time each had gone to the bathroom. Rudolf was the last one to go out and right before doing so he was complaining about a sore stomach. Worrying about his father Battler decided to check on him. When he left the study’s parlor he noticed that Kinzo was asleep and Genji was nowhere to be seen.

As Battler walked over the bathroom, which was across the room from the study’s parlor he noticed an envelope stuck underneath the door. Quickly realizing what this meant he started to slam on the door and call for his dad. The only thing that responded was the sound of running water from the sink. At this point everyone who was in the parlor had entered the main part of the study. After a split second explanation Battler and Krauss attempted to break down the door. On the third try the door was ripped off its hinges and fell, revealing something they did not expect…nothing. Besides the tap being left on, the drug cabinet was left open with pills scattered across the ground lying beside a bottle labeled “Stomach Relief”. Battler suggested they could have left through the window, although when he went to check it was too small for him to fit.

Erika pointed out that they weren’t focusing on the right thing, that they were incompetent for not noticing. After she then told them to smell the air. There was a faint sent coming from the Study’s library. Again the door was locked and again Battler and Krauss bashed it down. The room was dark and they couldn’t see. Erika flipped on the light to see nothing odd. As Erika looked around the room she noticed that there was few books lying around which seemed to have been pulled from the bookshelves. The window was also locked. Lastly Erika looked at the ground beside the window. There seemed to be some scorch marks there. Erika concluded this must be where the sent was coming from.

Everyone decided to go back into the main study when they saw Kinzo looking out the window. His face was illuminated, almost trance like. Erika walked over to the window and saw the source of the light. Instantly she ran out of the study. Battler closely followed as quickly as possible, but they didn’t make it in time. The thing that was on fire was a person. Lying beside it was a piece of clothing. It was a part of Rudolf's suit.

Fourth Twilight:
Genji: missing

Fifth Twilight:
Rudolf: burnt, found behind the mansion

The doors and windows in the Study's bathroom and Library were locked when Battler left the room to check on Rudolf.
If someone opened the Study's main door it would have made a sound everyone in the study would have heard.
No one heard this sound once the door had locked behind them when entering the study to when Battler discovered the letter.

Someone remember Rosa-san's Reason X in the earlier Twilight?

I will propose Reason Y.

The culprit used the Study's Main Door. Because a Reason Y, like magic or another thing, the door opened without make any sounds.

And, of course, the culprit is not hiding himself in any place of map.

Hmm. I'll make one of my first reds stronger then.
The Main Study's Door will absolutely make the sound when it opens and or closes.
The culprit is not hiding in any place shown on the map.

As for the one about the door, techincally everyone used it. Although I know you mean during these twilights so I'll give this.
From when everyone last saw Genji to when Battler left the study's parlor, nobody touched the main study's door.

Additionally I'll give a bit more information.
-Found around the body as well as inside the top layer of Rudolf's corpse were shards of glass.
-Vokda was not used to commit any of these murders.

The door to the bathroom has an auto-lock so you could open it and then leave the bathroom, making the door locked. The part that locks the door is on the bathroom side of the door, making it 'inside.'

Why anyone would want something that would make it so you would lock yourself out of the bathroom constantly, I haven't a clue. But for reason X, Kinzo did.

Alright, try and counter this if you can!

Rudolf never entered the bathroom, he went straight to the library! First he pulled a few books from the bookshelves, secretly activating the lock to the bathroom door! He then approached the window, strapped on his rocket boots, and blasted off into the sky! This left a burnt stench and scorch marks near the window! Furthermore, at the same time Genji left via the main study door. Naturally, no one heard the door open because they were too busy hearing the sound of the rocket boots instead! Unfortunately for Rudolf the boots malfunctioned and he burnt himself to a crisp, falling into the courtyard below!!!

The nature of a map is two dimensional. It is possible that an area in then study is not shown on the map due to height difference. Additionally there may be a hiding spot not considered a "hidden passage" because it is not a "passage" yet someone could hide inside it.

Good point. But, even that line of logic cannot stop me.

The truth is, the books which were removed were actually placed on a scale, which when pulled down by the force of weight would set the lock on the window after a set amount of time X, which was precisely the time necessary for Rudolf to blast off in his rocket boots and create the noise necessary to distract everyone from Genji leaving the main study, thereby creating the illusion that a witch teleported both of them out of their respective rooms.

Rudolf was murdered.
And just so you won't say it, there was no rocket boots. I didn't want you to make some theories about it being tampered with and what not.
Finally, the door to the bathroom was locked from the inside while whatever caused it to be locked was in the room with it. No device in any other room of the study was used to lock the bathroom door.

I'll use the term "hidden compartment" to refer to an area where a person may hide but one has one area of entrance/exit (thereby making it not a "passage") (I would assume this is above or below what is shown on the map but that doesn't HAVE to be the case)

There is a hidden compartment in the bathroom and/or library.

Also, regarding the lock on the main door: Someone was able to exit the study during the commotion caused by the bashing-down-of-doors.

Alright, I've revised my theory a bit.

Genji and Rudolf were accomplices. Rudolf planned on leaving the study, but the noise made by the door would give him away. So he conspired with Genji. Genji set up the library as a red herring, burning the window and scattering books around. Then he set up the bathroom as another red herring, turning on the faucet and hiding in a secret compartment. Genji then died after locking the bathroom door, thus, he wasn't inside the study.

The study door actually makes two noises, once when it opens, and once when it closes. Thus, there needed to be two red herring rooms: the library and the bathroom. The sound of both of their doors being bashed down drowned out the sounds of the opening and closing of the study's main door as Rudolf left.

Then, as soon as Rudolf stepped outside, he was hit by acid rain, and burned to death.

The door was not locked via the method of the door's lock. It was 'locked' because something prevented it from opening.

I quote a meaning of the word 'locked.'

Locked - To fix in place so that movement or escape is impossible;

Also there exists a hidden compartment in the library, kitchen, closet or main study area.

Rudolf/Rudolf's corpse left through a window. One in either the library, kitchen, or closet.

But wait there's more.

The last thing to lock the door of the bathroom before it was broken down, was Genji's actual hand.

The last thing to lock one of the windows in the study's library, kitchen, and closet was a human hand.

Who said anything about under.

The string went over or around the door. Maybe it went all the way out the window and then through the window in the bathroom. Or maybe out the door to the study and into the next room and then back up to the window in the bathroom.

Repeat it! "Genji was in the a separate room not on the map when he locked the bathroom door!"

Genji jumped into a box when he locked the door. The box he named another room 'closet' 'bedroom' whatever. So since he was inside the box he was technically inside the box, not the main study.

There exists more than 1 Genji, allowing them to be in 2 places at once.

The bathroom window can only be locked by any means from the inside.

The bathroom window can only be locked by a human's hand.

There is only one Genji.
The window locks from the inside. What caused it to be locked could have come from the outside.
The bathroom window cannot only be locked by a human. Many things can lock it.

In short, the window in the bathroom has an auto-lock. That's why Erika was disappointed in them.

So what happened? I'm sure you have a full theory about now.

Because of an auto-lock on the window, Genji was able to "reach" into the room to lock the door using method x (some fishing line perhaps? or maybe even some ridiculous machine). The window locked itself after he closed the window. Other than that, the bathroom has little consequence on the rest of the events!

Hell that's close enough.
Genji opened the window to the bathroom and then tied some string to the lock on the door. Genji threw Rudolf out the library window after locking the door and then grabbed the gutter on the roof. He then shimmied over to the bathroom window and used the string to lock the door. He then closed the window which because of the 'auto-lock' locked it and then went back to the library to lock the window as well as hide in the compartment. He then left the study have everyone had gone to check on Rudolf.

Seeing as there is no limits for this DR style of game I have decided to try this out for the next twilights; you can search the room that the twilights are discovered in using green. Again, this is strictly investigative. In other words you can't make Erika leave the room, kill someone, etc.

--

Frustrated with losing another person Battler turned away from the body and decided to interrogate the group. Shockingly, no one was there. He could have sworn that they were right behind him. Erika, also surprised by this information suggested that they should go back to the study. Once there they saw Shannon waiting in front of the door trying to get in. She told Erika and Battler that when everyone left the room Jessica started to have an asthma attack and so Kanon took her to her room. She thought the others had continued to follow her but when she noticed the absence of footsteps she turned around to see that she was alone. Swearing, Battler started towards Jessica's room. Erika and Shannon right behind him.
They arrived in front of the door. Immediately Battler tried to open it, but to no avail. It was locked. Shannon pointed out that she could unlock it with her master key. She then did so and then entered the room.

Jessica's Room:
It looks like a fight took place here.
A neat and tidy bed is in the corner. Along with a dresser which the mirror to it has been smashed into pieces.
The table in middle of the room has blood on it, which trails to behind the coach.
On the door you opened there seems there was a chain lock, but it seems to have been ripped of the door.
There are two closed windows on the wall in front of you, as well as two doors on the wall to the right of you.
You can hear running water coming from the door closest to the window.

You may begin your investigation.

Upon opening the door steam pours out of the room. It seems this is a bathroom. As you look down a grotesque scene enters you vision.
Inside the bathtub the water is dyed red, and there are chunks of meat floating in the water. You see a foot with cut up toes as well as chunks of hair and scalp. Even with all the blood you can see that the hair looks blonde.

The shower head is still running. The tub is about to overflow.
You can't see much else inside the bathroom.

The shower is now off. It seems that it is now slowly draining.
You go back to the main room and repair the chain lock, then open the other door you had yet to check.
It seems to be a closet. Inside are some clothing hanging on a rack and there happens to be one piece of clothing that fell and is laying on the ground. Other then that you don't notice anything.

<GOOD!>

The fact that the repaired chain was still set after searching the closet indicates that the culprit didn't leave through it after the chain was repaired and set! The culprit killed Jessica, then hid in the closet! After we broke in and entered the bathroom, that's when the culprit left through the unlocked, un-chained door!!! Since they were following me, there's no way the chain could be set by Battler, Erika, or Shannon, and there was no one else hiding who could set it either! Checkmate!!!

Genji is the culprit. He cut the chain to enter the room, killed Jessica, then left and locked the door with his master key.

There's plenty of ways to leave while having the door still be closed. A window, or perhaps a passage of some sort, hidden or otherwise. Also perhaps the culprit is hiding in the room still. Or perhaps a suicide/accident.
